I don’t recommend this on a valuable piece. But it worked for me because the condition was so bad I was willing to accept some damage.
This will probably make you cringe, but I soaked it in an OxyClean solution, then used a soft toothbrush. There was some bubbling of the finish but I smoothed it down as it was drying and you can’t see it at all.
These were literally brown as an oak stain. Now they are white again. 🥰
