That’s ridiculous why should you have to PAY to just find out if a mo was cashed when you already paid a mo fee to get the piece of paper in the first place! 👿
May 1, 2008 at 3:06 pm #693297like I said, idiot system… >.<
May 5, 2008 at 10:56 pm #693298How lovely, my newest e-mail from Robert.
‘Ass hole check you mail better’.
Nice old man huh? I wonder if he cares that his credit report will be stained for life over 50 bucks if I take him to small claims court. Maybe we should direct him to this forum so he can see for himself how many people he’s up against.
May 6, 2008 at 2:16 am #693299What does that even mean? I don’t understand his cryptic message. 😕
May 6, 2008 at 2:23 am #693300I thought he meant that the check was mailed, and…the mail box ate it. So she obviously needs to search /waaay/ inside her mail box to find it. Since, clearly, she needs to look better, because she obviously missed it.

And then Mr. Bob who gets all these flame emails rounds up his buddies, they register 100 accounts on the forums and trash the place.

Yeah I doubt it… he’s an old guy and not to be stereotypical but I know my mom who is not all that old, my dad, my aunts my uncles, least of all my grandpa- have a hard enough time checking their e-mail let alone making a forum account. And I doubt he has 100 friends with his attitude 🙂 Not to mention the accounts could be deleted. I’m not saying for anyone to e-mail him I’m saying show him that people know about him and what he’s doing

🙄Yes that’s what he meant. His last e-mail told me he returned my money order- wellll I didn’t even send a money order it was a check. Interestingly enough, I live in a 6 unit apartment building with that little row of mail boxes where mine barely fits one of the long envelopes that bills come in let alone a greeting card sized envelope… I doubt it’s lost in there! 😀

Alright. I’m going to get condescending for a moment. If you take it personally, so be it – but this is for everyone.
If I hadn’t already seen it, dealt with it, and been in the position where I had to fix it, I wouldn’t have even bothered to mention it. I only speak out of experience, and ask advice where I am not vested.
Hmm. So an old man/women/dork/idiot/scammer can’t wreck havoc on a website.
Hey “grandson/nerd I know/family friend/sister’s squeeze/insert someone who has more brains than you HERE”, can you step over here a second?
What can you tell me about these “dragons”? *click click* goes person, oh look, they have a website ‘idiot’. Want me to run a perl script across it’s user base, register 35,000 bots and flood their mailboxes?

Yes, and your house can be rebuilt after someone burns it down too.
Who is going to sit on a forum and repair damage done by a botter or script kiddie? Not me! It will be formatted and restored to a backup. If it takes more time to fix than it does to bring up the backup, it’s a write-off.
Two minutes of someone bent on intentional havoc and access to Google could completely destroy this forum, resulting in it being removed for 24-48-72 hours while the connection and null routed, then I’d have to pull out a backup.
We’d lose 2-3 days of having the forum up, lose 2 to 6 days of posts and messages from the time the last backup (weekly), and waste an entire day of my time to facilitate it.
How would you feel if you were the person that instigated that because you sent a flame e-mail to someone that had 0% to do with your personal business?
Quote:I’m not saying for anyone to e-mail him I’m saying show him that people know about him and what he’s doing
Alright, let’s look at that from two sides.
Situation 1 – The guy is a scammer. He doesn’t give one wet fart what you think, and e-mailing him is not going to change the situation. He now has your email address, and will proceed to sign you up for porn spam lists.
Situation 2 – The guy is not a scammer and screwed up. Would you like to be this guy that suddenly gets harassed from completely unknown people because you made a mistake? Now there’s a great negative image from the Windstone Editions forum, because you’ve spoken out as a ‘member’ – which reflects back upon the entire community.
Whatever the guy is doing, he is well aware of it, and it’s a matter between HIM, the BUYER, and law enforcement agencies.
I wouldn’t even bother citing the Golden Rule here, but I think the Butterfly Effect fits nicely. The actions of one person affects this entire community.
Now that will get thrown back in my face! 🙄
And yes, I do understand you sent this guy money too. As I said, this is directed at everyone.
May 6, 2008 at 11:31 pm #693305I understand what snap is saying and have seen it happen on other forums I post on. Its not a pretty picture.
May 6, 2008 at 11:50 pm #693306Listen to Snap. This is between Tatt and the seller and Leigha and the seller. It’s best that we all stay out of it. As for finding someone who could wreck the forum, it isn’t that hard to do. I could come up with half a dozen people who could do it tomorrow. I work with programmers.
May 7, 2008 at 12:10 am #693307AnonymousThe first post was for general consumption.
This one is, however, directed straight at you.
tatt2dcowgrl wrote:I wonder if he cares that his credit report will be stained for life over 50 bucks if I take him to small claims court.
So you are ready to file a claim in court, which probably doesn’t even meet the minimum value to warrant a case, spend more money to file the case than you originally lost, lose the time from work to visit the court house during a weekday, in which a judgement will not be granted, because you sent money without valid contract?
Are you serious? You can’t sue for damages without contract for exchange of goods or services. Did the seller send you an invoice? Doubtful. An email saying “I’ll sell you this” has zero effect in a courtroom. Without audit, evidence is useless – and the only way you could possibly, even begin to audit such a trail would involve both yours and his ISP.

What could this possibly accomplish? When did an internet forum become the private police crusader squad with super citizen law-forcing ability?.
OH NOES A HUNDRED PEOPLE ON AN INTERNET FORUM DON’T LIKE ME!!! I BETTER GET TO THE POST OFFICE NOW!! Or wait, better yet, I’ll just crash the forum! Woot! *smash*.
This reality check has been brought to you by my blood pressure. Enjoy the remainder of your stay, and please, recommend us to your friends.
And now, a word from our sponsor…
[cue blinding flash of the obvious]
SCAMMERS LIVE ON GREED. A $100-$200 Windstone for $10? He screwed you and twenty other people in the process.
[end blinding flash of the obvious]By the way………………………………… speaking of scams…. where are the pieces from the motherlode?
May 7, 2008 at 12:17 am #693308Snapdragon wrote:By the way………………………………… speaking of scams…. where are the pieces from the motherlode?
My understanding with that is the forum member who found them decided to keep the collection and not break it up. I don’t remember there being a sales thread and no one has mentioned any money changing hands and no Windstones being produced.
May 7, 2008 at 12:20 am #693309…and never any pictures either. Really makes you wonder, doesn’t it. 8)

I never thought about it that way either. Has anyone see that forum member on lately? I can’t remember who it was and don’t feel like looking for the thread.
