So did anyone else geek out this evening and watch the new Knight Rider movie on NBC earlier?
February 18, 2008 at 4:31 am #494379February 18, 2008 at 5:02 am #666543I did! *squee*
February 18, 2008 at 5:05 am #666544Nope I was pissed when I found out that the guy who originally did kits voice wouldn’t do the movie because he is the “official voice of GM”
February 18, 2008 at 6:32 am #666545I watched it! I was a little upset about the double wing they had on kit when he would morph into other mustangs. IMO double wings and mustangs do not mix. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be but my husband said it was just a giant ford commercial.
Edit: my husband just told me that Val Kilmer was the voice for kit in this movie?
February 18, 2008 at 2:40 pm #666546Your husband was right! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1114258/
February 18, 2008 at 4:14 pm #666547I am old enough to remember the original Knight Rider series and didn’t want to ruin my taste for it, so I didn’t watch. Yes, back in the day Hasselhoff was the man! (Eighties hair and all!)
Since you guys seem to be ok with it, I might tune-in if they re-air it. How was the theme song? Did it still have the guitar riff? LOL!
February 18, 2008 at 4:46 pm #666548I watch about 30 minutes. Of course, between the commercials, close-ups of the car and the opening credits, that meant I saw about 10 minutes of story. Didn’t capture my attention so I turned to the History channel.
February 18, 2008 at 5:05 pm #666549They actually did keep the original theme song but kind of like a remix. Danny was so happy they did keep the original song.

Yes, I was impressed by that. It was a decent remix too. I loved Knight Rider back in the eighties. Usually don’t like the new remakes though. What they did to Dukes of Hazzard… (shudders).
Honestly though, my favorite of the old eighties shows along this line was Airwolf. Loved that theme song. Wanted to marry the actor that played Stringfellow Hawk.
February 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm #666551I never watched the original, so I didn’t watch this one. I never liked David Hasselhoff or shows about cars, so it just doesn’t interest me. I like Val Kilmer though, but that’s not about his voice! π
February 18, 2008 at 5:57 pm #666552All I could think of every time that car talked was “I’M BATMAN” LOL
The car was beautiful for a F.O.R.D. but I don’t see as to how you can blame the first guy for not doing the voice over on KITT this time. It should have stayed a GM. I did however only watch the last half, and I can’t believe the Hoff-Man would even like it himself. I think Hasselhoff made a very distinct impression with the first series and he is a bit big for his britches now, but he should have came back.
I was very unimpressed with this movie. When are they gonna make a live Speed Racer movie? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL π

ditto!
February 18, 2008 at 7:55 pm #666555I watched it. It wasn’t too bad but certainly not great. I did like the colour morphing and I really do like the mustang as a car. I love Val’s voice but didn’t think it was quite snooty enough. The first KITT had much more of a personality though that might change as the show goes on (if it does). I don’t know that I’d bother watching the series if they got signed though. But the Hoff is much too old to be doing this again. Though he did have a cameo at the very end.
