They were also much better quality – partly because they had no plastic parts. My mom got one of those old black Singers when she was in high school (maybe a graduation gift?). She bought fancier ones in the ’70s, and both broke. The Singer’s basic functions still work, though I think she mentioned that one thing needs to be repaired. But since they were built well, they CAN be repaired.
Hers was a basic model, and doesn’t have much or any scrollwork. I don’t recall exactly. She graduated in 1960, so that is the newest it could be.My keyboard is broken. I keep pressing "Escape", but I'm still here.
March 21, 2018 at 10:48 am #1536440So, I went back through the past GB releases (are they all on the site? Or were there others that have since been deleted?), and it looks like sculpts occasionally get used more than once (for GB releases, I mean!)? What dictates that? Is it the popularity of the mold? Is there a possibility for more pebble loaf dragon GBs in the future?
March 21, 2018 at 1:16 pm #1536445I think that the biggest factor is how hard the sculpt is to paint. Melody says that smooth sculpts like poads and unicorns are easy, dragons are harder, and things with feathers like the pegs are very difficult.
Pebbles should be easy so I expect that we will see them fairly frequently as Grab Bags. In a recent post Melody said that she likely will do another batch of loaf dragons – “Don’t panic if you really want a silhouette and don’t get one this time around. I will probably do another grab bag batch of just silhouette ones.”
There are some grab bags that almost certainly won’t be repeated. The curled dragons were a batch of “failed test paints” that had accumulated over time. We were happy to take them!
The Lucky Llamas were a small group of unpainted castings that Melody painted as Grab Bag pieces and put in the store. As far as I know, there are no plans to cast any more.
The GB armadillos also were a small group of left-over castings.
The GB coiled mothers currently in the store are castings that were done when Windstone had trouble with the pewter eggs and modified the sculpt so they could replace the eggs with globes. They won’t be made again with globes (unless maybe there are more troubles with the pewter – heaven forbid).

Certainly. I will do more. I also plan to paint these dragons in simpler colors too, like ivory and black rainbow sparkle.
We need to cast them first, though!
Oh yes, sculpts get used more than once for gbs. I only use the smallish pieces, so people can swap them without shipping being TOO expensive. I also try to use the simpler creatures ( usually without wings!) .

March 22, 2018 at 4:47 pm #1536511I thankfully ended up getting a shy dragon that hung back, but since I really do prefer simpler schemes I may end up with one of the simple releases too. A lightly coated black sparkle might be sharp!

Really looking forward to the upcoming releases <3
Would you ever consider doing a GB on a larger sculpt, in spite of it being more pricy (both to purchase and to ship)?March 23, 2018 at 8:03 am #1536587Zexious,
You may be interested in the “show-off” thread listing thread. It is pinned near the top of the Windstone sub-forum. The most recent comprehensive update was last August. Unfortunately, many of the photos no longer show in the various threads because of Photobucket stopping allowing embedding of pictures.
