I’m sure it’s in here, but couldn’t find it. Can anyone tell me how to get an avatar within the specified size limit or if there’s anyone here who can create them? Thanks.

It helps if you have photo-editing software like photoshop, gimp, et cetera. I can help you out if you give me some idea of what you want.

In case you can’t read the text that gives the max size on avatars (since white on white is hard to read):

Maximum dimensions; width: 100 pixels, height: 100 pixels, file size: 9.95 KiB.

I’ve found that .jpg files can be memory hogs where as .gif and .png aren’t so bad. I’ll often crop what I want and then save it in all three file types to see which one fits the size restrictions the best. Here’s an article about the differences between gif jpg and png. And here’s one comparing gif vs jpg.

Psst – if you have Photoshop if you want to just save one type of file instead of going through all three – and see what the file size is before you create it use “Save for Web and Devices” An interface pops up where you can see each file type and how many kb it is before you save.

Just in case you didn’t know and wanted a time saver. 😉

I tend to forget about that option. 😆
