I thought the Nutmeg Male was “ugh” until I saw him on the light background; he is really quite pretty when you can see him well. I have been griping about the black backgrounds for a while now, but I am still surprised at the difference it makes. Thank you Pam!

I like him on either background… that’s a pretty dragon!

It was back in May. Sebastian passed on mothers day may 9th, after we spent $2,000 in vet bills trying to save him. He had megacolon disorder. After all his procedures, his liver was failing. We had no other choice than to take away his misery.

I had blogged about his trials here: http://undermydreamingtree.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html The images are still heartbreaking for me. I cannot seem to get over his loss…I am crying even now as I am typing this.

I have had many felines in my life, but he was really special to me. He was there to make my struggles through a messy divorce bearable, and we had a super close bond–one of the strongest ones I have ever experienced.

Now, I find myself missing him more than ever. His urn sits on my nightstand near to my pillow, because he always curled up, snuggled next to my head every night. ;(

And Hannah,… Quote ” ” I’m sorry there is tension between us ever since the eye order misunderstanding. I wish it never happened. But,…As for Ebay watches, sometimes I get notifications, but not all the time. And usually by the time I find out here when they are listed, they are usually sold already. I don’t know how some of you other Windstoners do it, but I can never get even my foot in the door! You must have some sort of “cheat sheet” that gives you all the “heads up” before the rest of us find out. :/

I try every time…But always seem to be beat. It really is disheartening. I’m not an aggressive auction bidder, and wish that there was a purchase option. And….I do not believe in SNIPING!!! I HATE Snipers! My Husband educated me about them. >_<

Sorry to hear that the loss is still so keen months later. 🙁

For me, I just try to make the habit of checking the Windstone auctions every morning after I get up, I just use the link in the drop-down ‘shop’ menu at the top of the page. But until it became a habit, it was very easy for me to miss things. I still forget, sometimes.

OKAY……I got booted mid way through editing this message above.

And Hannah,… Quote “I’m not sure why you’re angry… Syn is kind enough to post all of the ebay auctions pretty shorty after they go up, so it’s not like there wasn’t an announcement of its presence here on the forums.”

Thank you, Melody for trying to help, but I doubt I will get the chance to Bid on one, let alone win, if you list it on Ebay. 🙁

I'll continue to save my pennies in hopes of being able to out bid everyone else even if I have to pay an OVERBLOWN amount of cash…Geeze…Is $1,000 enough??? *sighs* "I'm sorry if I am a little disgruntled, but I'm sure some of us members can understand where I'm coming from." Some of the Winstones might as well be gilded in gold, and encrusted in gemstones, for some of the outrageous prices the bids go to.

…*slumps away is sadness*…

Dreaming tree, just save or bookmark this link:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_Auction=1&… And visit it every day or every other day. Or set it as your browser homepage.

Also, snipers are easier to beat if your maximum bid is high. 🙂 When you go to place your last bid, place it about a minute before the auction close, and make it the highest amount you would be willing to pay. In my experience, a sniper will often rely on the assumption that the last bidder has not made a very high max bid.

That is not necessarily true. >.> As a sniper myself, my bid is always the highest *I* am willing to pay. Not whatever I think the other person may have bid. There’s just no telling what that may be, so why bother worrying about it?

Well, as long as each person has entered the max amount that they would be willing to pay, then sniping becomes sort of a non-issue… When I snipe, I always assume that the last person has not entered a max bid that is as high as mine, which is usually true (although it often comes pretty close). However, many new bidders do not fully understand the ebay bidding system, or the concept of a max bid, and I think that is where feelings tend to get hurt over it.

I’m so sorry about you kitty, DreamingTree. You have my deepest sympathy. Sometimes it takes a very long time for us to get over the loss of someone so special – be it human or animal.

As for ebay, I don’t care for being sniped myself, but I usually put in my max bid on an item right off. I may come back to the auction to bid a little higher if I can afford it, but for the most part I go with the highest amount I was willing to pay in the first place. I tell myself if I lose it was not meant to be. Although I can relate. It is very disheartening to see so many beautiful ebay items go for such high prices (even though I’m stoked for Windstone 😉 ) I feel I defeated before even getting a chance to try. As a person with a limited income I feel little cheated out of some of the really cool items. But with that said, I’m thankful for the sculpts I do have and appreciative that Winstone does make many special pieces for the store. Example, red panda Flap Cats. I was very happy about that one :).

And when, pray tell, will these be making an appearance in the store  ?

Amanda, I remember reading about Sebastian on facebook at the time, praying for him, and I was really upset when I heard he had to be put down after everything you did. It’s always hard to lose a pet and I think it’s even worse after such a struggle, even though it was a long time ago it’s still going to be upsetting. 🙁

My suggestion, and I’m probably a horrible person for saying it, is to buy a chipped or broken flap cat off ebay in the pose you want, and get someone to repaint it for you. *runs away* Orrr to get one of the ebay ones, I’ve seen at least 2 black ones recently, I’m sure there have been more over the years, try putting a “want to buy” ad in the flea market section. That way whoever got scorpio and any of the others will be more likely to see it, and you can put the maximum price you would be able to pay in there. If your offer is higher than what the ebay item sold for I’m sure you could find one.

I think all black production large/ bird wing flap cats would be really popular. Soooo many people have black cats, and I imagine it would be easy to paint them. Maybe make a thread about that in the ask melody section, just specify they should be production not ebay 🙂

Don’t have much else to add, except *hugs*

That is exactly right. Even eBay tells you to enter your highest maximum bid. Not the bid you would like to pay, your HIGHEST bid. People fall into the trap of seeing their bid as the highest at one point and then feeling it was stolen from them when they are outbid. No one knows what your maximum bid is; if it is higher than the “sniper’s,” you will win. The point is, you cannot be “sniped” if your bid is the highest bid.

I guess it is my Hubby’s “Frugal Yankee” approach that is rubbing off on me. He would say; “Why pay more than you have to?”…*rolls eyes* I remember a few years back, I paid too much for something, and he nearly had a fit! I guess I remember that all too well. 🙁

Thanks for the offer on the small Bat winged flap cat Melody, but I already have one of those. Along with the Himalayan Bird winged one. Neither one has the look of the closed eye stray mold, Which looks the most like my beloved Sebastian.

One would think, that by now…5 months later, I would be coping better…But I simply cannot at this point. I still cry every day about it. Our bond was sooo close that if he were a human, he would have been my Soul Mate. *sniffles again*…We had a good 11 years together, and I try to focus on that, but the wound is still raw.

I’ll continue to save my pennies.
