The red is visually overwheling to me, but I’m REALLY weird about color because I’m synesthetic! 😆
Hey, I learned a new word!
synesthetic: having a condition in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, as when the hearing of a sound produces the visualization of a color.
Do you see colors when you hear sounds, or is your synesthesia of a different kind?

smells do that to me though….not sounds….but that’s cool to know…

There are a lot of bold colors juxtaposed, and it gives me the impression that the griffin is composed of disparate parts instead of being one harmonious whole. One of the reasons I liked the Praxithea color scheme so much was because it was so harmonious.
Just my 2 cents… 🙂
I think I agree.. the color scheme is beautiful on the butterfly, but doesn’t translate well for my tastes. I think if he was overall the nice greens and greys/black, with just a small accent of the red somewhere (maybe eartufts, or around the eyes? Or just on the tops of his wings) I’d enjoy it more.
I agree with both Nam and Mimitrek; they expressed my opinion perfectly. But everyone has different tastes and you’ve got admirers of this piece so I hope it does well on Ebay, GB 🙂

Really? You see colors when you smell various things? Does that happen with all smells, or just certain ones?March 21, 2007 at 12:33 am #553691mimitrek wrote:frozendragon wrote:mimitrek wrote:Nambroth wrote:The red is visually overwheling to me, but I’m REALLY weird about color because I’m synesthetic! 😆

scent is a memory trigger…so I see all kinds of things…but smells make me think of certain colors…

With mine, everything has a color. Numbers and letters especially.. but so do emotions and sounds. Not so much tastes… touch does do it a little bit, such as certain textures and sensations can go with certain words/colors. Also numbers have personalities, which is why I can’t do math in my head… some numbers just don’t get along! 9 and 7 are especially vicious to one another. 7, incidentally, is a rich purple, whereas 9 is usually a poppy red.
Mimitrek (your name) is kinda a reddish, fading to copper, with a little pale green lichens growing on the end. Frozendragon is overall a very smooth pale blue.

March 21, 2007 at 2:25 am #553694Yes, that’s really cool!
March 21, 2007 at 2:42 am #553695hmm…sounds interesting….my favorite color is purple…
and I totally dig blues too…
my room is a very subdued purple grey…..
I picked it because I thought it would be totally cool for my bedroom…
but I learned from my program director at school that I picked that color because most people with A.D.D. are actually calmed by that color…it helps them relax and rest…
and that’s why most of my clothes aren’t bright or too patterned…
I always pick pale greys, beiges, greens or blues with plaid or stripes only…apparently anthing else is too stimulating for me….
like when I went to London and went to a museum….I had to leave after only about 20 minutes because the paintings were too big….and too much color….
I tried to look at them all at once and ended up with a migraine…hehe
March 21, 2007 at 5:02 am #553696Oof, a lot to catch up on…:P

I like most of the colors on the griffin, I am not to fond of the lighter green. I think if you changed that color to a darker one then it would look better.
It would fit better, you’re right. But the green is what I started with, and I should have scrapped the butterfly idea and kept on with green. Still, it’s interesting to see that people do like the way he turned out. I think sometime later I’ll get another green-eyed griff, do the wings and body again in a deeper green and then finish him like Laërtês should have turned out.

This is really neat, Nam! Of course you know that now you’ll be bombarded with questions about the color of names. What color is Greater Basilisk? 😛
Thanks to everyone for commenting.
March 21, 2007 at 5:43 am #553698I love the green i think if you has done just a little red spot on the top of the head or just the edge of the ruff it would have been better overall it’s still a eye catcher of a piece nice work GB
March 21, 2007 at 5:51 am #553699Thanks, Whistful. Yeah, I’ll call this modern art, like star said, and make a more natural-looking one later. But he has managed to grow on me a little overnight…

It;s actually a big pain in the butt most of the time! 😆 MElody and Chessie have it too- you should ask them how they feel about it sometime! 😉
Greater starts out orance and kinda drops to a deep indigo blue, almost black at the end, and Basilisk is very earthy green with black markings.
I get really mad trying to play solitaire because the suits and numbers aren’t the ‘right’ colors!

Orange into black and earthy green with black markings – that’s interesting. I can’t imagine how you do it, but when I make myself an alter ego I’ll sure use those colors. 😀 Thanks! -
