11/5/14 Grab Bag Baby Poad picture thread (Hoppies and Hippies)

I’ve been holding on to my unopened poad box for what, two weeks now? Trying to find the time to set up to film opening it for Quest 18. Well, that’s not happening – I was too tempted and too tired of waiting! I’m thrilled with the little one that was waiting on the other side of the box.

She’s in the top right corner of the store photo. Sparkly orange eyes, copper beak and gold claws, and even a little purple interference paint on her belly and feet. Her sides go from white to a light sky blue. I love all of the details – thank you Melody for another wonderful set of grab bags! I have to admit I broke down and ordered another two after all of the excitement 🙂

Kim, from the description, I don’t think it’s Canada Post who opened the box. They don’t open boxes, only Customs would, and when they do, they put a special tape that says they opened it. I think someone took the box, opened it, didn’t like the poads (like, how rude!), repacked it and put it back on the porch.

You’ll never know if it was the neighbour or someone else, though… No matter, they’re safe now!

Better that they didn’t like the poads than they did though. That would have been super sad if they’d never ended up in the proper place. Sounds like CP needs to update their computer systems so they have Kim’s correct address; it would be really bad if this happened again, especially with the holidays just around the corner.

What a pretty baby! She kinda looks like a dart frog/emperor penguin cross to me.

HAH, I hadn’t seen the penguin part before! Now I keep flipping her over so she has the penguin chest facing in the ‘right’ direction 🙂

After a little digging it looks like she’s styled after something in the Ranitomera genus of dart frogs, looking most like Ranitomera reticulata. If anybody else is looking to hunt down the dart frog their poad is mimicking, I can highly recommend the website http://www.dendrobates.org – they have lots of pictures!

I wasn’t too fond of this Poad when I thought that Melody had randomly combined dart frog elements to make the design, but now I’m really impressed by how well she transferred the frog pattern to the Poad.

Thanks Drag0n. I do have the one orange one for trade if you like it. I may even sell it for what I paid with shipping or trade it for a store poad if anyone would want to do that.

Poorly lit indoor photos, but it will be many days before I can photo outside, so these will do for now.

Kim, an alternative, since you move frequently, might be to get a post box. It’s cheaper and safer than having your mail forwarded. Just a thought.
