During that week of no computer and maltese reference pics, I worked on my phoenix instead. Yah, I know, very unoriginal… but I wanted a firey bird for my first one. He’s almost done. I’m just trying to decide on the tail “bone”. It might tone it down a little; I think it may be a tad bright. Although, I kinda like it. 😆 LOL
The front of the wings also seem “unfinished” to me… although I like the back view. I may just leave them as they are. *ponders*
Oh, and the beak and feet are not bluish-purple. That’s just my camera eating colors again. >.< It's more of a shiny purplish-rose.

Though I see what you mean that the tail ‘bone’ might be a little distracting from the rest of the tail. Beautiful work!lol’s at Koishi’s awesomesauce!

Well, I’ve already started adjusting things on him. 😆 Tail has been toned down a tad (looks better), and I’ve worked some on the flight feathers. I just wasn’t happy with them. They look much better now IMO. I’ve also reddened up his chest some and will probably continue a bit with the red onto his wings. And then I’ll probably find more things that need tweaking before I’m done. LOL
Ooo look at that smooth blending! Love it! Love where the neck scales meet the feathers. The antiquing and blending there.
