Angelika_Zen – good question… at first glance it looks like rose quartz to me, although those pink shades also show up in a type of jasper called mookaite, or it could be a pink feldspar. The pictures are a little out of focus when it comes to the stone, but a close-up would help if you could take one. Any other rockhounds want to weigh in?
Not a rockhound, so a totally uninformed guess – I have seen photos of similar stones identified as rhodonite, but I don’t know anything about it.

Thanks for the close up shot! I’ll actually take back my earlier guesses, this doesn’t look like any of them. Etruscan has another good guess with rhodonite, but rhodonite often has dark-colored inclusions mixed in. With those little round ‘bubble’ looking shapes, I’m guessing this is a pink chalcedony (aka agate). The bubble shapes are botryoidal crystal forms that have been polished down, so you’re seeing them in round cross-section. Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline quartz which naturally occurs in many colors and is often translucent if it’s thin enough. If you shine a light behind your stone and can see it coming through along the edges, that would help confirm it.

Interesting stone. Could it be ocean jasper? The orbicular patterns aren’t very strong, but I’ve seen wuite a few of them in pink.
so many pretty ones in here! I lean more towards the kois though, so pretty!

when I shine a light behind it, it looks like an eclipse. No light passes through, but the outer edges light up red.

… So… If I didn’t have bad luck I wouldn’t have any at all. I got my grabs thinking that there were so few that I disliked I would finally have a decent shot to get one I liked. Got one Koi and one Autumn… didn’t like either. I was able to get a blind trade from the store for my autumn one and was sent the tracking by the member who placed the new order and was excited that maybe I would have better luck the second go around.
I shipped out my half of the deal as planned with no issue… Tracking said on Tuesday that the new Mother Coiled would arrive Thursday (meaning today) I worked from noon to 9pm yesterday, came home and everything was normal but when I checked the tracking this morning (expecting it to say out for delivery) it said the package was delivered at 4:31pm Wednesday. Scoured the house this morning… nothing. Checked with the neighbors… nothing. Called USPS and got a huge run around on the phone for about 2 hours with no actual resolution except a “we’ll call you back” and now it’s 4:30 pm and I’m guessing that’s not happening… FML

They usually do, UPS does for me anyway no matter what I get as I have an account and have it set to NEVER leave anything unattended. I have a PO Box now just for this very reason for USPS but my clepto neighbors moved out over a year ago and I hadn’t had any issues since so I’ve been laying off using the PO for grab bags because of my impatience to go pick them up since I usually work late hours with 2 jobs and can only get there once or twice a week… I wanted it ASAP because I was hoping to have something to offer for trade to another member, but now I have nothing… Clearly that’s a lesson learned but now I have no dragon and no money to buy another so I’m in a very foul state of mind today. It’s nobody’s fault but my own I suppose but Im half so furious I wanna break something and half so bummed out I want to literally cry. It’s NOT Windstone’s fault, I’d like to stress that, but I’m so beyond done with grab bags I don’t think I am ever buying one ever again from the store. Only on the resale market from now on so I know EXACTLY what I am getting and I’m not trading or buying sight unseen anymore. I had a foul trade on the safari colts where I got screwed over too so between that and this… I’m just done.

ARGGG! That doesn’t always work for me! I had a rather pricey trade piece sent to me specifically with Signature Required on it to ensure nothing happened. Well my ditzy mail lady put it on my porch without getting a signature – no one home but that didn’t matter to her! Luckily there wasn’t an issue, but really?!?

Good to know even signature required doesn’t always work…
I’ve even had signature required before on a package which was all well and good until someone signed for the package at the completely wrong address! That was ages ago when I lived at my old address, but instead of Nickerson Ave they delivered to Nickerson Street and whoever lived there signed for the package and kept it. The only good thing was since it was signed for they were able to go and get the package back, but it was a big to do because at first the people who signed for it claimed they didn’t. Eventually they coughed it up and it was all over a stuffed animal.

I suppose the thought was either to provide a margin in case packages were delayed, or to tell people it would be three days instead of the usual two days and then they would be happy that the package was “early”.
This week I sent something from here (Maryland) to North Carolina via Priority Mail. Normally it would take two days, and it did take two days, although the predicted delivery was Friday (three days after I mailed the box).
Well the good news is Susie has initiated a claim and already found out several things they didn’t say a word to me about. Apparently when an item is scanned for delivery there is a GPS signal sent out that shows the location of where the item was scanned delivered and though it was in my area it may not have been at the correct house. Also it was confirmed it was not my usual carrier so hopefully everything is sorted out quickly and if the package is not recovered they will reimburse Windstone for their mistake and I can be issued a replacement.
Also a big thank you to the members who have contacted Susie on my behalf. You’re all very sweet, but she is taking very good care of me (as she does for us all) and one way or another the issue will be resolved. It’s just a process that takes a bit of time.
