I’m kinda sad I missed this. I’ve been digging through my stack of unpainted PYOs since I had to get one out to paint my kitty. I have SO MANY. I really need to paint some of them. I even found two of the old “soft feather” gryphons, one of which has never even had its box opened…
Well, I shall have to stick around and sign up for the next one, I guess. 🙂
Sorry to hear about your kitty! Did you paint this whole thing today? It is very nice and such a sweet memorial for your cat!
I did paint it all yesterday, yeah. Didn’t do much of anything else.
And thank you everyone for the kind words and thoughts.
Well, I wish TDM had mentioned depression in her first post.
Sometimes it’s hard to admit you suffer from depression. People don’t always react well. People don’t always understand, and some judge, and some say really thoughtless things. (I’ve been called “lazy” and a “whiner” and a bunch of other stuff like that. I’ve been told I’m just making it up to get people to give me attention. And of course I’ve been told to “buck up”, “cheer up” “stop being so negative” and “just get over it” more than once.) I think culturally we’re starting to get a little better about that, but I’ve still run into an awful lot of ignorance and judgement, which can make it hard to “out” that you have such a problem.
Very few things are so black and white. I think that you can make some choices about how you react to things and how you feel. But only some of them, and it only goes so far.
And as somebody who suffers from depression, that saying is pretty damn horrible to hear when you’re depressed. I wish more people understood that. It doesn’t really matter how true it may be for some people in some circumstances, it’s not true for everyone in all circumstances, and the sheer ignorance of assuming that because you’re able to be happy every other person is able to be happy… well, I know that people who haven’t experienced depression can never fully understand, but that reminds me of this: http://imgur.com/CWFTYoV
That’s what it’s like, when you’re depressed and people start saying things like “happiness is a choice” and “why can’t you just get over it?” and so on. You’re sitting there bleeding, and they’re not offering bandages, they’re just standing around telling you that *they* aren’t bleeding, so why can’t you just stop bleeding too?
I also think that yes, some people do choose to be offended when they don’t have to be, but some things are really, genuinely offensive and frankly if you’re not offended by them then something may be wrong with you. When someone says something hateful, bigoted, racist, sexist, or cruel, that is offensive and it *should* be offensive and decent people should stand up and say that it is offensive.

Next time I do one of these I am NOT starting it anywhere near Christmas though, I’ve had way too many people tell me that holiday gift shopping has prevented them from backing. 😛 Still, it did pretty well, I think.
Yeah, I’m just south of there and we have like… six inches. And it’s not supposed to melt until Monday!

(One week until I can finally stop spamming this everywhere, woo!) Looks like it probably won’t hit the second stretch goal, which is a shame, but oh well. I’ll get around to that project eventually anyway, it’ll just be a bit more of a pain since I’ll need to run another campaign to fund it.
:3 Thank you for the plug! Alas my project list for anything bigger than a Loonakit is full up through April, so there’s no way I could fit in a Christmas commission now.

We reached the first stretch goal now, which has me really stoked! 😀

I’ve been keeping an eye on your project as well. I plan to do something early next month when I have a ‘new’ budget. Does my signature look familiar? That link you sent me for the sale of that griffin–well, that’s where my money went this month but I feel it went to a good cause! Isn’t he cute?
That’s awesome! I’m glad he found a new home. (Or she?) 🙂
Sadly I just had somebody cancel their pledge, which is incredibly frustrating. 🙁
