Hi Everyone!
I had a PYO thread back in 2013, but since my pics are no longer linked on that thread I thought I’d start a new one. I’m so Excited because I’m starting to have some SPARE Time to PAINT! Yay! I’ve done a few PYO Swaps recently but I’ve not had the chance to paint PYOs where I can show WIP pics…. so Here Goes!First up is a PYO Rooster that I started last Friday. I was going to do another Zombie Rooster similar to the one I did for Natasha in the Spring PYO Swap. And I wanted to try the neat Dragonfly color shift paints that Mika told us about. These are my first WIP photos. I started with a black base coat and used the Violet-Blue-Green on the tail feathers and Gold-Red-Violet on the neck. HOWEVER I believe my Rooster may turn out to be something other than a Zombie… we’ll see what he tells me he wants to be as I continue to paint him. The colors are really pretty and so shiny! ^_^

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comThe dragonfly paints are actually a top/clear coat (Satin or Gloss, I don’t recall which)… so you may have issues painting layers on top of it.
I purchased them forever ago and still haven’t used them haha.I’m always interested in how people paint the roosters, so I can’t wait to see what you end up doing with him 🙂
LOL! Yes, and that’s part of the fun of experimentation! I was thinking of adding a more solid paint color as accents overtop of the Dragonfly paints but not covering them up completely. A dry brush technique I use may provide some interesting results. Future WIP pics will see how they fare and if my experiment is successful. On their own the Dragonfly paints are very subtle and interesting as they are.

Here are more WIP pics of my Rooster… Boy the metallic and color shift colors are really hard to photograph! These are taken in natural light and you can’t see it that well because of the subtle hues, but I do have some green on the blueish feather areas. You can really see the difference up close and personal – and boy does this Rooster shine! I think he wants to be a Holiday Rooster and definitely not a Zombie. ^_^

Not currently open for PYO commissions.OK – WIP Pics Round Three! His comb and waddle are now done as well as his beak! I’ve also added some more green highlights to his blue tail and wing feathers and darkened the other wing feathers and chest. Only some feather accent details to go on his chest and mid wing then the final sealing coat to go! Almost finished! I found that I had several 4mm eye pairs that would be good, and I think the ‘green-gold’ eyes from Tohickon will be winners!
