Nice first PYO! I like the little spots of color in the scales. Kind of like random colored stones set amongst the scales.

Thanks for the compliments guys 😀 It makes it even more worthwhile getting the kind comments from others 😉

@ Ela_Hara I would really love to do a swap with you guys eventually, I just dont think Im quite ready yet, plus with my first PYO’s, I really would rather keep them for memories sake. After I have a few under my belt, then I do hope to be able to join in on a swap! Does the swap decide on a specific sculpt or is it anyone a person wishes to contribute?

I was initially scared to death to start this guy, but after some trial and error, I realized these guys are hard to totally mess up, and if you dont like a color, just paint over it, LOL ! The many tips and helpful advice given by others helped tremendously as well.

I have a Kirin and a keeper dragon to work on next, and just ordered a Kitsune to! So I have lots to keep me busy… which one will I work on next? I really dont know yet, lol ! But Im looking forward to it !

Actually, I’m new to the swaps myself… my first one was the Fall 2013 one and I had to pass on the Spring 2014 swap. It was really fun. It got me started with the PYO’s since my first PYO was done for my first Swap. 🙂
Dragonmedley usually hosts them and they seem to be different. Like last Fall it was a ‘Forest’ themed Swap, where the PYO sculpt was open, but you had to paint the piece with a forest theme, such as a forest animal, colorations, scenes, etc. I believe this past Spring’s Swap was an ‘Open’ swap. This is where any PYO sculpts painted in any color/schemes are available. Generally, you get a forum member’s name and their ‘wish’ list of sculpts/colors/themes to choose from and go from there. No one knows who has their name, and you don’t tell anyone who you are painting for. So, I guess it’s almost like our Forum’s version of a Grab Bag! 😉

Upon reading some of the other forum threads from past PYO Swaps, it seems that there have been some with specific sculpts selected as well. Like, I found out earlier this year that a ‘Muse’ only Swap was done when they first came out… the upcoming Fall Swap will be starting up soon. If you want to see what they are like, just follow along with the thread and see what happens – they are really fun! 😀 😀 😀 😀

Your muse came out awesome. I like the detail work you put into the scales. Very good job. I’m excited to see your next PYO’s.

I change my vote to Kirin. That is going to be just GORGEOUS.

Hehehe, thats the one I was leaning towards !

I have been painting some cheapy ceramics, halloween ones I got from the local dollar store, just to mess around with. I have found that they are way different to paint than the gypsum sculpts, and I am finding that they dont really motivate me. Its not rewarding, and Im starting to feel like Im wasting my time on those, lol ! So I will finish the few I started, and a few I was making for a friend, then on to the Kirin it is ! 😛

OK, so I had been working on a Ki-rin, but kinda got stuck and not sure what direction I want to go with him. Soooo, in the meantime, I been thinking about this color scheme for sometime now, and thought it would look good on my Kitsune ! Its my first attempt at any sort of color blending…. not that I did very well with it, but it was a lot of fun to paint !

So here he is, my Ice Kitsune !!

                #921923

                Wow, he’s so pretty!
