Is there a name for unicorns with clawed feet? o.o Well, I like the card. Reminds me of this book I read…although they were not unicorns, were all black, and didn’t have clawed feet…just sharp teeth, heh. So I guess I connect them because they’re both ‘fierce’? And horse-like. 😀 It was called Key of the Keplian. One of my favorites, I’ve read it like 5 times! Anyone else ever read that?
Man MG, yours look great! I love that you used those little canvas cards!
Hmm. The fanged unicorn creatures reminded me of a book I read—Elvenbane. I looked up that book and one of the co-authors is the same–Andre Norton. In Elvenbane, they’re mostly called “one-horns,” so nothing specific to a fanged unicorn. I am not aware of a special name for clawed unicorns, either. Just kinda went with something different with one main horn and sub-horns and claws.

Hey, I read Elvenbane too! 😀 There were dragons in that, too, I think…it’s been a long time. I would re-read it, but I seem to recall finding it kind of depressing for some reason? I think she killed a character I liked. x_x;

Thanks so much Kitsune, glad you like them! 🙂 That canvas card stock is awesome, I love the texture and weight! The tiger was painted in acrylics, and the Thoklok (aka Thokdragon, my own character) is mixed media on bristol stock.
November 23, 2010 at 10:25 pm #826443Daydreamer, have you already thought of a ‘theme’ for the next time you do this? >.>
November 23, 2010 at 10:43 pm #826444Mine are late, late, late due to the extreme weather we’re having 😳 I got stuck in Utah by it, finally got back home to Idaho and now we’ve had no mail pick-up because we’re being blizzarded on… Y’all may just have to do this without me 😥

i haven’t decided on anything just yet. maybe it should be more specific so that people who think outside the box and do something different dont have to feel bad (even though there is NO reason to!). i am open for suggestions 🙂
also, if anyone has any suggestions or feedback on how this swap was conducted (even though we’re not quite finished yet), PLEASE let me know 🙂 i want to make this a fun project for everyone!

Maybe pick a color and tell everyone to work with it? That could be interesting. e.e Or just a thematic word, like ‘ocean’ or ‘forest’ or something…and they could use it however/in whatever context they wanted. >.> As long as it was in there somehow!
November 29, 2010 at 9:48 pm #826448Oh, I got a few themes… just a few, mind you. 😈 Actually, some of the things I think would be cool are moonlight/night, sunlight/day, antique, tribal/native american, seasons, steampunk, mecha…. 😳
November 30, 2010 at 11:16 pm #826449cards are swapped and going in the mail tomorrow! i also will be deciding on a new theme this week and opening for signups for the next one 🙂
December 1, 2010 at 2:08 am #826450squee e.e I’ll try to do more than one card next time!
December 1, 2010 at 3:15 am #826451Oh what about a seasonal theme? Like winter or Christmas, fall, spring, summer, that kind of thing.
December 1, 2010 at 7:59 pm #826452Yay! I can’t wait to see which ones I get! 😀

Oohh, I wouldn’t mind doing a Christmas/winter theme. o.o But would we have enough time before Christmas? =

That is a great idea…. but i don’t think *I* would have time! Yikes, I can’t believe how close it is already… I’m jealous of those folks who all they have to do is go to the store(or online) and buy gifts. I’m already so behind trying to make everything by hand 🙄
