Hi, Melody! I know you and P.S. have been painting various Little Rock dragons in gypsum for eBay, and I was wondering if you were considering bringing them in as a P/LP item? Or, alternatively, will the cement versions ever come back?
I would also love to see the Rock Dragon in either a test paint or P/LP.
I am sorry if this question has been asked and answered a million times, but I did a forum search and haven’t found the answer yet…
Thanks so much for any response.
August 11, 2012 at 2:54 pm #884559I’d love to see the cement version come back! Mostly because I’d love a ‘floor model’ that’s on the sturdy side.
August 11, 2012 at 3:41 pm #884562I think the cement ones are done – I don’t believe they’re set up to cast in cement any more (though I could be wrong!)
I’d love to see some LP ones in gypsum! 🙂
August 11, 2012 at 5:27 pm #884567I’d love to see some more back in the store too. The ones coming out on ebay have been amazing! A few of the little lizard/gecko ones and that green one that was up by P.S. recently really were quite lovely!

We have a cart full of gypsum little rock dragons that I intend to paint as a limited production batch, but I have been putting it off. I need to come up with a nice, not-too-difficult color to paint them in,one that is distinctly different from the cement ones so there is no confusion over which is which.
No, we aren’t doing cement any more. 🙁August 11, 2012 at 8:41 pm #884576Hi, Melody! No, we aren’t doing cement any more. 🙁Yay! I was hoping that you would do some little rock dragons as an LP in gypsum. The old cement ones are so hard to find nowadays; I would love to have the chance to buy a new version.
August 11, 2012 at 10:26 pm #884580make gypsum ones pyo? Probably impossible but I can dream.
August 12, 2012 at 2:31 am #884601I’d love to see them in the glacier or lavender color !

No, we aren’t doing cement any more. 🙁YAY! LP Little Rocks…thanks Melody for everything you do!! I can be patient (gives me time to save the moolah). 🙂
August 12, 2012 at 6:09 am #884608So the only ones you ever designed for outside use are now no longer going to be able to be outside? Can I just say how very very unhappy I am with this decision?

They can not cast cement at all at the Oregon factory. It requires a very different setup and expense than gypsum and they simply don’t have the setup for it. I doubt it was merely a flippant decision.

No, we aren’t doing cement any more. 🙁It seems like 90% of the people that had the cement ones just kept them inside to admire, anyhow! I keep mine inside to enjoy, and also because I am scared of theft. They will probably sell better than ever, now, I’d guess. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comAugust 12, 2012 at 7:42 pm #884624Yeah, the cement ones will sell better too, for way over factory cost…so those of us who wanted them for the garden & don’t have to worry about theft won’t be able to have one either. About the only place I had room for one of these was the garden. Now my chances for a cement one are about down to never.

I wouldn’t say that. I found one on Craig’s List, brand new, for retail price at a little shop that still had stock. You never can tell when you’ll come across something and surprise yourself!
Unfortunately, Windstone can’t do cement casting any more, so we just have to keep an eye out elsewhere. 🙂
