Okay here I am with a pick of the 2011 crop of commissions and dolls I’ve made. I make them all from scratch, starting with a wire armature, sculpting fimo onto it then wrapping it in batting, measuring and hand sewing the fur then glueing on any bits like feathers, scales etc, and finally painting! The painting was the reason I’ve joined the forum, I’m desperate to glean some tips from the talented PYO members, maybe if I just stand a little closer I’ll absorb some talent… 😉

October 26, 2011 at 12:38 pm #860937That second-last one, the long white one, reminds me of a ferret that you pick up after it’s gotten into trouble 🙂
They’re awesome!

October 26, 2011 at 3:31 pm #860949I like the second and the fourth one-the dragon and the wolf. I haven’t ever seen a sculpted wolf like that! You have a great talent for sculpting

@dragonmedley I got into trouble on DeviantArt about that, everyone thought it WAS a ferret that I had dressed up and I got yelled at a few times for animal cruelty :S It took a few progress photos to reassure them it was actually a doll, I’m just really pleased it looks that realistic.
@Jennifer No way, that’s awesome! I feel all fuzzy thinking the amazing Nambroth has looked at my work haha <3
October 26, 2011 at 7:09 pm #860971Those are some pretty awesome pieces. Very detailed.

<3Seriously? Come on, you can so tell it’s not real! None of my ferrets were ever THAT skinny 😉

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmOctober 27, 2011 at 1:40 am #861007I love your work! I am a huge ferret lover, and I can already imagine you making some sort of fantasy otter… with feathers… and now I want one. Wonderful to meet you!
October 27, 2011 at 3:11 am #861018Welcome! And I really like that commission, Luca, I think its name is. But they are all really interesting! 🙂

October 27, 2011 at 6:54 am #861034woooow this work is simply amazing!
October 27, 2011 at 12:21 pm #861035@LavenderStarfish That’s an awesome idea, Liwanu – the first doll in first post – was heading along an ottery line but then I decided to add scales and well… He didn’t really turn out looking like an otter.
The otter in your avatar is too cute, I’ll definitely have to make one sometime! Nice to meet you too haha
@Lokie Luca was an incredible commission to do haha, SO many feathers. I still find red feathers floating around in boxes…

Edit:
Just finished another commission today, the Baby Balrog!
Got to use my new airbrush, woohoo!
