Also I kind of feel your pain about not pushing yourself more on bidding for something. Hopefully there will be more lovely little golden zebras in the future; it’s a gorgeous scheme, and the lavender eyes were a very nice touch.
I liked that zebra colt too although didn’t bid on that one. I liked the colours on the male unicorn. I bet with the upcoming grab bag fantasy colts there may be some safari ones too like that zebra one. Maybe I should post to ask Melody.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
June 18, 2014 at 8:31 am #914304Ooh, you meant the Umbral Opal unicorn! xD I can’t keep my unicorns straight. Gosh, but he did go for a little on the low side. On the other hand, you really never know how high another person might have put their max bid, so you could just end up raising it a bunch without succeeding in nabbing it, and that would be pretty frustrating. Plus, there is that nice grab bag of unicorns coming up. At least with that you’d be guaranteed a unicorn, with the possibility of trading if you don’t like it. I saw that you posted a thread; I’ll be watching to see what Melody has to say.

Yep, that was what I thought, he looks like the Sand scheme but with a bit more green and blue, plus the added stripes. And that is why I like him! XD

I would love one that like if I could afford it! Or if by chance anyone has a special baby kirin they would sell, please let me know! I just want one colourful one!

It might actually be a sand emp with green stripes added… I think Pam said Brandi finished an emp that Mel had started.

There goes the last of my money but that Hawaii scheme was my favourite! I see the new Koi one listed too that’s cool. Who wanted a Koi kirin again, Stephanie and Lasohaney? I hope that one finds a good home!

June 25, 2014 at 5:55 am #914671I was wanting a koi but I’m afraid it might have to wait. I’m never certain what prices on these things are going to do, and I just don’t have much spare money at this point. 🙁 If only it had come out a little closer to my birthday. Ah well. There will be more, eventually, I’m sure.
edit: it’s such a shame too because that color scheme is just wonderful!!! unnngh idk. what do what do. Watch and see what the price does, I suppose.
June 25, 2014 at 6:57 am #914675It’s hard to know sometimes what the prices on ebay will do. I have noticed on a lot of special pieces in the last while, they have sold for less than what I would expect compared to special store prices. It depends on the popularity of a piece though. I think a lot of people have spent a lot recently on the blue morphos or are saving for grab bags so now could be a good time to find special pieces at more affordable prices. You never know though because some of those pebble critters and other pieces sold for a lot lately.

June 25, 2014 at 8:57 am #914676Yeah. I was trying to win the (second) kingfisher, and I really thought I’d nabbed him, and at a decent price too. A little more than the first one, but still doable for my means. But then literally two seconds away from the end of the auction someone sniped him. xD; Good for them, and good for my wallet, but it was a little disappointing. I should have known he’d be popular enough I’d be competing with *somebody* for him, but I was kind of hopeful that the blue morphos would help keep things down.
Still, because it’s a small piece, I could get lucky…. maybe… Well, I’ll watch the price for next day or two and if it looks stable-ish and another blue morpho seems ready to hit, maybe I’ll put in a bid. I’d really love one, but I think right now even 150 would really be too much for me unless I’m willing to give up on the blue morpho lap dragon.
June 25, 2014 at 9:51 am #914678Yeah I have learned with auctions that if you really want a piece, you usually have to watch it right before it ends and try putting a bid in at the last second if you think someone else may try and snipe it. I have been discouraged in the past when I tried to win something last minute but was sniped in the last couple seconds because my internet was slow and I wasn’t able to time the bid right. I have only won a couple of special pieces off ebay before and I only bid on the small or less expensive ones. I would love to see pictures of the collections of those who have won the big special pieces though if anyone would post them who hasn’t.

June 25, 2014 at 11:34 am #914679I’ll have to try to keep that strategy in mind. I never considered myself a very competitive person before, but losing is the worst!
Well, I managed to win both of the Cavern Springs adults that were for ebay auction recently (and so used up the majority of my for-fun cash I’d had hoarded away :p). I’d never really done ebay auctions before, though, so I honestly hadn’t figured out that the best way to try it was like you say, wait till closer to the last minute and go for the kill. So I got in a bidding spat and spent more than I’d wanted to, though I don’t regret it. Unfortunately, I can’t post photos since they’re at my permanent resident halfway across the globe, and when I tried to ask my mother if she’d take some for me she got kind of panicky, said she was afraid she might break them. But two doesn’t really make a collection. I’m sure some other more established people have some incredible pieces.
