I know we’ll pick it up soon. My bf really, really liked it. I enjoyed it quite a bit but still have issues with the huge plot flaws. But that’s just me, I think too much and end up picking at bits of all the movies we watch. π
What were the plot flaws?
Serious spoilers:
Okay, you’ll have to remember that I haven’t seen this since the summer but the major ones I remember were:
The robots only have two forms, their robot form and their “disguise” form, so how was Bumblebee able to upgrade?
Ratchet said that Bumblebee was damaged (couldn’t talk) and that he didn’t know how to fix him. So how was Bumblebee healed at the end because he started talking…
When Sam was running through the streets with the Allspark, when it gave off little jolts of power, the only things created were decepticons? The same when the goverment experimented with it at Section 7, in the little blast chamber, all it created were evil little things.
How come Bumblebee could be ripped in two and fixed when the Decepticons were killed.
The Autobots come to Earth looking for a pair of spectacles that supposedly has the coordinates to the Allspark imprinted on one of its lenses. But since they are captured by government officials and taken to the very same secret installment where the Allspark is being kept — thereby negating the need to locate the glasses at all — the race to find the stupid specs is completely unnecessary. And if the Autobots and Decepticons are all able to discern that the glasses in Sam’s possession are in fact the pair of glasses with the coordinates just by looking at an image of them on eBay you’d think they would be able to use their superior technology to magnify the picture and just read the damned coordinates right then and there, right?
And last thing, at the very end: the voiceover dramatically says something to the extent of (I am paraphrasing here) “We buried Megatron miles under the sea, so no remnants of his existance remained.” This was said about 2 minutes after he and the rest of the Transformers had spent about 40 minutes trashing the entire city and destroying millions of dollars of city property and military equipment. I’m pretty sure there were some witnesses left.
October 19, 2007 at 4:52 am #597057I haven’t seen it since summer, but I can answer a couple of these.
The transformers “disguise” forms were scanned. When the other transformer arrived, the movie showed this.
Bumblebee wasn’t ripped in two, Jazz was. Bumblebee’s legs were damaged.
The rest I can’t really answer, but my brother is always quick to tell me not to take fantasy movies so seriously. I was complaining about how at the end of the second Underworld movie, the the blades on helicopter that they had crashed in were still moviing thoughout the entire final battle touching the ground and only stopped when the evil head vampire was shredded in them. He said “You’re watching a movie with werewolves and vampires running and flying all over the place and you’re complaining about the helicopter?”. He was right. I had to just laugh at myself at this point.
I enjoyed this movie. I used to watch Transformers as a kid all the time. It just brings me back and was fun to watch.
October 19, 2007 at 5:06 am #597058I just watched the movie the other day when I bought it so I can answer some that skylover didn’t.
For Bumblebee talking again at the end of the movie you see one time where Ratchet attempts to repair his “vocal cords”. I guess you can assume that he continued to try when we didn’t see and was able to fix them.
And yeah it was Jazz that got ripped in two and they we not able to repair him. π₯ Poor Jazz.
The only Autobot captured was Bumblebee. Yes he happened to be taken to Sector 7 which happened to house the All Spark. The Autobots didn’t know at the time that Bumblebee had been taken to the same location as the All Spark, they just knew he had been taken by the humans.
As to why the Autobots and Decpiticons needing the actual glasses rather than using an image from the Web to get the coordinates Optimus Prime projected something through the glasses that revealed the coordinates. Can’t do that though a picture of something. Plus there’s no guarentee that Sam had taken pictures from the right angles to reveal all the markings on the glasses.

He scanned the other car that was driving by, just like the Porsche did. They can turn into what they scan.
Ratchet said that Bumblebee was damaged (couldn’t talk) and that he didn’t know how to fix him. So how was Bumblebee healed at the end because he started talking…
Ratchet kept trying to fix him throhghout the movie. Thats all I can think of.
When Sam was running through the streets with the Allspark, when it gave off little jolts of power, the only things created were decepticons? The same when the goverment experimented with it at Section 7, in the little blast chamber, all it created were evil little things.
Thats why the Transformers needed to get the Allspark, so the decepticons could not use it for evil. I am not sure I remember why it only makes bad guys, though… I will have to watch it again, which is no hardship for me

I guess he didnt get shot π

Only one autobot was taken to the allspark, and the autobots didnt know the allspark was there when Bumblebee got taken. I do remember that cuz the boy said, “Its here, isnt it” when they showed him Megatron.

October 19, 2007 at 7:30 pm #597060See, this is how I think too much…it’s a great movie for the action and everything but at the very last scene, all I could think was:
If I wanted to make out with someone, it wouldn’t be on top of another sentient being…

I think the autobots are closet voyeurs. ;D
I could totally picture Ironhide and Ratchet fighting over who gets to peek in the second story bedroom window to find out what the humans are doing.

He’s Megatron, nuff said! ;3 No… but Megatron does always come back. Whether rebuilt (aka, Galvatron) or just because he’s the biggest badass ever.
I got the dvd too… though I have yet to open it (I saw it 11 times in theatres… I’m good for a little bit). I got the one that was limited to less than ten per store. It came with two toys (Optimus and CliffJumper). I also got the limited Lithograph of Megatron. Megatron=LOVE.
October 20, 2007 at 1:22 am #597063If you haven’t seen it in IMAX–GO!!!
There are about 10-12 extra minutes (if not more) and it’s even more amazing on IMAX–we went AGAIN last Sunday. π
Originally saw it on the Cine-Capri (monster screen) at the first showing of the sneak-peek in town. Everyone was seriously into it, and it was like the old days when the crowd was almost living the movie! Applause, laughter, lots of woo-hoo-ing the Autobots and boo-ing the Decepticons. Amazing experience! 8)
Bought the DVD special edition first thing Tuesday morning, and am about to watch it again once I sign out! Don’t know if the extra footage is there or not…
Check the IMAX.com site to see if it’s near you, and GO AGAIN–it’s more than worth it! π

No doubt! That bugged me too π

Actually, it’s only about 7 at tops… Bay said himself it was only suppose to be 5… but then he said 7 afterward so… and the extra scenes… well, to be honest… I can see why they were taken out in the final cut. Nothing special. I actually prefer the movie without them. It’s yellow.
And no, the extra scenes are not on the dvd version. They are in certain extra dvds (since they have many different “extra” versions depending on where you buy it. I don’t know if they all have the extra scenes on the second disk).Lol at the Autobot/Decepticon thing. I went 5 times in IMAX and every time, I yelled “ALL HAIL LORD MEGATRON!” as the movie started π I’d be the one seriously booing the Autobots… unless it’s IronHide :p
