So I just posted in the whine thread but now I feel I should post in this thread. So one way I try and make money as I have mentioned is by selling things on kijiji and ebay. So I have some Nexus 5 cell phone cases I ordered in about a year ago that I have been selling slowly on kijiji although I should probably put them on ebay but I had a man come and get a couple a week or so ago. I can’t remember what I talked to him about but it may have been a bit about our struggles but he was really nice. We were happy to make about $20 at that time and thought that was the end of it. When he called and left a message a couple days later asking for our postal code because he wanted to mail us something to say thank you. I wasn’t sure what he wanted to send but gave him our postal code expecting a surprise. Well I just got an envelope in the mail today and opened it and it was a nice thank you card from him and inside was $100 cash. I couldn’t believe it. He said in the card he prayed for us as he had a bit of money after paying of some debts and loans and wanted to help us in his small way. He was a complete stranger but recognized our need and that was so kind! It’s funny because I pray a lot and always have faith God is watching over us and recognizes our needs and even after going through hard times it’s like a little reminder that he hasn’t forgotten us and still cares and I am just touched. After reading other news on here too of others getting surprises from kind hearted people in the mail, it just makes me smile that is seems like we all have people out there who care even when we don’t realize it. Also I have been able to sell two Windstone as well today so far so this is such a huge relief to have some money come back in as we were completely out of money after moving last month and having to pay more for rent and a deposit and a pet deposit and other bills and we won’t get anything else in until the end of the month. Anyway I am so thankful! The next task now is figuring out what to do with our wrecked car but at least it is still drive-able for now.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

January 7, 2015 at 6:24 am #923950Oh Kim thats so nice ! What an awesome thing for him to do ! Some people really can surprise us eh ? What an amazing gift, and I bet even with all your troubles, this act of kindness let you see the positive side of things 🙂 Its good to know there are still good people to be found 🙂
January 16, 2015 at 1:04 am #924294Pardon me if you’ve read this backstory before:
I started buying Windstones in the mid-80’s. I bought a green hatching dragon, a brown young dragon, a green mother dragon, a brown Male dragon and a green Emperor. (I never did see the Peacocks in the store…a tobacco store that went out of business) I loved my dragons. Long story short, between about 2003 and 2009, the Emperor dragon vanished. Suspects – a clutzy housecleaner who would break things and claim “The cats did it”. She never told me something broke – I had to find out for myself but I was bedridden by then. Or, my handyman roommate that turned out to be a thief and a meth addict (he was arrested at my house for taking things from one of his clients). In 2012 I discovered the Windstone website – SOOO MANY PRETTIES! but my Emperor was retired and only available for big bucks second hand. I couldn’t afford to replace him until…he showed up on eBay recently for a minimum investment and I GOT HIM!!!!!
For the first time in over 15 years, my original dragon family is together again!!
Now that’s what I call a “HECK YEAH!”
January 16, 2015 at 8:31 am #924302That’s great! I love it when I find deals on old pieces on ebay!

January 16, 2015 at 4:01 pm #924309Congratulations. 🙂 If this was the “ceramic” dragon I’m glad to know that he arrived safely! It sounded as though the seller knew nothing about Windstones.
January 19, 2015 at 1:55 am #924398She didn’t but was open to suggestions. She originally packed him in one box butt when I responded that he had to be double boxed, she went out and added an outer box, no argument. It’s a good thing she did;when the emperor arrive, your could see where his head had partially broken through the inner box. Luckily there was no damage to the old green. This seller is liquidating her deceased father’s collection and I gave her a five star review because she was so accommodating. The piece had been on display for years and was a little dusty but that’s all (no stains, damage or bad smell). I was very fortunate to get him!

I’ve got 10 days of school left!!! I’m going back next year to get my associate’s but I’ve worked so hard to get here! I’m excited!
March 12, 2015 at 4:38 am #926656So, I have some good news, and figured since there is this “heck yeah” thread, I would share 😛
I got a new-to-me car on the weekend ! This was totally unexpected, I did not ever intend to own a new car anytime soon, and was going to make my older 2004 Honda civic last as long as I could. But my parents were visiting, and they stared worrying about me and my old car, and the ‘new’ noises that were coming from the engine. It may have been an easy fix… but then what would go next?
Anywho, long story short, my folks encouraged me to get a newer car so none of us had to worry any longer about my car breaking down, and then how I would get to work etc. With some help with the negotiations from my parents, and almost walking away when the dealership wasnt going to give me much for my car, we eventually got a deal that was good enough to say ok, I will get a new car 🙂 Thank goodness for awesome parents ! I may be 41, but I still feel like a kid when Im around my parents, and having their help means the world to me !! 😛
So, I ended up trading in my 2004 Honda civic for this 2012 Honda civic ! I have never owned a car that was only 3 years old ! I feel so blessed !!
Mind you, I now have car payments to make, and my car insurance went up some… so I have to watch my money more closely, and I do want to try and get this paid off as fast as I can. Its a 5 yr car loan, but Im hoping to get it paid in 3 or 4 years, if all goes well with work and such 😉 So the end result from this is me not being able to purchase as many Windstones as I have been…. I may have to miss out on some grab bags etc…. and my collection will grow more slowly.
But I wont complain, I have a new car, and I have a lot fewer worries now ! 🙂 So, “heck yeah!” 😀
March 12, 2015 at 7:10 am #926658Congrats on the new car! I could use a newer car at some point too as ours needs a lot of repair too.

March 12, 2015 at 2:07 pm #926669Congratulations on the new car. 🙂
March 12, 2015 at 3:15 pm #926673Congrats Amstaff! I know EXACTLY how you feel. It is nice having a new car that spares you some worries that an old car gives you. Insurance may go up…and you may have payments…but you also have some peace of mind. Though it stinks not having the extra spare money.

Yup, all so true ! At work a lot of my co-workers have Honda Civics also, but most of them have 2010’s… I have the newest model, a 2012 ! LOL ! Usually Im the one with the OLDEST car, not the newest, lol ! So this is a totally new experience for me, LOL! I can now use a USB drive to play my music off of… in my old car I had to burn CD’s, until my CD player broke that is and all I had was the radio….. And I can even upload pics to use as my wallpaper on my dash! How cool is that !? LOL! Ok ok, sorry, Im a bit giddy with all this new technology to play with, lol !
March 12, 2015 at 6:02 pm #926678Awesome, congrats!
