My first PYO (start to finish) in almost half a year.
I must say, the Muse is harder to paint than I thought. Especially for me, who does every feather and scale individually… π
I did her in return for the gift of a gold young dragon that lamortefille sent me, so she’s supposed to match Praxithea. I added the green to tie in the one weird eye.
I’m pretty happy with her, but the glossy finish didn’t quite cooperate, so there’s some air bubbles in the texture. π Sorry, lamorte. I hope you like her anyway.
A few other pics are here. None of them are really any good, but outside is gray, so I had to take them in my room.
Oh, and about the name, which is a rather high-falutin’ affair for such a small creature. Polyhymnia is the Greek Muse of eloquence, sacred song, poetry and agriculture, as well as geometry and other such things. I haven’t a clue what they have to do with each other, and I don’t know if Windstone Muses are good at any of them. But since this little critter was made as a companion for Prax, I figured her name should start with P. Polly and Prax.October 14, 2007 at 7:10 am #492995October 14, 2007 at 7:33 am #626420I would say she is pretty, but that is not entirely true… The paint job is gorgeous! She is just kinda… Oh, I dont know… O.o? Yeah, thats it.
(You did a really lovely job. Im just teasing about the muse π )
October 14, 2007 at 8:02 am #626421I think it looks great and I still love that blue kirin! π You do awesome work!!!
October 14, 2007 at 8:27 am #626422Thanks. π
Ski, my words exactly. π She was really fun to paint, though. What I like best about her is that the various textures are so varied and small that I don’t get bored painting them. It takes me six hours per griffin wing, and then I have to turn the thing over and do it all over again. π
Mom got better pictures, so I’ve added those…
Emerald, Eurus is a WIP. I got Polly done over a couple hours every evening for half a week. Eurus will take more concentration, but I should have him done in time to mail on Monday in a week or so.October 14, 2007 at 10:28 am #626423I think you did a good job. I still have to start mine.
October 14, 2007 at 2:08 pm #626424GB, she’s lovely!!! It’s so nice to see you painting again!!! π

Woo hoo! I can’t wait! π
October 15, 2007 at 5:23 am #626427I got one side (sans the wing) of him done yesterday, but he turned out too brown so I have to gove over it all again in black… Every griffin I do seems harder than the last! π
October 15, 2007 at 4:11 pm #626428Thank you soooo much, GB! Polyhymnia is just adorable. I just love the blue with the green. π π Wonderful job!

It doesn’t help that it’s a specific bird to copy too. Sorry about being so complicated. π

Oh good, you like her. I had my brother mail her off yesterday, and then in the evening I realized that usually I wait until I know whether the recipient actually likes what I painted…
Anyway, you’ll have her in two weeks at the latest.October 16, 2007 at 5:13 am #626431emerald212 wrote:Greater Basilisk wrote:I got one side (sans the wing) of him done yesterday, but he turned out too brown so I have to gove over it all again in black… Every griffin I do seems harder than the last! π

It’s okay. π Practice makes perfect. I think he’ll turn out great.

I saw one of these birds at my birdfeeder this morning. And a male one too. I had that female around earlier this year, but hadn’t seen her in a while. But now there’s a male in the neighborhood. Maybe, if the female is still around, there will be a bunch more of them soon. OOooo! So pretty!
