I took in my application last week to a local nursing home, got a call yesterday to come in today for an interview. Did the interview and 35 min later got a call at home and was offered the job. Will start orientation March 3rd for a certified nursing assistant position. One thing I was iffy about, apparently new aids are required to offer two different shifts they can work :/ I want 2nd, and since I will still be working two days per week at my old job, the thought of possibly working 3 different time schedules in a week does not sound fun… Anyway, I’m pleased because I have a choice of lower pay (still higher than I’m making now) and benefits, or higher pay and no benefits. I’ve NEVER had benefits. No health insurance, nothing. Also, I get a .50 differential for weekends (which I am offering to work every weekend) and .50 for second shift. And if I choose benefits, I get double time and a half for holidays. Never gotten that before either!

            Congrats, Eleu! 🙂

I’m very excited about my new volunteer position at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. I am still in the midst of training. I hope to get qualified soon to work with the starfish exhibit. Eventually I hope to work my up to working with other animals. I am in guest engagement which means I am sort of the middle man between the exhibit and the guest. I get to talk with the guests and answer questions and also ask them questions to engage them in the experience. I hope to also be able to work with penguins and otters. If anyone happens to be at the Shedd on a Saturday… you might see me there 🙂

Isn’t it fun Peg? LOL. My son was 8 when he lost his first tooth. Then he dropped 5 more in the same year. Not sure how he was managing to eat, but he was very rich for a while! 😀

I finally found a family doctor (after 2 years of searching) YAY!!
She is within walking distance of my house YAY!!
She has referred me to another to help me deal with my anxiety problems rather than just medicating the crap out of me YAY!!

I finally have a glimpse of hope for the future!
