KK so here goes my first review ^_^
Title: Rosario + Vampire
Synopsis: (from Wikipedia) A 13-episode anime adaptation produced by Gonzo and directed by Takayuki Inagaki aired in Japan from January 3, 2008 to March 27, 2008 on Tokyo MX, Chiba TV, and TV Kanagawa, with later runs on TV Saitama, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, Aomori Broadcasting Corporation, and Kids Station. Six DVD compilation volumes were released between April 25 and September 26, 2008,[5][6] and a DVD/Blu-ray box set was released on January 29, 2010.[7] The anime quickly became notorious for its excessive use of fanservice in the form of panty shots, leading the series to be censored on certain channels during its TV broadcast.[8]
A second 13-episode season, entitled Rosario + Vampire Capu2 (ロザリオとバンパイア CAPU2 Rozario to Banpaia Kapucchū?), aired on TV Osaka between October 2 and December 24, 2008 with subsequent runs on Tokyo MX, Mie TV, Chiba TV, TV Kanagawa, TV Saitama, Gifu Broadcasting System, Inc., Aomori Broadcasting Corporation, and Kids Station. Six DVD volumes were released between December 21, 2008 and May 22, 2009,[9][10] and a DVD/Blu-ray box set was released on March 19, 2010.[11]
The opening theme for the first season is “Cosmic Love” and the ending theme is called “Dancing in the Velvet Moon”. For the second season, the opening theme is “DISCOTHEQUE” and the ending theme is “Trinity Cross”; all songs in the series are performed by Nana Mizuki, the voice actress for Moka Akashiya in the series. The anime is licensed in North America by Funimation Entertainment,[2] and released both seasons on December 20, 2011.[12][13][14][15] Funimation initially encountered production issues from the Japanese licensors, causing a series of delays with their release date. Originally intended for release on March 19, 2011, the release date was pushed back to May 17, 2011,[16] and later to July 19, 2011.[17] The anime is also licensed in Australia and New Zealand by Madman Entertainment, who already holds licensing rights to the manga, and will release both seasons in 2012.[3]Star Rating:
Review: Lots of silliness!! This anime has a lot of panty shots and boobs, lots of boobs. It’s a funny anime with really no point. But a good watch if your in the mood to laugh. All the characters are like-able and silly. But every episode in the first season is pretty much the same. Something happens, the main character saves the day…..
Warnings and Praises: Warning: Adults only, this anime is not for kids. Lots of adult humor, and pointless panty shots. But it’s an anime that at the same time makes fun of that, so it’s a good laugh. Only 2 seasons but the manga has something like 14 volumes. So it’s kind of wrapped up at the end & kind of not. The narrater bat (Co Buddy) is so funny! Weeeee (watch it & you’ll be saying it too)

Review: This anime sounded great & started out pretty good. It quickly gets weird. It only has one season (12 episodes) so it starts to move very fast & they explain things in an odd way. I think this is one of those animes where things are lost in translation and might be better watched subbed in Japanese. Following the story gets a little hard around episode 4 or 5 where they start to introduce new characters that really have no point.
Warnings and Praises: Lots of nudity and adult themes. A few times it boarders on being Hentai, so be warned. The dragon looks cool and the animation is nice for the most part. The animation is some episodes becomes super cheese and then goes back to normal.

Title: Iria: Zeiram the AnimationSynopsis: (from Wikipedia again) The story begins with Iria as an apprentice to her older brother, Glen, a veteran bounty hunter, and his partner Bob, who work for Ghomvak Security along with a somewhat loutish hunter named Fujikuro. During a rescue mission to a hi-jacked spaceship called the Karma, they discover that the hi-jacker is actually a seemingly indestructible alien called Zeiram that broke out of the cargo hold during transit and began to massacre the crew. Bob is critically wounded by Zeiram while evacuating the survivors, and Gren is lost while attempting to kill Zeiram by destroying the Karma. Returning to Myce, Iria finds herself targeted by assassins working for Tedan Tippedai, the corporation that owned the Karma, and discovers a covered-up plot to control Zeiram in order to use it as a weapon. Iria escapes with the help of Fujikuro and reunites with Bob, who never recovered from his injuries but had his mind downloaded into a computer program. Together they continue to investigate rumours that Zeiram has appeared on Myce, and try to find out what happened to Glen, who also seems to have survived the Karma’s destruction….

Review: This was my first anime besides Sailor Moon, it’s what drew me into anime to begin with. This one is a serious one for the most part so not the one you want to watch if you want a laugh. I love the action in this one, watching a woman do what she needs to do without needing a man to come save her! It’s I think about a three hour movie but time well spent.
Warnings and Praises: There’s some blood in this one but how can one be a bounty hunter without a little blood? Nudity, I think only the shower scene but that’s mostly steam blurred. As far as the voice acting, the English dub is pretty good, all the characters seemed to match their person.

Synopsis:
In a high school that serves as a way station to the afterlife, newcomer Otonashi meets a girl named Yuri, who draws him into the SSS, a faction that battles for humane treatment of those in this purgatorial world.
Angel Beats! takes place at a high school acting as a limbo, where students learn to give up any lingering attachments they still have from life before continuing to an afterlife or reincarnation. Those in the afterlife school can still feel pain as they did when they were alive, as well as dying again, only to awaken later with no injuries. The story follows the main protagonist Otonashi, a boy who lost his memories of his life after dying. He meets Yuri, a girl who invites him to join the Afterlife Battlefront (死んだ世界戦線 Shinda Sekai Sensen (SSS)?), an organization she founded and leads which fights against God for the cruel fates the SSS members experienced in life. In the SSS, there is a four-girl band named Girls Dead Monster that acts as a diversion during missions, and an organization called the Guild that mass produces weapons out of dirt and supplies them to the SSS. Their only enemy is Angel, a girl with supernatural powers who fights against the SSS. Angel creates her powers with the aid of a computer program called Angel Player. The rest of the afterlife school is populated by a large number of “normal” students and teachers Yuri deems “non-player characters” (NPCs) as they are not human, but look and act the part.
As Otonashi begins to get used to things, the first of the characters to fulfill her dream and pass on is Iwasawa, the leader of Girls Dead Monster, who disappears in front of a crowd of people. Angel, whose real name is Kanade Tachibana, loses her position as student council president and the vice president Naoi succeeds her. Naoi uses powers of hypnosis to control NPCs to fight for his own interests against the SSS, but Otonashi stops him after acknowledging Naoi’s existence and he subsequently joins the SSS. Otonashi regains his memories with the aid of Naoi’s hypnosis and agrees to continue with the SSS. Otonashi befriends Kanade and invites her to join in on SSS activities. After Otonashi fully remembers the details of his life and death, he starts cooperating with Kanade to help the other SSS members move on, and Kanade is reinstated as student council president in accordance with their plan. Yui, another Girls Dead Monster member, is the second of the characters who passes on.
When mysterious shadow monsters begin attacking the SSS, Takamatsu gets devoured by one, only to reappear as an NPC. Otonashi reasons with the other SSS members and many of them agree to pass on in lieu of becoming an NPC, including the rest of Girls Dead Monster, Chaa of the Guild, and several unnamed members. Yuri destroys computers responsible for the shadow program, which was programmed to activate when love was detected in the world. Those who are left—Otonashi, Yuri, Kanade, Hinata and Naoi—hold a graduation ceremony where they thank each other for their support. After Naoi, Yuri and Hinata pass on, Otonashi learns that Kanade’s regret was not being able to thank him for the heart she received from Otonashi after his death. Otonashi is heartbroken after she thanks him and passes on, as he has fallen in love with her. In the epilogue, a reborn Otonashi and Kanade meet each other on the street in the real world. In an alternative epilogue, Otonashi is shown to have stayed behind in the afterlife to help people pass on.Star Rating:
Review: This anime was not what I expected! It was so much better. It started out funny and thought provoking. By the last episode if you’re not crying there is something wrong. The story is deep and complex, with a lot of surprises thrown in throughout the series. And it’s nice because everything is all wrapped up at the end. The ending is sad but great at the same time.
Warnings and Praises: The dubbed version has lots of great voice over actors (I’m sure if you watch anime you’ll recognize a few) If you’re into J-pop the music is great too! Only reason I didn’t give this one full 5 stars is I’m not sure if I could watch it again. Not because it’s not watchable but because it’s such a tear-jerker towards the end. Only down side I would say is it’s a little slow at first and the episodes up to about 6 just seam the same. Just keep watch!
March 11, 2012 at 10:23 pm #874669Synopsis: (from Wikipedia) Set in an alternate Earth in the mid twentieth century, Strike Witches tells the story of a fight to protect that world using a combination of magic and technology in a fictional recreation of events occurring in World War II with the national armies joining forces to confront an overwhelming alien threat together instead of fighting among themselves.
The Strike Witches are young women with high magical potential who are recruited into military organizations around the world to fight against the enigmatic Neuroi, which began an invasion of unprecedented scale on human territory in the year 1939. This puzzling enemy force has appeared frequently and without warning in many areas across the world throughout history. The weapons of the Neuroi mostly take on forms similar to aircraft, but their most troubling tactic is the spreading of a corrosive miasma. Not only do normal humans have no defense against this miasma, but the remnants of the land affected by it are processed by the Neuroi into new weapons, crumbling huge sections of former nations into the sea. As the miasma seems to be unable to spread across large bodies of water, humanity has designated such areas as their main lines of defense.
In order to bring out their potential for use in battle, each Witch equips a unique machine onto their legs: the Striker Unit. With the Striker Unit equipped, they gain the ability to fly and their tapped magical potential provides the strength to utilize weapons far too heavy and powerful for a normal person. A defensive field is also created that can protect the Witches from the Neuroi’s miasma, as well as other physical weaponry, making them humanity’s trump card in the war.

Review: This one is one of those that I admit does a lot of panty shots so if you don’t want that, this one is not for you though me and my husband laughed a lot at how sillyly it would happen over and over again. Moving on, this one goes back and forth between funny and serious, the serious mostly being the battles with the Neuroi. There’s quite a few girls to keep track of but most of them have distinct personalities that aren’t really boring, my husband and I again had fun figuring out who these reminded us of, one was Hermione Granger. The battle scenes tend to happen a bit too often but again the funny bits make up for it.
Warnings and Praises: Again, panty shots, no likey? This one is not for you. Nudity, a bit but it seemed like a beam of light or something else would cover them or the blurry steam. I can’t think of any blood off hand, mostly just blaster/gun battling and enemy goes poof in an explosion type.

4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinMarch 11, 2012 at 10:25 pm #874652Synopsis: (from Wikipedia) Set in a period in the far future, in which humanity is almost extinct and most of the population are monsters. It is mostly set in the offices of a private police company and focuses on the life of Natsuki Sasahara, a young catgirl, and her co-workers: Foxgirl Sakura Bokuseiinmonzeninari, werewolf Batanen Fujioka and his cousin Tommy Fujioka.
Star Rating:
Review: This one is one of my favorites, the synopsis doesn’t really tell much about the anime itself though. Basically it follows the daily life of Natsuki as she bumbles through her day of being a bounty hunter, usually shocking or shooting the wrong target or being distracted by something moving and pouncing on it. I love the humor in this one, Natsuki is always giving in to her more catlike instincts, Batenan is usually getting in some sort of trouble due to being a dirty old man most of the time, Tommy well let’s just say Tommy has a weird kink we find out later one but he’s usually a cute puppy dog, Sakura well she’s mostly focused on gaining enough power to become a true nine tailed fox and money.
Warnings and Praises: I think there’s female frontal nudity and a little bit of male but it’s blurred or covered up that I remember. Anyhoo, this a good anime if you want a good laugh. But one more warning, from what I heard, the budget was cut towards the “end” of the series, they were allowed to make an ending but it’s a bit weird of one due that. If you want to see more of what happens later, find the manga. Also this one I recommend watching the sub, the English actor for Natsuki just doesn’t seem to fit in my opinion.

4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinMarch 12, 2012 at 3:38 am #876479Way late to the party… just some comments mentioned above I wanted to comment on.
The Ged’s War Chronicles/Tales from Earthsea movie was the most BORING movie I have ever seen. It was “nothing happens-nothing happens-nothing happens-something happens-end”. It was such a waste of time for me T__T No wonder Miyazaki didn’t want his son directing a movie. I LOVE all of Miyazaki’s films (Howl’s Movie Castle = my all time favorite, although Mononoke is right next to it) but I don’t think I’ll give Goroo another chance.Badlands Rumble isn’t out yet? Huh. I had no idea. I saw it last year haha oops. That movie made me realize how much I enjoyed Trigun. I saw Trigun several years before it made it to the states… so a looong time ago. Need to revisit it.
I also saw The Borrower Arrietty such a long time ago! I always think I’m BEHIND on the times watching movies but it turns out I’m always ahead of the times >__>;; (I saw Earthsea before it was out as well)
As anyone seen Ao no Exorcist? I ran across a fanart of RinxYukio on a Japanese site and Rin having a tail interested me. So I tracked it down. Turns out it wasn’t even finished airing in Japan! So I actually had to wait for each episode to air before I could watch the next one. I REALLY enjoyed it. EXTREMELY rare for me, but I liked ALL the characters: I’m baffled myself lol. It was a great watch for me. I started reading the manga after watching the series, but somewhere along the lines I stopped. I prefer the book in hand to internet scans 😡 Anyway, perhaps some of you would like to look into it. I love Mephisto. He’s fabulous haha. He might be my favorite of them all.
Meanwhile, Ushio and Tora is still one of my absolute favorite manga/anime. One day, I hope to be able to build, or buy a fursuit of Tora. I would burst with happiness. To give you an idea, I was… 13? 14? When I was introduced to U&T and I still love it after all these years (11+). I have the VHS, and two DVD sets of the anime and the entire manga and artbooks. And… I just finished another artwork of U&T yesterday >.> Yep.
March 12, 2012 at 7:13 am #876482I really dug Utena until towards the end; there’s this crazy scene where Utena is in a hotel room with Anthy’s “brother” and she’s acting so powerless and sad it just drove me nuts! I never did finish it. Oh, and the car thing racing towards the end of the world…I was always like WTF is that supposed to be cool?
But I am going to look for Gravitation now, that sounds like a good, cute anime to snuggle up with when school gives me a chance to breathe.
March 13, 2012 at 5:55 am #876480Oh… I’ll be brave. Sorry if any of the following offends anyone 😡 I do watch weird anime. Also I’m not really good with explaining just why I love something. I’ll do my best, if anything you can wiki them.
I’m not good with giving things ratings, so I’m just going to explain the series and such to give you an idea of what they’re like, and you can search them out if any sound interesting.
Gravitation was one of my first loves in anime. Several friends and I (yes, men) loved to watch this series over and over. It’s about two best friends that want to make a band, and their hardships along the way, and the main character falling in love with a popular writer and the hardships of that. But, it is boy love. Aka MalexMale. It’s full of SUPER silliness and the like. Honestly, the ending scene kind of ruins the whole series… but if you can forgive the goofiness of it, you can still enjoy the series. Sadly, it seems to be VERY hard to find now. I have the manga as well, which is a good read. Again, it is silly but has its serious moments. Short series, only 13 eps. Decent sized manga.
Loveless. Another one that friends (again, men) and I would watch a lot. It’s about a 12 year old boy that is trying to find out why his older brother suddenly died. But this one could possibly really offend people, since while it is MalexMale, it’s kind of adultxchild. The creator has said that it’s not really a shounen-ai (means “boy love”), but let’s be honest, it is. And the main adult male, Soubi, lives with two children as well (boys) that he took in after almost killing them. There is also abuse (mother abusing 12 year old main character). A pretty emo/serious series. No real humor. The manga goes into WAY more depth, and actually finishes the series… since the anime doesn’t. I have the whole manga in Japanese, but only the first two in english lol (Japanese were bday gifts from some friends). Short anime, 12 eps, short manga, 8 books. I’ve cosplayed as Soubi haha.
Houshin Engi/Soul Hunter is an obscure anime that I love. It’s silly and serious at the same time. It’s based off of some Chinese mythology. It is about an immortal (Taikoubou) that has been sent to kill/seal the souls of evil beings/demons in the world as a kitsune is now controlling the emperor to make him do terrible things to his nation and people. Nothing that I can think of that could be offensive. There is a little blood, but not much. Scantly clad demons. The manga and anime differ GREATLY. I’ve cosplayed as Taikoubou… even though my favorite character is Shinkouhyou.
Surprised Shaman King isn’t up here yet. It seems to be a well known anime/manga. Pretty much as stated, it’s about shamans that fight in a tournament to become shaman king (the one with the great spirit. Father of spirits etc). Shamans use spirits to fight (they let them use their own bodies or integrate them into items). Spirits can be human or animal, though it’s emphasized that humans are the “less desired” spirit partner, so a lot of the spirits in the series are non-human. One of the minor characters uses a Jiang Shi to fight with (I love the Jiang Shi. He’s a favorite of mine). A Jiang Shi is a human that was killed and their body manipulated to fight/kill – this might be offensive to people? Maybe? There are MANY Jiang Shi in the series, but only one you see over the entire series. It is a LONG anime, 64 episodes (which normally I can’t handle). The manga is 33 books. They different slightly (things that happen to characters etc. Some names and events changed) but otherwise all the same. The manga is probably more violent than the anime… which isn’t VIOLENT really, but has some blood and of course, fighting. Heavy edited for america as it was put out in america for children (why do dubbing companies do this? x__x)
Petshop of Horrors. The very first manga I ever bought that got me hooked on manga instead of anime. About Count D (yes, a man even though he doesn’t look it in the slightest. He always corrects people about his gender, and dislikes being called female) and his petshop. He sells pets that take on human forms and it normally ends in the death of those who bought the pet. A local police officer named Leon, originally comes to the shop to investigate the deaths, but he becomes the Counts best friend (and even leaves his brother with the Count 24/7 later in the manga), though Leon is still always trying to find a way to convict D and is always accusing the Count of crimes. The manga is 10 books (and has some “happy ending” stories), but the anime is only 4 episodes and all of them are violent and have a lot of gore. The manga contains graphic gore as well. The thing I really like about the series is it has a deeper meaning. Each story told has a “beneath the surface” moral of the story. It has its funny moments (Count breaking a nail haha) but it’s mostly all serious stuff. Very very minor shounen-ai. Nothing to really speak of, just random silly moments between D and Leon. Also a scene with D and a male vampire and D and Tetsu. All are manga only.
Yami no Matsuei. About shinigami that are assigned to retrieve people that should have died, but haven’t for whatever reason. Or, in a few cases, protect people that aren’t suppose to die at a certain moment. The series can be seen as shounen-ai, but light. The creator mentioned that it’s kind of “half” shounen-ai. Wiki quotes that “has been called ‘a gateway drug into shōnen-ai and yaoi'”. The opening of the anime has a the two main males with the younger one, shirt half off, laying on the olders lap, plus some things in later episodes. The main villain is always hitting on Tsuzuki, the keeper of the Hall of Candles, also male, has obviously attraction toward Tsuzuki (and shows it whenever Tsuzuki is around) and one other man, whos name I don’t remember since I didn’t care for him, is also attracted to Tsuzuki. The two mains are also pretty close and some actions could be considered shounen-ai. But compared to Gravitation or Loveless, it’s minor. There is a good amount of blood, and a rape/murder/abuse of a main character (16 male) mentioned several times. One of the two main characters, Tsuzuki, is pretty silly most of the time, and often times will “transform” into a puppy (not really, just for the comic relief) and Hisoka, his partner (the 16 year old kid) is super serious compared to Tsuzuki. The anime is short. 13 episodes or so if I remember correctly. The manga suddenly stops at issue 12. I heard the creator just didn’t want to do it anymore :< But the short anime finishes (doesn't just stop) though obviously, that means huge differences from the anime and manga.
FAKE. It only had like… a single episode anime, so really I’m talking about a manga. For one, read no further if shounen-ai/yaoi isn’t your thing. This is about two police and it focuses heavily on police work and so, yes, gore and violence. It has its funny moments, especially every time Dee tries to kiss (or anything else) with Ryo (two main males). B/Vikky and Carol (I once heard his name is Vikky, but was changed to Bikky in the english) are two children that are good comic relief (though are also in serious situations thru out the manga). B/Vikky lives with Ryo after his father is killed, and Carol frequently stays the night at Ryo’s just because. I love the stories told with the police work and such. The text in the manga are very lengthy. 7 issue manga, and the 7th is rated “M” for… “situations”. If you find crime/police work interesting, and like or put up with shounen-ai, this would be a good manga from you. You could probably skip the 7th volume if that kind of stuff bothers you. I had a few male friends that borrowed this manga series from me constantly.
Zoids Chaotic Century. I know a Zoids was already mentioned, but this is a different one. It is the first Zoids series. I watched it back in middle or high school, and even though I have the dvds I haven’t watched it in some time… so sorry this review is so sparse! But I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve watched it many times over, and even have imported games from it. It’s basically about a war (isn’t everything?). I’ve only seen like, 2 episodes of the series that was already reviewed, so I can’t say how much they differ (except I didn’t like what I saw of the second series).
Utena. Oh geez I love this series. It’s a pretty long series (one I never finished) but the manga is really short (like 3 books I think). There is a lot of girlxgirl in this, and some boyxboy. It’s a weird series… about a girl that wants to be a prince. But there are some weird themes, like “owning” a girl. Duel of the Roses decides who will “own” the Rose Bride, Anthy. So there is a lot of fencing to try and win the Rose Bride. Uh, no blood that I can remember, but again, weird themes. And sometimes you might even not understand wth is going on haha. Some slight abuse (slapping, degrading Anthy as she is often treated as property) and what can be seen as slight incest (Touga’s sister is seriously into her brother) though it’s not really elaborated on (nothing like Angel Sanctuary or anything) so it’s nothing to really be worried about. This is one of the extreme few anime that I enjoy the english dubbing just as much as the original Japanese (I will never choose english over Japanese, as I find 98% of dubs absolutely awful). Uh, obviously, since the manga is like 3 books but the anime is like 60+ episodes, there are a lot of changes.
Okay, Medabots, Yuu-Gi-Oh, Digimon Season One are all loves of mine. I’m pretty sure y’all know them, so I won’t say much about them. Except, I imported Yuu-Gi-Oh so I watched it all in Japanese, not english (not sure how much they differ, I did watch quite a bit of the english, but not enough to really say). I watched Digimon in both Japanese and English, but the Japanese stands out to me. It’s not edited like the english version is.
Yuu-Gi-Oh Season Zero is a good one most people have never heard of. It is the original YGO series (and Seto has green hair!). It is quite violent. If you like YGO, seek this one out. But it is very difficult to track down. Obviously, it is only in Japanese.
Edit. I should note that the YGO I’m talking about is the first season. The season that was first aired in america, the one with Yuu-Gi, Seto, etc. Not any of the sequels that had different main characters. Nothankyouplz.Golden Gash Bell! Super cute anime. I’m pretty sure it’s well known. I’m still working on it (episode 55 out of 150 x__x) but I love it every step of the way. Things that might be offensive: Children are fighting each other, and some do die. There are also adult fighters that, obviously, fight and try to/do kill children. The very first episode has a huge full screen of Gash’s boy parts. His parts are shown many times thruout the series, some more are full screen close ups, but pretty much the first like, 15 minutes of the first episode he is naked. There is blood. If you’re watching the english version, it will be HEAVILY edited since it was originally aired in america for kids.
This is NOT anime, but just animation. Dragon Booster. It’s about people that race dragons, but really it’s about a boy named Artha that rides the “dragon of legend” Beau, and is the dragon booster. Basically it’s the whole, goodie-person that helps everyone he can kind of deal and his rival (Moordryd and his father, Word) that cause issues for him. The dragons in the series are not “normal” dragons! So if you go in expecting the dragons you’re use to, prepare to be disappointed. Honestly, I like the fresh take on the dragons. It can be pretty cheesy at times, but it’s enjoyable if you let some of the cheese go lol. It only had one series since I guess they didn’t have enough viewers. I admit, I have tons of toys from it 😡 (and several are right smack next to this computer) and boy were they ever hard to track down and expensive. As far as I’m aware, only two dvds came out (I have them /sob) so you’ll have to torrent/download the series if you’re interested in it.
Phew. Okay, I’m done for now. Hope any of the info is decent enough haha. Sorry for any typos (though I think I edited them all out). Gah.

Her severe image change and the new stress it becomes even more profound when she discovers a webpage dedicated to her day-to-day life that clearly is the work of a stalker. Mima’s mental state further unravels as people connected to the drama are found murdered and she repeatedly sees a strange disfigured man following her. At times one is afraid no answers will be forthcoming in this movie and we’ll have to simply guess what was really occurring, however this movie has a great ending that ties up the story nicely.

Review: This is a stand alone movie running about 80minutes, not a full series. It’s creepy, dramatic, and unforgettable. The setting feels a little disconnected because of the clear evidence that the story is removed from the contemporary time by a few decades, but the story is certainly not something limited by the time period. Even though the film is from the 90s the world depicted will seem much more like the 80s for American audiences (just check out that retro computer!).
As great as the film is, I find it off-putting that all the Otaku featured are male and generally the stereotypical loners. The prime candidate for stalking and murder is also a loner Otaku with severe facial disfigurements. I don’t want to ruin the ending, but there is a bit of a theme in this movie about people who are do not fit a cultural standard for beauty doing violent and terrible things. It’s still a great film, but this did give me pause. I found out about this film from a panel at Megacon for the top 10 animes all fans should see, and I testify that they were telling the truth about this one.Warnings and Praises: LOL where to begin? Graphic nudity, full frontal female with none of the blurring commonly seen in Japan. Severe violence, like punching out eyes with screwdrivers and stabbing people with umbrellas…really. The film crew stages a rape scene for their TV drama. I think this director also worked on “Paranoia Agent”…and it shows!

I have been without anime for too long! It’s time for a little anime therapy. I picked something short (12 episodes) so I wouldn’t get too distracted from everything else I NEED to be doing right now. LOL. There’s a couple of animes in the 175 – 200 episode range that I would like to watch, but I AM SO NOT touching those right now… for I may fall into the abyss, never to be seen or heard from again. XD
Title: Brave 10
<img src="http://i.animecrazy.net/Brave-10.jpg"Synopsis: (from Wikipedia) The story takes place during the Warring States period, approximately a year before the Battle of Sekigahara. Kirigakure Saizou, an Iga Ninja in search of his life’s path, comes across Isanami, an Izumo shrine maiden, being attacked by assassins. Isanami, who survived the burning of Izumo Temple by Tokugawa Ieyasu’s forces, is traveling to Shinshuu to seek sanctuary with Sanada Yukimura. At the same time, Sanada Yukimura is in the midst of gathering 10 subjects of extraordinary valor, the Sanada Ten Braves, whose combined strength will allow them to alter the course of history. During the course of the continuing battles, the mysterious power hidden within Isanami will awaken soon…

Review: Yes, I gave a twelve episode anime 4 stars. Really good for just 12 episodes… that, or I’m having serious anime withdrawals. LOL. It had some really fun characters. You actually got to know some of their personalities/eccentric quirks (rarely happens with 12 episodes, thus my reason for the rating). The downside is that the plot is obviously condensed, and you don’t get to really know some of the villains and side characters (too short!). But if you’re having one of those weekends where you don’t feel like doing anything (it’s been raining for 2 weeks straight), you can sit back and get this one knocked out pretty quick. The animation is nice. It’s got humor and action, and there are some serious parts here and there. Did I mention that it’s a bloody sin this one was too short! It had sooo much potential… I got hooked pretty quick. It feels like an introduction to another story arc (which would be awesome, but I doubt that will happen… shame). If the manga picks up again, I’ll probably get it… … …because I can so totally afford manga right now. >.<
Warnings and Praises: You’re dealing with ninjas (some with supernatural powers) and war so expect violence and blood. People get stabbed and slashed, but it’s not too over the top. The women are busty, and there’s also some nudity.
Opening theme Love this song! ^_^

Since I’m not working I have no excuse to not post them soon =/ Un-Go had to be my favorite anime surprise sleeper hit! it’s this adorable super natural detective anime, only 12 episodes, but wow Inga was the cutest and freakiest thing ever. Soul-eating demon child in panda get-up? Hell yes
oooo I loved Princess Jellyfish! I wish they’d translate the manga already I WANT MORE! All these short and more daring animes are fun, but what’s with the allergy to real, conclusive endings =PEh, anyone watch Deadman Wonderland? I LOVED it until I realized there was no ending. I thought the disc was defective, like, where’s the last episode? But it was still a treat to hear such naughty language in an anime. When the psycho girl was up for the loser’s little game show, what she called that sadistic doctor who does the amputations, it was awful but I laughed so hard!
January 18, 2013 at 2:35 am #891863Fairytail is one on my list. You’ll have to let me know how it goes. 🙂
A friend of mine made me watch about 3 episodes from Black Lagoon… after watching the episode with the twins and the nails… I passed on that one. Psychos. LOL.
I DID watch the unedited Golion. Thought it would be interesting to relive my childhood, as I watched Voltron after school. WTF! Who thought this would make a good kids’ show!? So much death! XD

Man I LOVE Deadman Wonderland, but yea, I was dissappointed they didn’t continue with the series. Same problem they had with Highschool of the Dead, it carried on much longer in the books, but not the animated series. *sad face* Princess Jellyfish has a similar issue huh? I wanted to see what happens but yea, I haven’t seen any new translation.
They are still going with Kimi Mi Todoke though, that series sucked me in majorly!!! *lovey cuteness overload*
Funny how I can go from something as effed up as Deadman Wonderland and be all SQUEE for Kimi Mi Todoke! LOL! I wish they would bring Toradora over already as well! Sentai Filmworks seems to be bringing a mot of titles over to America with no english dub. Normally I don’t mind subs, but I hate watching TV with my glasses on! LOL!
