I just went and bought a poppy quarter.
I think I paid too much for it, as it was definitely more than a quarter! But I thought it would be neat to have.
Though some people are paying even more for them! I guess because they’re infamous now. Mine was just a bit less than $1.
May 8, 2007 at 8:14 am #572097Does anyone have the $2 bill? I have one that I got from my uncle years and years ago. Can you still go to the bank and get them?
May 8, 2007 at 10:49 am #572098Not here at least in circualtion, but I have aCanadian $2 bill somewhere in a photoalbum, its pink 🙂 . I love our colored money most people think it looks like Monopoly money, LOL. I have a large collection of coins from around the world and ours too. I have a fake loonie, the painted coins, the province coins, the Terry Fox loonie I think money is cool. I’ll have to take some pics and show you guys today.
May 8, 2007 at 10:52 am #572099I think I’ve got a few $2 bills at home… I’d have to check, though. I remember I spent quite a few of them a couple years ago when I was in Florida. I didn’t know they were special. 😳
May 8, 2007 at 11:20 am #572100My husband collects coins. Over the past few years, he hasn’t been as assiduous, though (I think he likes the car parts better). Is that a special edition twoney? I haven’t seen it! We have a special thingy with the old 2 $ bill and the twoney when they came out.
Yeah, I heard the story on the news yesterday. I was laughing out loud! Man, our technology rocks!
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

Well, they are not exactly special. I am pretty sure you can get them at any bank, but they are not really used as regular currency. I think I have seen maybe 2 in stores my whole life.
May 8, 2007 at 11:41 am #572102They’re pretty rare, in that case?

You can go to a bank and get them any time, as far as I know… at least you used to be able to. Seeing them in a store is rare. If one wound up in Switzerland, I would keep it, just for a novelty. 🙂 You can always get another when you go to the states, though, so dont worry about spending yours. 😉

Oh yeah, you will pay alot more for mint coins. If anyone is watching for special coins let me know. I work in a cash office in a large store. I get special coins all the time. They just aren’t mint.
One time we got three boxes of mint (direct from the Bank of Canada) lucky loonies. That would be $3000 in lucky loonies. We had a few people buying the rolls. And one time (I’m really not sure why the cashier accepted them) I found 6 silver dollars. I’m sure they were worth more than a dollar each. 😆 And when they first come out you can go to the bank and request the special coins.
May 8, 2007 at 3:52 pm #572105I actually have a $2 bill on my desk right next to me. It’s been here a while. I think my husband got it for change and gave it to me. I collect coins too. I have books with the state quarters (one for D mint and one for P mint), and will probably collect the president dollars when I get some. My mom gets them and gets an extra one or two for me, so I’m sure I’ll get them. I need to get a book for them though. I like being able to look at them that way. I have a jar of Sacagawea (sp?) dollars too, and bicentennial quarters.
May 8, 2007 at 4:15 pm #572106ah ha ha ha! Of course, having a coloured bit on a coin means it MUST be a microchip XD
When I was in NY for a few days, someone showed me a dollar coin from the States that they said was new? It didn’t have an eagle on it! I think it was silver? I forget exactly what WAS on it @_@ LOL
I miss our two dollar bills, they had a robin on them!
May 8, 2007 at 4:19 pm #572107Cool… 8) 8) It is amazing the variety in different kinds of currency..I wish we’d put more animals on US money….instead of pictures of ugly old men 😕 ..How about a dragon dollar…or a griffin coin….? Yeah, right 😆

May 8, 2007 at 5:13 pm #572109im not sure you can get 2 dollar bills–american–any more. my mom has a whole bunch of uncirculated.
one trip to canada, i managed to get a 2 dollar bill; it is with the rest of my canadian coins.
lately, i have been colleting the yearly silver sets from the us mint.
i will check out the coins from canada’s equivalent. i think the coins are cooler. 🙂
May 8, 2007 at 5:23 pm #572110Most of the time you will find the $2 bill at places like casinos and dog tracks…at least that’s how it is here in the South. The one $2 bill I have was because my school bus driver bought a box of Girl Scout cookies from me with it.
