Congrats! What a breath taking view! 🙂
November 19, 2009 at 5:10 pm #786700Oh wow… That place is a dream come true for me. My fiance and I are preparing for our big move to Estes Park, Colorado next spring. We have views like that, but for now we will be renting from my friend who has furnished cabin homes. We’ll stay there while we look for a house. 🙂 Huge congrats on your new home, that place looks so charming!

Thanks guys. I thought I was excited before, but your kind wishes just upped it by 100%!
Not much land comes with it; a dirt parking lot down by the road, the front yard (about, oh, 140 sq. ft.) and a strip of grass on the sides and in the back. But, it’s surrounded by government-protected moorland, which means I don’t need to fear ever having other houses built around me. (I really don’t like having neighbors, which is why I didn’t seriously consider renting and apartment.)
A stream runs right by the house, less than ten feet away if you’re standing where I stood to take the second photo. The house is supplied by fresh water from a spring up the hill, which water also flows out of the fountain. (No water charges!)
The forests around it are mostly conifers, so I have green around me all year.
I realize the photos are grayish; it was a strangly warm day when I took them. I’m sure I’ll inundate you all with better ones later.
I should be getting the keys somewhere between next week and the second week of December. There’s no snow up there at the moment, but it’s about 4000 ft. above sea level so it gets pretty much snowed it. I’ll move in slowly over the winter; I can only take up real permanent residence there once I’ve found a job in the region. I’m hard at work looking for one.November 20, 2009 at 3:56 pm #786705Huge CONGRATS!!!! It looks so beautiful up there. I can’t wait for more pics! 😀
November 20, 2009 at 4:07 pm #786706Good luck with the job search, and that location sounds fanastic! No neighbors, and not owning a lot of land means less upkeep. 😀 Congrats again!
November 20, 2009 at 6:14 pm #786707Good point, Adaneth. 😆 Yeah, the pastures out my west window will have cows – with cowbells! – on them in the summer. Totally country.
November 20, 2009 at 7:30 pm #786708What a beautiful view! Congrats on your new home 😀 Sounds like a snow blower would be a good investment.
November 20, 2009 at 7:42 pm #786709Gorgeous!! And I want that view. 😀
November 20, 2009 at 10:59 pm #786710Very nice! Even without owning a lot of land, you still won’t have neighbors right on top of you, and hopefully the moorland is open for hiking, which would make it all the better. 🙂 Very nice!
November 23, 2009 at 1:47 pm #786711How beautiful! Congrats, GB! *hugs*
