if I saw a dragon called sapphire I would expect it to be dark blue

DM came up with “Fauna”,thinking of the earth and growing things, but that means animal life,I think. I like “Aurora”.
I like it too, but I would go the whole way and go with Aurora Borealis… Or would that be too long?

These dragons are a very pretty dark blue. At leawst the ones I saw. I just thought of just plain old Ocean, Paradise just came to me also. Looking at them reminded me of being at Lake Tahoe in the spring wiht all the spring colors. I have also been partial to Aurora, but everytime I think of that I think of Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty since that was her name in the movie

Aurora Borealis is much more trnsparent then these colors though and I thimk it would be too long just like the hybrid nameDecember 2, 2006 at 2:22 am #513278I expect ‘sapphire’ things to be a deep blue too… which is silly (seeing as how none of my sapphires are!) but I guess it’s hard wired. What about green sapphire? They’re usually kinda blue-green like this, that’s the kind of stone I have set into my engagement ring. It’s very pretty and kinda exotic.
The colors on this bring to mind:
Aurora
Green Opal
Ammolite (this sounds silly though)
Hummingbird
Auroras
(Color-enhanced) Nebula photos
Tropical ocean
Viridian
Aurora😉

Me too. But sapphires come in almost all colors.

My art: featherdust.comDecember 2, 2006 at 2:46 am #513281The problem with calling it sapphire, is that the average person does think of sapphire as blue.

December 2, 2006 at 3:04 am #513283This dragon is a very deep blue.
December 2, 2006 at 3:36 am #513284Hmmm, I like Nebula, though they can actually be any color.
http://home.cfl.rr.com/jtr2d/nebula.jpgHumming Bird I also like. Sapphire would go with the dragon name tradition (ruby, jade, emerald) And opal is my birthstone so I wouldn’t have a problem with that either =)

Other than that, Azurite comes to mind too.
December 2, 2006 at 4:43 am #513286I still like Viridian best. Aurora isn’t a color or a stone, so it wouldn’t fit with any of the other color names.
December 2, 2006 at 5:02 am #513287Neptune! I love that name ^_^
December 2, 2006 at 5:19 am #513288I just have to keep thinking of the listing.
“Windstone Editions Neptune Male”/”Windstone Editions Male Dragon in Neptune”
or
“Windstone Editions Aurora Male,”/”Windstone Editions Male Dragon in Aurora”
Sapphire doesn’t fit with the general conception of the stone’s color, I think. And reusing Jade and Emerald… Well, why bother when we’ve got so many good new un-repetitive names?
But “Windstone Editions Viridian Male,”/”Windstone Editions Male Dragon in Viridian” – now that sounds just fine. To me, at least. 🙂 -
