The last 2 posted look a lot like your cute Brego!
February 10, 2015 at 12:40 am #925402I’m all for Windstone prospering, but that is not fair.
Any cherry picking for Ebay should happen before they photograph the GB’s so we don’t hope for something that in the batch that isn’t there.
I’m sure I’ll love whatever I get, but I am bugged by this.
February 10, 2015 at 1:28 am #925408These are the wolves Ferlin1984 and her family got! I like the one on the right with the cute little cheek spots!
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
February 10, 2015 at 1:38 am #925407Wow, gorgeous wolves everyone! I love that merle with the bi-eyes as well! I never said anything before but I am also a little bugged about some of the pieces held back that have ended up on ebay. I tried really hard to get a bat eared fox when they came out but unfortunately just missed them. I e-mailed Susie asking if there was possibly an extra one or if an order didn’t go through to let me know as I would love to buy one. She told me they were sold out and there were no extras. Then after a while, a few of them showed up on ebay that got held back including one of the red pandas and lemurs that were in the class photos that were a couple of my favourites and went for high amounts on ebay. Well since I was told there were no extra foxes that I could have bought, can you imagine my disappointment to see 7 extra ones show up on ebay? Luckily I was able to buy one I liked from another kind collector on here as I wouldn’t have been able to afford an ebay one.

February 10, 2015 at 4:05 am #925411Where are the brindle ones in the class pic?
uh, there was one. Pam swiped it for ebay.
That’s a bit unfair… I liked thinking GB’s were actually meant for the GB batches, otherwise mark them as “Test paint” -_-
She ebays the stragglers that get left behind. A few get left out of every batch because of small paint defects that I want to fix, like scratches or missing mouth stripes. Once in awhile she pulls out one of the unusual ones, so everyone can have a chance at them.

No pieces ever get removed from a batch after the class photo. We don’t do that.
BUT I didn’t notice the brindle one was included in one of the smapshots I took of them after they were painted and sitting on shelves!!February 10, 2015 at 6:12 am #925414I’m all for Windstone prospering, but that is not fair.

(barring disaster or severe acts of Murphy’s Law) Thank you, that’s very good to know!

I understand what you’re trying to say here Melody, but I think that when they are included in the grab bag batch, everyone does already have a chance at them. When they are put on ebay, arguably less people have a chance at items because their prices almost always skyrocket from the original store price. That systematically cuts people out that can’t find it in their budgets to compete.
In any case, I appreciate that it seems like the brindle being in the photos was an oversight. However, can you guys please try to be more sensitive about that type of thing in the future? I don’t think it’s a secret that many of us watch for pictures and start dreaming depending on what we see in them, and I hope you can understand why some of us feel pretty disappointed that something that was implied as included in the batch now is likely completely unavailable to us.

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!February 10, 2015 at 7:53 am #925416So Melody just to clarify, I looked up all the auctions for the bat eared foxes that were listed on ebay as ‘leftovers’ from the bat eared fox batch and out of 7 of them, 5 of them were pictured in the class photos. So why was I told that there were no extras to sell when some of them were held back and listed on ebay as leftovers? The only two I didn’t see in the class photos were the king cheetah and Siamese but if the other 5 were in the class photos then why were they not put in the store if they were leftovers or sold to people who missed getting one in the batch? I can understand if one or two were held back for touch ups but in the past when there were extras, they were either put back in the store or sold to people who missed the batch. I know because in the past when a couple friends and I had just missed a batch of grab bags, Susie was nice enough to email us and tell us she had a leftover one for us because we had asked. Now after they ‘sell out’, several just appear on ebay that were suppose to have been in the grab bag batch? I wouldn’t mind if there were special pieces left out of a grab bag batch that were not in photos that were put on ebay or ones specifically painted to be set aside for ebay but why are they are being listed as leftovers from a grab bag batch after I was told there were were no leftovers?

February 10, 2015 at 10:35 am #925417Congratulations Wolfen! That one is gorgeous and one of my favorites, too! Many pretty wolves posted already! I hope mine gets here soon……
February 10, 2015 at 1:38 pm #925421So far the darker greys are calling to me the most, along with the one maned wolf I’ve seen. Thought this could change once the class photo is out, which I hope is soon since I’m eager to see what other beauties there are to expect from ths batch! ;P
Rodney got a dark grey one and the wolf has metallic golden eyes. I’ll be posting a pic later today…;)
February 10, 2015 at 2:14 pm #925422I guess I’m on the other side of the fence on the eBay debate. I’ve had such a miserable time trying to trade in the past year that I get excited when I see one of my favorites pop up on eBay. Otherwise I would’ve had a 0% chance at it anyway.
My only complaint about the grab bags listed on eBay is that they don’t come with an awesome Melody sketch. I think that is half the excitement of splurging on eBay is the awesome sketch! 🙂February 10, 2015 at 2:37 pm #925423Regarding the grab bags that Windstone lists on Ebay, I feel like if people had their hearts set on getting one specific grab bag out of a batch of +140, they were almost certainly going to be disappointed regardless of where that piece gets sold. Getting upset because you were deprived of the 1 in 140 chance of getting your number one favourite straight from the store seems just a tad unreasonable, but that’s just my opinion.
I know we all get excited by looking at work-in-progress photos of grab bags, but it probably isn’t wise to become attached to individual pieces at that stage. Until we get an official class photo, there is always the possibility that some of those pieces won’t make it into the store for some reason or other. Heck, it’s possible that someone could bump into a whole cart full of grab bags and send them clattering to the floor in a hail of gypsum fragments (heaven forbid).
I think Windstone is well within their rights to hold back grab bags for Ebay that look like they got extra detail and attention from Melody compared to others in the batch. That said, if they are in the class photo, they should be included as part of the store stock, period. Pulling pieces for Ebay after they have been shown in the class photo seems like the only reason to feel misled.
February 10, 2015 at 2:46 pm #925424… in the past when there were extras, they were either put back in the store or sold to people who missed the batch. I know because in the past when a couple friends and I had just missed a batch of grab bags, Susie was nice enough to email us and tell us she had a leftover one for us because we had asked. …
For some reason I find the idea that people were able to buy through Susie after the “Notify” button went up very disturbing. I know that Susie is great and does her best to make Windstone customers happy, but I would rather see a policy that any leftovers go to ebay or back into the store if there are enough … not be sold behind the scenes.
Grab Bags are a gamble by definition and I think it should be “Sorry … if you missed them in the store, you missed them”.
February 10, 2015 at 3:07 pm #925426I have read the comments in this thread and am dismayed and disappointed. The implication that Windstone has somehow lied is appalling. It is not “unfair” for a company to make sound business decisions. The decision to take any piece, whether it’s been in the class picture or not shouldn’t matter to purchasers of items from that batch.
Frankly, putting an item on eBay gives more people the chance to see it and have the chance to purchase it. The thought that this is somehow unfair boggles my mind. Equally, with a batch size of 150, how can anyone think that just because they have fallen in love with a particular item that they will get it?
Feeling “disappointed” because something shows up in eBay after the batch has been sold out is, in my opinion, unreasonable. I’m sure that there are many reasons why a piece may be pulled after the class picture. Something other than a “nit” may be discovered during final inspection and packing. Heaven forbid it could even have been dropped and is in need of repair. Recall the recent “Fish and Chips” unicorn on eBay? That poor guy was from a long ago batch and was chipped, repaired, and painted. So, is that unfair, too? The GBY Unicorn batch was sold out and he was possibly in the class picture. I don’t recall and haven’t had the time to look.
Going after Windstone for holding pieces of THEIR product back for them to sell on eBay is unfair to them. If you are told that the items are no longer available for purchase does not mean that you are being misled or any such thing. It means that the batch is sold out. What Windstone chooses to do with the stragglers, the injured, those specifically destined for eBay, or those simply in another area of the factory (for whatever reason) when the batch was counted, etc is completely their business and none of ours.
I’m sure that the Grab Bags and eBay are an important part of the cash flow for Windstone and to deprive them of that revenue that they in turn use to run their business, provide employment for their staff, and allow them to stay in business is equally unreasonable and unfair.
Can we please go back to the original intent of this thread, which is to show off the GB wolves?
Life is beautiful.
