Oh he’s sooo adorable!! He’s talking to the camera!!! π π π Name ideas yet?
January 18, 2008 at 2:29 am #656833Okay, being a human ENT provider, I must ask this! Did the Vet say what the name of the condition was? It almost sounds like a cholesteatoma in a human. A non-cancerous growth that occurs in the middle ear.
I am just curious, maybe ddvm or bardwing can answer my question? This year, I have had a cat with mouth and throat problems and a dog with an inner ear problem. So it is interesting learning about the pet side of things.
Hope the kitty gets better, good luck, he is adorable! How can anyone not love him?

That’s what he’s almost certainly got.
January 18, 2008 at 2:56 am #656835Very interesting. Thanks! Kind of like nasal polyps in humans. They mention Squamous cell carcinoma, that is the most common type of oral cancer in humans. I am not suprised they worry about it in animals also.
Hopefully your new kitten will be fine once he has surgery π Good Luck!
January 18, 2008 at 2:59 am #656836He’s charming! Please give him some loves from me, my boys and our kitties π

January 18, 2008 at 3:14 am #656837oh I am happy he can have surgery for his dilema. what pretty markings! he looks like a wonderful kitty and has a lot of personality. i just want to reach out and pet him.
January 18, 2008 at 3:15 am #656838Thanks for all the well-wishes everybody. Looks like we’ll be keeping the kitten!
Though I’m a little bemused at how this played out. We got a phone call from a guy who said he was a friend of the cat’s owner. Said owner can’t call directly because he doesn’t have long distance on his phone, but he lives in the same apartment complex as we do. (???? I guess he must have a cell phone from somewhere else or something, because otherwise that makes no sense. Or maybe he just didn’t want to call me directly. Dunno.)
Anyhow, I wasn’t going to just talk to this random guy, I needed to speak to the owner, so I got the number and called. Got a woman answering the phone, who said that the cat was theirs, yes (and identified it correctly) and that they’d found it as a stray a few weeks ago. I asked if they wanted it back, and they did. Then I asked if they were going to get the head tilt taken care of, because as I said, there’s no way I’m going to give this cat back to have it neglected. She said they’d taken it to the vet, and the vet said it was neurological and there was nothing they could do about it. Well! I explained about the polyp, and that it needed surgery, and would they agree to get the surgery done? She said that they couldn’t possibly pay for surgery on a pet. To which I responded that I could handily pay, but wasn’t going to pay for their cat, if I was going to pay for the surgery, I was going to keep the cat, and that they’d be welcome to visit it, or they could just get a new cat. (Maybe that was a little harsh of me, but I’m going to be out at least $400 for this critter, and to me that’s a LOT of money. I’m not doing that for a random stranger’s cat!) Anyhow, she said that I could keep it, and they didn’t want to visit it, they’re moving soon anyhow. So… that’s that, I guess. I’ve got a new cat now!
January 18, 2008 at 3:22 am #656839He’s gorgous, he looks like he might be a medium to long haired cat, how lovely, I love long hairs, we had one, Sprite, but she’s been missing for a number of months, and we fear the worst.
I hope you can get the surgery done soon and that he makes a full recovery.
I’d name him Equilibrium, but that’s me.

January 18, 2008 at 3:33 am #656840It’s VERY good to know he has a new home
January 18, 2008 at 3:33 am #656841The names suggested so far for this guy:
Picasso (Think Guernica)
Arnold Sideways or Sidney Lopsides (characters from the Discworld novels)
And Eilene (yes, it’s a pun) if he were female, but he’s not.January 18, 2008 at 3:49 am #656842Congrats on your new family member! I’m sooooo glad it worked out well! π

January 18, 2008 at 4:35 am #656844I like Eilene. Too bad he’s not a girl. π
My friend Jac has a cat whose head is tilted. I’ll mention the polyp thing to him and see what he thinks. His cat’s name is Meathook, by the way. It’s dark humor, I know.
My husband suggested Polyps for a name. He’s strange sometimes. He also suggested Liszt (the composer). π
I had one, but I can’t remember it now. I have CRS, sorry. If I think of it, I’ll come back and post it.
Congrats on the new kitty. He’s very cute.
January 18, 2008 at 4:46 am #656845Aha ha ha! I like Liszt! I shall have to suggest it to the boyfriend and see what he thinks. I’m kind of leaning towards Picasso though.
January 18, 2008 at 4:54 am #656846Awww, such a sweet kitty! I’m glad he has a good home now π Sounds like they really didn’t care about the cat to begin with.
I like Liszt! Picasso works too π
hehehe…. Discworld *giggles*
