Yaaaay and congrats to everyone’s ‘Heck Yeah’!
June 22, 2011 at 4:56 pm #848966Josh JUST called me and HE HAS A JOB!!! *happy dance* *throws confetti*
He had a great paying job with great benefits before, but long story short, it was either he quit or he get fired, so he quit. It was kind of for medical reasons-he had been doing this program at a local hospital, his insurance ran out, his job told him he had to finish or they were going to fire him.
He applied for unemployment, a guy called and talked to him, got the whole story, and then denied him because he was “fired” nooo, he resigned. So Ive been having to support us since May, and I only made a little less than half of what he did, so our income was slashed by 60%, and Ive had my own personal bills to pay (CC, car insuarance etc) so it has been hard. Luckily his parents are really well off and have helped us out a bit-filling our gas tanks (well just once but that saved us $100) inviting us over for dinner etc.….SO anyway, Josh has been seriously looking for a job all month, and part of May. He had an interview this morning, went in, and he starts tomorrow!! He’ll be making $10/hour LESS than he did at his last job, but I think its a union job, so he will get scheduled rasies. He said he will be getting a raise of like $1/month after he goes through his apprentice class. O.O Man, I wish I could get something like that! No more stressing about having our phones and lights turned off. Hooray!
AND on Sunday, his parents gave us their barely-a-year-old temperpedic mattress (a new one costs OVER $3,000 O.O!! They bought a new one for themselves because the old one was “too soft” *rolls eyes* If you want a hard bed, don’t buy a Temperpedic! Buy a regular mattress! oh well. Worked out for us!) (omg so comfortable! Ive gotten the deepest sleep of my life on that thing! Ive got mild scoliosis {curvature of the spine} so that mattress is aaaaaaaawesoooome!)

YAY! Congratulations!!
June 30, 2011 at 5:51 pm #849735I just got a new job! w00t! It’s a job with NYS, which usually takes a while, even months to hear back from, and I heard back with an offer within 2 weeks!!! The glowing recommendations from my references helped (one told them I practically walked on water, *I thought it was the water skiis*, which also makes me thrilled, because I know my team and coworkers know what I can do, just upper management is just crap and getting worse. Better hours (I work nights, so now after 4.5 years, I’ll be on a day schedule), I’m NOT working next to the ghetto, better benefits, and a 30% pay increase (I’m really underpaid for an IT admin where I’m at), and a shorter commute (1 hour one way currently down to 45 minutes one way and more direct, with carpooling as an option with these hours now). Won’t be doing Unix as much, but I can do that on my free time or move into a position using it at a later date.
I’m excited, at the same time, I feel for my coworkers (I really like my team!), and I always get nervous moving to a new job. Upper management screwed me royally at my review in January (despite my review written by my peers being awesome), so it’s time to move elsewhere.
w00t!

July 1, 2011 at 6:41 am #849832So, Transformers 3 is getting great reviews on the quality of the 3D (and actually the movie itself)–which is a big point of pride for me because the company I work for, Legend, did the 3D conversion on it!
Much of the movie was shot in 3D, but only half or so is actually “native” footage. The rest, we worked very, very, VERY hard on to create a perfect conversion, to blend seamlessly with the native footage. (And in many cases, actually look better than the native-shot footage–that kind of 3D capture has its own drawbacks to deal with.) This was kept hush-hush up till now to avoid scaring off the public.
Michael Bay has said “Go see it in 3D. We made it to be seen in 3D.” And he is totally correct, it looks AWESOME! We worked insanely hard on our portion to make it perfect and seeing it on the big screen was….. incredible. <3
I worked on a number of shots and many of my friends made it into the credits. We made it for all of you guys! So, go out and see it! In my humble opinion, having seen it, it really is worth seeing in 3D, on a big screen. (And the more revenue the movie makes the more of a cut we get and we're all exhausted and want raises XD hahaha!)
July 1, 2011 at 7:08 am #849833Awesome! 😀
July 30, 2011 at 1:38 am #852381Oh heck yeah!! Only one more week of summer camp left… then my life can return to some sense of normalcy. It will be nice to have time for painting again. 🙂
On another note, one mom was so impressed with our camp and that her son had such a good time, she brought us a little gift…. um, a gallon of daiquiri!! o.0 I’m feeling quite good about now. Heck yeah! XD
July 30, 2011 at 1:57 am #852384Congrats for an end to summer camp!
…and I wonder if that mom was enjoying more of the same while her son was gone!
July 30, 2011 at 6:46 am #852400I finally got a hatching t-rex! And (at least according to the ebay auction) in good condition no less! And it’s all thanks to SecertHope. HECK YEAH!
July 31, 2011 at 1:15 pm #852498After a crappy month, and finally finishing an art project that ended up dragging out over two months, I got it up on my Elfwood page and it got a Mod’s Choice–heck, yeah!!

August 1, 2011 at 4:22 am #852559I’m on my first official paid vacation, ever! It’s nice to get money to not go to work (and NOT be on WCB, which just sucks)!
I’m sure there’ll be another “heck yeah” from me after next weekend….. *grin*
