Heck yeah! I may have just gotten my first PYO commission! I gave my cousin a dragon that I painted (I can’t remember – have I shared that here yet? I should check!) for her wedding and now they want me to paint it a friend! I am so happy! (Also it’ll require me painting it in a non-stripey theme which will be a nice challenge. I love stripes but I’m afraid they are too much of a comfort zone for me!) It’s going to be in my favourite colour palette too, orange and blue!

Eeee! I hope this happens! 😀

      Excellent!

My CT came back clear! It wasn’t a stroke, now it’s just time to mend up.

So I was driving towards the library, and I saw a bus in the opposing lane hit a hawk- a red shoulder. I was so upset, if he’d just tapped his brakes he’d have missed him. I turned around a quick as I could and went back; I’d seen the bird bounce off. When I got back over the overpass and stopped no one else had hit him; he was standing very stiff and tall with his wing out on the side of the road. I started to pull my t-shirt up when I remembered thank you God I had a set of bedsheets forgotten in the truck. I wrapped him up; he looked at me but didn’t react. I was afraid his wing was busted. But as I was driving to animal control, he started cheeping and working out. He managed to get out and flew at the back window then the front, but didn’t go for me just jumped by (thank God again, didn’t have any cage or box). I was stopped, so I picked him back up and swaddled him tighter. He was feisty now, his red eyes GLARED and he gaped but strangely didn’t bite. When I got him to animal control, they took him (still swaddled) into a cage room, where they said he got away and flew around the room before they caged him, so maybe he will be okay. I’ll try and see how he is tomorrow, it was too late to get him to the raptor center.

Awesome job! I’ve got a local pair ( I’ve got corn and soybean fields around my subdivision) that I see hanging out on the street lights and telephone poles. I’ve also got an American Kestral male that I see a lot too. He’s harder to notice since he’s so small, but I always know it’s him because there are NO other birds perched near him when he’s sitting on the wire.

Love baby kirins, safari poads, mini keepers, and anything BLUE, BLUE, and, oh yes, BLUE.

Very cool! So glad you got him to a help center. You’ll have to let us know if he turns out to be alright.

Ciarnet, thank goodness! I’m glad that it didn’t turn out that way. It’s been awhile since then so how are you feeling now? Better I hope.

Thank you for asking, I had meant to add an update, but it has been over the moon busy here the last few weeks. I am back to about 75 percent of normal movement, which the doctor tells me is pretty good as far as time frame goes. Slow but sure for the rest of it. The constant muscle twitches keep it fairly interesting but I am very much grateful that it was indeed Bells Palsy and not something worse. I am also grateful that my mouth was the first thing to come back! Oye trying to eat was quite a task when half of it won’t move!

I’m glad about your Bell’s Palsy Ciarnet- I knew someone years ago who had it and he was fairly paralyzed for about 6 months, it took him about 9 months to return to normal. He did fine after.

I went to animal control and checked on the hawk- a nearby raptor rehabilitation center came and got him; they think he was badly bruised but nothing broken, and he should be back terrorizing the local little birds and critters soon. Yay!
I wish I could have gotten a picture, but my little flip phone doesn’t do photos and I was by myself anyhow (and not thinking of things like pics lol). He was beautiful, all buff and dove grey and pale rust-brown with those red eyes and ridiculous long bright yellow shanks. He must be descended from South Florida birds; they’re lighter colored than most and do make it here to the central coastal/St. Johns river area. I shook out the bedsheet; he didn’t even loose a feather so a very lucky bird.
I have a pair of red tails where I live, they keep most of the competition out. They’re a lot bigger than this little bugger was!

Mine is my former company at&t – they kicked all the retirees to the curb this starting 1/1/15 and doing away one of our most important “Lifetime Defined Benedits) our healthcare and are sticking us with an outfit called AON (and the CS’s at AON are not educated to handle this as they can’t answer most of our questions) and are giving us only $2,700 to pay for healthcare, dental, vision and pharmacy. How far do they think that will go and probably next year will eliminate that. That sucks
