It’s really confusing one way or the other. And you can click your own eggs. I’ve clicked mine (before posting them anywhere else) and seen the numbers go up.

HA shows what they know 😆 I’ve been clicking mine anyway just in case.
This is my only response from their forum so far
“I believe that clicks only happen once per computer. Views, however, count once per day, so your friends are helping your eggs by giving them views every day.”Which doesn’t make sense since the only place I have mine posted is here and the clcks go up everyday. Good point about the views though.
May 6, 2008 at 9:28 pm #677677well I did tell you that I’m just a post-fog newbie. yes, I’m “undertow” ^_~ Like I said, I don’t quite understand clicks. I do know that sometimes I frequent here on lab computers, so that might be one reason for clicks going up, especially if others do that too, and at least for me, clicks go up far more slowly than unique views and views. Also, I clicked on eggs here when I read this forum, before I joined it, so you never know what passers-by might be clicking on your signature. ^_~
of all of the stats I think I understand “unique views” the least… still, it’s pretty clear that viewing/clicking on eggs daily isn’t wasted effort, and really does help them hatch. ^_^
oh, and clicking your own eggs does count, I learned that on my own (even made an egg sick once by accident…)May 6, 2008 at 10:07 pm #677678cryptarch wrote:well I did tell you that I’m just a post-fog newbie. yes, I’m “undertow” ^_~ Like I said, I don’t quite understand clicks. I was actually referring to the info in the pinned topics. I thought I read somewhere about your own clicks not counting 😀 It was confusing enough before the fog! 😆
May 6, 2008 at 10:34 pm #677679I’ve not read that, but then I am newer to this than you. I thought that might be you on the forum, but I’ve learned to assume that names don’t always cross over. I do find the whole thing rather confusing.
May 6, 2008 at 10:35 pm #677680eaglefeather and I are on the dragon cave forum with the names we use here as well.

Really? So I got me a Dino coming? I hope?!!
Yep! The dino eggs come in red spotted, yellow spotted, green spotted and blue spotted. I’ve got a red dino egg myself.
May 7, 2008 at 12:29 am #677689Here is the full explanation on clicks for those who cannot view it at the cave 😉
Thanks go to Solarcat at the DC forumA click is when someone clicks the links to your dragons. Clicking a link to go to a dragon directly does NOT provide a view, and so it is possible for your clicks to overtake your views or unique views if you post only a link, instead of the image. (This is bad for the health of your dragon). A click is counted only once per IP, officially, although there have been a few reported cases of clicking counting more than once.
Here’s a link to my adult Gray dragon. If you click it, you’ve just given him a click (and only a click): Click!A unique view is the first time an IP views your dragon. Again, it doesn’t matter by person – if I log into 10 different computers to look at your dragons, and each has a different IP, I’ve just given you 10 unique views. This is different than refreshing ten times, which would give you 1 unique view, and 10 regular views. Definition of a “view” follows:
A view is when a person sees the image of your dragon. The image you see after clicking a dragon’s link does not count! To use my gray dragon again…
CODE
http://dragcave.ath.cx/image/y2Ni.gif <– His actual image link
http://dragcave.ath.cx/image/y2Ni/1.gif <– The image link on his personal page of my scrollClicks do NOT generate views.
Clicks on your scroll, however, do. They have the added advantage of causing a view for all your dragons at once. Clicking the link to my scroll in my signature will result in a view for all my dragons. (Same rules apply for anyone else’s scrolls that you click – put your scroll in your signature, it’s a great way to get help sometimes, or at the very least to illustrate what you’re asking your question about.)
If you have never looked at my dragons before, they’ll all get a unique view. If you have checked, but I have picked up some new once since your last view, then only the new ones will get a unique view, but all will get a regular view. The easiest way to get a view is to provide an image to your dragon in your signature somewhere, as long as the forum did not block it.
user posted image <– Does not generate views, because it is blocked by this forum.
user posted image <– Would not generate views, even if unblocked, because it is the url to the image from the scroll, not the actual url of the dragon image.
user posted image <– Does not generate views because it has been uploaded to photobucket, and is no longer the DragCave image.*The example used in this post is a grown gray dragon, so any results from clicks or viewing images will neither help her nor hurt her. She is used for illustration purposes only*
