I don’t know..it’s a great looking Dragon..a PYO piece or an Outdoor Dragon would be excellent..but it looks almost too much like the Lap to be a regular edition pose-wise…the head actually looks like the SK which would work either way.. 😉 Wonder how big she is ?
She is pretty big, about a foot long. That may be too large to be an Empress. I thought that I would never use this dragon sculpt so I did pretty much copy this one to make the lap dragon. I don’t think it matters though, since they are different sizes, The scales are different and they face different directions. Maybe this is the lap’s mother.

The Lap’s Mom..yeah..I could see that…she does look older with more mature features…even the thicker horns look good. If she is slightly larger than the Emperor that’s ok..as was mentioned above females can be larger… so yeah..I’d buy her Empress or not.. ( more Dragons are always a good thing.. 😉 ) I also love the yellow eyes…any chance we can see it painted..like in photoshop or something ?
December 26, 2008 at 3:57 pm #747380I can just imagine putting this sculpt out as a new piece in the dragon line. You’d have so many sales from all the people who have “complete” color collections, for starters, so you’d have to release her in all the retired colors as well as the regular production colors. And she’d also be great for artist edition colors. Gorgeous! I’d have to get one in Gold, at least.
December 26, 2008 at 4:02 pm #747381I’m all in favor of another outdoor dragon being released.

I also asked about them being painted and called the Empress. Nothing so far though
I’d be in the poor house trying to get her in all the production colors though, well at least right now
December 26, 2008 at 4:59 pm #747383This one would work for an outdoor piece as well, not that many ever actually make outdoors anyway right ? 😀
Really, in addition to all the reasons mentioned above..the sculpt is already done or mostly done ( never know when you want to tweak something before painting.. 😉 ) , all the female dragons are in laying positions right ? Except for the SK that is, so it also fits there.. indoor..outdoor..I’d get it eventually..I’m behind right now as it is..lol
How difficult would it be to issue it in both outdoor and indoor pieces ? Would the cost be too much ?
December 26, 2008 at 6:13 pm #747384well.. Melody said it’s not refined enough to take the paint for an indoor piece..
I’m sure it could be painted in different colors but it would still have a rougher finish of the outdoor pieces..
which I’m sure everyone would think is fine.. LOL
either way I’ll have to get one no matter how she finishes it..

Ditto that!

Forgive my ignorance..but wouldn’t refining it just take a little more work to get it smoother ? Or is it an issue with the particular piece of medium she used ?
As said though..I don’t see a problem with the outdoor pieces so if goes that way it just means we could get an Empress a little further on down the road.. 😉 And we don’t have an outdoor piece that matches the rest of the look of the other Windstone Dragons… 😀
December 26, 2008 at 6:46 pm #747388I think refining it to that point would take a whole new cast and a lot of work with the scales and basically the whole piece.. which I think Melody said she’d rather not do.. because honestly.. it could take just as long as sculpting a new dragon in a different pose..
although I’m sure Melody could answer it better to make more sense out of it.. but I think that’s what she had said on the last topic
December 26, 2008 at 7:17 pm #747389It doesn’t look that bad really..but it’s hard to tell detail in almost any pic…that said..I wouldn’t mind any new dragons she decided to make… 😉
This is OT, but I can’t tell you how useful that pic in your sig has been to me when trying to compare all the diff sizes of each piece… you don’t have a bigger version do you ? 😀

Though I do hope to see an Empress some day.
And come to think of it, an Old Warrioress sounds awesome too. 😳 squeek*
@ DragonMaster : That’s a heck of a lot of dragons. 🙂
I wish I had the money to do that again. I have over or close to 100 but NEED more!!!

As a side note..what is the hierarchy of the Dragons ?
Emp and Empresses are diff than the reg hatchling which hatches out into a standard Mother or Father Dragon right ? The Emps become the adult Emperor and adult Empress… where do the Old Warriors and Laps fit in ? The Spectrals seem to be a breed of their own.
I have always wondered this too??December 26, 2008 at 8:11 pm #747392Dragon Master wrote:Blade-of-the-Moon wrote:An old Warrioress or ( Matriarch maybe ) would be nice..something like a larger..more worn version of the Mother sculpt perhaps ?

I have always wondered this too??I like backstories if you can tell..it’s possible there was no ryhme or reason to the sculpts..but I know I like having some kind of idea or story in mind when I do artwork.
Here’s another : Where did the OW get his scars from ? All the other Dragons are spotless..so who was he fighting with ? You would assume another Male… maybe he tackled with an Emperor or even a Kirin or Unicorn..perhaps he was just feisty in his youth but ended up on the bad end of every conflict..so he was clumsy too..though since he made it to old age he learned much from those battles… I think I have a name for my OW when I get him.. OW:Obi Wan … XD
