No, that’s not cussing. It’s the name of my new motorcycle – just in time for fall rain, but oh well. I’m excited as anything. My brother will go pick it up Thursday in a week. It’s way down in the French part, currently getting reduced to 34 PS, as required by Swiss law for the first two years of my driving, since it’s my first bike and I’m not 25 yet. I wish I could go pick it up myself, but I’ll be working. 🙁
This is it – pitbull-ugly, I know.
This is a good opportunity to ask: Who else on the forum is into, owns, drives motorcycles? (Can you believe that’s actually a topic we haven’t breached yet? 😯 )
September 24, 2007 at 6:50 pm #492727September 24, 2007 at 7:58 pm #619837Congrats, GB….that looks like a fun bike! I ride, but only on the back. I love it!
September 24, 2007 at 8:03 pm #619838Congrats GB. I also ride in the back of my bf’s bike. He has a Honda 1100xx (Blackbird is what he calls it). It is really fun and really fast.
September 24, 2007 at 8:10 pm #619839Congrats, GB! How cool! I like motorcycles, but don’t know much about ’em (mechanically anyway). Except that I’ll likely get either a motorcycle or a scooter in Okinawa.
Which brings to mind an old co-worker of mine… had a BMW motorcycle bigger than any Harley I’ve ever seen (would take 2 people just to lift it if it was laying down)… and he called it a scooter. Weird.
September 24, 2007 at 8:12 pm #619840I used to only ride on the back, until something clicked as Dad and I were speeding down the highway on his old ’50s BMW.
My brother taught to drive on his 50, and yesterday I graduated to his 650. The Buell is a huge leap from that (it’s got 1000 ccm, and if you’re thinking I’m crazy to start that big, well, I don’t disagree), but I think I’ll manage.
I have my own set of wheels now. I’m so proud. 😛September 24, 2007 at 8:15 pm #619841my friend in Spain has a Buell Ulysses XB12X…
and he has a Harley/Buell club going on over there….
and every few weeks Buell and Harley parts show up at my house…seems if they get them online from the US…it’s way cheaper than getting it in Spain…even with the shipping…
so I have spare parts everywhere…LOL
I’ll have to tell him you got it…he’ll be all excited that I know someone else with a Buell
LOL
September 24, 2007 at 8:18 pm #619842That’s pretty snazzy. I’d love a motorcycle…but we honestly don’t have room for it in our garage. Our garage barely fits our car 😛 And not having a car when both our families live 3 hours away, in opposite directions would be crazy, especially in the winter.
September 24, 2007 at 8:20 pm #619843😆
The other option was a Kawasaki Ninja. I was way close to getting one of them instead. But the Buell was available now, and that decided it. Besides, the Buell is better for winter. Now I hear it’s bad about rusting, though… I’ll just take extra good care of it.
Frozen, you’re a genius. I need to keep the option of ordering from the States in mind. Probably cheaper than taking it to a garage here.Maebnus: I’m curious about that BMW! I need to ask Dad about it.

Our family van got banned to the elements a long time ago. My Buell will be the fourth motorcycle in our garage. 😆
September 24, 2007 at 8:29 pm #619845yes…I get to see all kinds of parts..
and the BMW’s are sweet motorcycles….
but for that much money…pfft…buy 2 Buells…or one car… 😯

September 24, 2007 at 8:38 pm #619848GB, I’m thinking it was an R1100RS (close enough anyway). It looks like your bike’s pretty heavy too though… but in comparison to over 500 lbs, the Ninja’s less than 400. *shrug* No personal experience picking a bike up, but I’ve been around a lot of bikes & that one made me feel tiny standing next to it.

Groan! My man’s got a Firehawk. Yesterday, I was at the ignition while he was testing the pressure in the pistons.
I think I know (much to my dismay) how to take the transmission down and back in.
