Are there any plans to bring back the hatching royal dragons or are those sculpts permanently retired (sans eBay pieces)? I’d LOVE to see a blue morpho hatching emperor.

I second you! Hey, where there ever any done in the retired ruby red color anyone know?

Forever seeking: plum, chili pepper, and tattoo oriental dragons and kirins.

I’m pretty sure the royals were never painted in ruby or redfire. There’s a database link somewhere with this info. I think it’s a sticky thread under the “general Windstone” section.

It would probably be a pain since I think these sculpts involve a lot of hand painting, but I’d love to see all three made in Blue Morpho.

I would love love LOVE to see the return of the hatching royalty. Alas, with the difficulty of keeping the egg and body colours separate, I don’t think we’ll see any new ones except as test paints.

That said, if Windstone were to surprise me by making a limited run of hatching royalty in blue morpho (or any colour, really), I would be on them like white on rice. πŸ˜€

Well, phooey, that answers that, I wondered why the kinglet and empress were not in the store thread and kept hoping they would show up. I love to go back through the Ebay “family” thread and I always stop and smile at the Watermelon hatchlings trio that Dandrusky13 has. They are so cute, but the adorable factor goes up exponentially because they are all together. But now that you mention the issue, I can see where they would be complicated with all that area of cracking eggshell around the hatchling. πŸ™

Melody has mentioned that life would be easier if they had speckled shells as part of the color scheme, but I bet the hatching royalty would be a pain to paint even with that change.

We should try casting a few again and see what happens. Since we moved up here to Oregon, we have had so much trouble getting castings to come out well that we just gave up even considering casting those eggs. It seems counter-intuitive, but a smooth round egg shape is REALLY hard to cast perfectly!
I have been waiting until we are all in a nice calm, not-tearing-our-hair-out mood before trying to cast them again. May be a while.

Thanks for the info Melody. πŸ™‚ I really hope you guys can get the casting issue fixed (when you have the time.) πŸ˜‰ I’m super happy to know, as of now, they’re not permanently retired sculpts and someday they might go into production again. Pretty please don’t consider retiring these sculpts without making a few more first, preferably in blue morpho.

I’m down for speckled eggs! The blue morpho dragons could have either robins egg blue with black speckles or maybe black with blue speckles? Dark grey with silver speckles? Try some different combinations and put the test paints on ebay πŸ™‚

I’m all for the black eggs with blue speckles!
