Last night I went over to a new friend’s house and found a Windstone in her living room!
It belonged to her roommate, who had owned it for years. They were both excited to find out it was my mom who made it.
This sort of thing happens all the time. My boyfriend’s mother had bought one of the Maya Hill pieces as a gift for a friend a few years back and while we were out for a walk with the dogs, she pointed out a Circle of Cats in one of her neighbors’ front yards. One of my closest friends from elementary school still calls me up every now and then to tell me about a Windstone she found on someone’s shelf. Every time this happens, it surprises me – we really DO sell these?… and people really DO buy them?
Something even more amazing is when someone comes over to our house for dinner for the first time, sees our living room, and says, “Oh my gosh, you collect these too?”
that is funny and must be fun!
I can only imagine the looks on people’s faces when you tell them you don’t just collect them, but are the ones who make them.
I’ve discovered them at new friends’ houses also. One never realized her unicorns were Windstones — she just remembered her grandfather getting them for her when she admired them in a store many years ago — and she was amazed that they were “related” to the bat-winged cats I had, because they had the same “mother” — YOUR mother!
