For some reason I feel as if the albino kirins should have a really subtle pink cast to their scales. (I really like the light pink on his nose!)
Oh! Hand painted kirins with a slightly pinker patch on each scale, like a nail bed!
Like the subtle, ever so slight colors on these fellows:

My art: featherdust.comJuly 8, 2011 at 8:59 pm #850447very cool gator pics, it would be very nice indeed to incorporate those subtle bits of color into the albinos.
July 8, 2011 at 9:03 pm #850448I agree with Jennifer – I think it needs the extra pink to really bring it together.. I think with just the white it looks like the old white dragons with albino eyes ><
This is what you all are screaming for LP over? I can’t think of one time I’ve disliked the Male Kirin no matter how he was painted…until now.
I thought everyone was wanting albino ki-rins? I’m out of the loop so I could be mistaken.
We have been squeaking for the light blue Kirins that have been on ebay the past few days 😀 I personally much prefer the “Snow” color rather than the Albino as it is right now being completely white.

July 8, 2011 at 10:42 pm #850453I think I would love to have a baby Kirin in this Albino color but the Adults are a little too white. For them the Snow Color really works better.
Have you seen the Baby Pegasus on ebay? I´m soooo in love with this little guy. First piece in a long time where I will really try my luck 🙂
July 8, 2011 at 10:48 pm #850454The albino kirin has light pink antiquing on his scales, but it isn’t very visible in the gallery photo.
July 8, 2011 at 11:17 pm #850467Yeeeah. Felt that an albino ki-rin would have light pink scales. This guy is just white. No, don’t like him.
(I’m sure everyone that knows me knows that I very much dislike any monotone color scheme. Don’t like that black unicorn on ebay either.)
One of my ferrets is albino. Her fur might be white, but her skin is pink (which is visible under the fur). Another reason why I feel the ki-rin should have pink scales… Scales are just another form of skin.July 9, 2011 at 1:35 am #850490Ending July 9

TEST PAINT // PAINTED AND SIGNED BY MELODY PENAJuly 9, 2011 at 2:14 am #850496I LIKE the Albino kirin. XD I can’t decide if I want to go for that, or the griffin with the book. What’s up with that, btw? How’d that collaboration come about? Did I miss a thread about that somewhere? o_o I like the cover on the book, too. Pretty. <3
As for those blue kirins, the female looked better to me than the male, I think because her fur was whiter. Mostly, I just don't like that light blue color. On anything.
July 9, 2011 at 2:36 am #850497Why… is the male gryphon being called female?

I’m guessing because the author wanted that sculpt used, but her griffin character is female? It doesn’t really bother me…after all, if Melody hadn’t said, “This one is female, that one is male…” when she first made them, they could have been either – it’s not like they have any visible genitalia. 3.3;

To me, the male gryphon actually DOES look male and the female does look feminine.
Blah. In the end they’re sculptures. They’re all “it”s. Humans just like to apply genders.July 9, 2011 at 12:37 pm #850532Why… is the male gryphon being called female?

I was telling her about windstones and showing her some and she was all “wait…so all the boy sculptures are referred to as “male” and all the girl ones are referred to as “mother”? How sexist!”
I thought it was sort of funny. They’re dragons and griffins after all.

My art: featherdust.comJuly 9, 2011 at 3:03 pm #850542I dont know why, but the whole ‘male/female’ debate strikes me as extremely funny. Especially concerning statues. I can see the male griffin sculpt as female fairly easily. I can see most of the sculpts as either/or actually! The only two sculpts that comes to mind as being absolutely masculine is the male unicorn and grand unicorn. For obvious reasons, I’ll leave it at that.
