Megapodes!

I was watching a nature documentary tonight and saw some birds called Megapodes – pronounced Mega Poads!

I had a good laugh. I always assumed poad was a portmanteau of Parrot & Toad but maybe you knew about these guys, too? Either way, I still find the idea of a mega poad hilarious.

That’s an adorable mental picture. I’m picturing a poad painted as a megapoads. That crazy yellow scarf/ruff on the male cracks me up!

I often think about “megapodes” when I think of the word “poad”!
We had a neighbor who kept Maleefowl, which are Australian megapodes. That was an interesting neighborhood.
