Wow! I didn’t know the Old Warriors were done in that color. I want one of those! Is that something like the Black Violet Old Warriors where they are only sold on Ebay?
Yes, these were a batch of two, and there are two more with blue eyes. There is also a one of a kind one that looks kinda similar, but with more of a bronzey color. π
August 13, 2007 at 3:35 pm #576227That looks like a good group Ski, congrats! I didn’t realize that the fledge had purple/blue antique.
August 13, 2007 at 3:46 pm #576228Most of the VF fledges I’ve seen have excessive blue antiquing. It’s discussed in a couple other threads.
August 13, 2007 at 4:36 pm #576229Congrats everyone. I love that OW, I should of gotten Arlla’s.
August 13, 2007 at 4:51 pm #576230Congrats, Ski. But whoa, that’s a LOT of that blue. I’m glad mine just has a couple little spots & none around the eyes (it looks like a bruise!).
August 13, 2007 at 4:53 pm #576231I like one of the members comment about it. If you have a lot of blue it looks like it is going to charge up. π I thought it was a good explination (sp?).

Your welcome!!! He is really cute!!! I like his blue!! π
August 13, 2007 at 8:52 pm #576233It’s not actually antiquing per se; It’s actually a pearlized powder Melody rubbed on! π

My art: featherdust.comAugust 13, 2007 at 9:55 pm #576234I just looked my VF fledgling (from the first batch) over and I got one that doesn’t have a lot of antiquing/peralized powder. In fact I think my VF1 curl has more.
August 13, 2007 at 11:13 pm #576235congrats ski π , I wish I had an OW like that.
August 13, 2007 at 11:25 pm #576236OMG! Wow Ski! I love the ow! Is his purple more intense like he looks in the pics? π Gorgeous…drooooool….If I ever visit you I shall have big pockets! π
August 14, 2007 at 2:27 am #576237My mixed griffin family is finally complete. ;_; Thank you emerald!
It only makes sense that someone who comes from a family as mixed as mine as a mixed griffin family like this.
L-R: Skan, Tabitha (Tabby), Keenath, and Zhaneel. Of course the parents have to be Skan and Zhaneel. But the wolf colouration matches the general colours Zhaneel is described as, anyway. πTabitha got her father’s recessive lutino gene. π

Thanks for the info, Nam. But it’s still pretty stark. π
August 14, 2007 at 4:10 am #576240Hooray! He arrived safely. (Big sigh of relief there–I was really worried about Murphy’s Law.) He looks wonderful: I hadn’t seen one in person and so had no idea just how much blue and violet interference there was. My photography skills leave something to be desired π but here are the picture links.

http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/Barrdwing/OGEmperor%20and%20Muse1/OGEmpback.jpgThe two chips mentioned in the auction are definitely going to need a little work. There are a couple more very small chips, and some places where the paint got rubbed. But I think I can fix them . . . once I get some practice in. π Here are the photos of the two bigger chips.

http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/Barrdwing/OGEmperor%20and%20Muse1/OGEmptailchip.jpgThe seller was great and I’m not cross with her about the minor chips and rubs: there was bound to be something of that sort, and I’m sure she didn’t see them. A very nice person–I would think that anyone here who also bought from her should have a positive experience as well.
Now to find that thread on matching the Emperor horn color . . . . -
