This would make an awesome production color, or something like it. 😀

Ooooh! Congrats! My next door neighbor’s daughter and her husband have been having a problem with infertility. He took steroids when he was in high school to build up body mass (he was scrawny and picked on, so he turned to body building). He’s a very big guy now (all muscle) and is a trainer. He hasn’t used steroids in a years, but the damage is done. They finally got funding from some place and got the shots and are now expecting TWINS! She’s due this summer. The two of them are simply ecstatic. If this try didn’t work, they’d have adopted.

Enjoy your child when it arrives. Ignore the others. Like someone else has already said, hold your head high, be proud and be happy! 😀

Oh, excellent 🙂 Just thought I’d ask, since I think that store still has one 🙂 I’m hoping they still have what I’m looking for when I visit. I’d rather pick up in person than have them ship (they do an awesome job packing), but it’s fun to see their display. It’s also a bit of a drive for me.

If I have some money when you posted about him, I’d go for him. He’s lovely! I think you should enjoy him for a little bit though. You did a great job on him 😀

I’m visiting a friend Memorial Day weekend. I think a store near her has a Peacock Emperor still. Not sure if you would want me to look into it or not. I think they are charging the new price from the price hike though (around $350), but if he is there when I visit, he’d be new.

Nagasaki Prefecture! Ooooh… what are you doing over in Japan, if you don’t mind me asking? 😉

I’m hoping to make the move to Japan in a few years to do JET, but I’m paying off some college debt first and getting a couple more years of computer administration under the belt first. I’m hoping to be placed up in Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, or Miyagi prefectures (preferably), but any will do 😀 .

Wow! Very spacious! How did you pack and move your windstones there unharmed? I’ll need to know this advice for future reference 🙂

We’ve had gorgeous weather lately too! The lilacs just started opening up today! I liked the temperature from two days ago though. It was in the 80s and humidity (I hate that word) crept onto the seen today (we have severe thunderstorms rumbling through). Things start feeling too warm when it’s like that. I can live with a pleasant 75 degrees F and a nice gentle breeze.

Get one that is both hand raised and parrot-raised (as in, interacted with humans as a baby, but also raised by its feathered parents)! This way it is socalized but still knows it’s a parrot. Khu is a rescue that is mentally.. well, she’s right messed up because she was hand raised only. Not all parrots suffer from this but it does cause them a lot of psychological issues at times.

Or better yet, adopt a needy parrot! There are thousands of homeless ones right now, and conures and lovebirds are high up on the list of birds that people give up. Plus with an adult bird, what you see is what you get in terms of personality. No “what if my parrot grows up to be a screaming demon?” 😉

Just food for thought! Good luck in whatever you decide. 😀

Ooooh, good idea on the adopting a parrot. I’ll definitely have to look into that when the time is right! I don’t think transporting a bird back and forth from Japan would be fair (with the 14 hour flight and no guarantee that whatever my housing arrangements would be, that I could have a pet other than fish), so I’m waiting. Thanks for the tips though!

Labradorite is one of my favorite stones! I have several junks lying around.

I got my swap yesterday! 😀 He came just as I was leaving for work, so I took him to work last night to open, so I just got a chance this morning to try and grab a few quick shots of him before I head to work in a few. I’ll edit and post a single pic with multiple poses when I get a chance in the next week or so, and post them elsewhere, but for now, for all you impatient peoples 😉 ….

He’s lovely! What kind of parrot is he?

I used to have a pair of American Pied-light green Peach Faced Lovebirds when I was in high school. Patience and Fortitude (the lions in front of the NYC Public Library). From what I’ve been told, one of the hardest lovebirds types to train and my mom got them as a starter bird for me. Very pretty (the reason my mom picked them), but nasty, ill tempered little buggers. They didn’t live terribly long unfortunately. They would not eat any bit of fruit we bought for them (had to add vitamins to their food because of it) and I could not train them properly (my mom wouldn’t let me take them out of the cage to train them – they might poop on the rug). They had a good sized house at least. One died unexpectedly (don’t know why.. right after I left for college.. he was found dead in his cage one morning), and the other died soon after, I think, from heart break, because they were a true pair. Mom thought they were ‘pretty’ rather than researching them and they came from a pet store, which I don’t like when getting pets. I really wish my dad had talked her out of the idea and into his idea of a conure or something else more trainable. I felt bad for them. 😥 They were never remotely affectionate. Not one of my mom’s better ideas. My mom is better with furry creatures, like cocker spaniels.

I’d love to get a hand raised sun conure, quaker, or parrotlet someday when I have my own place, so I can train him correctly. I wouldn’t mind a masked lovebird, but I’d want to get them young and from a breeder. I won’t ever get one from a pet store. I’m a little too transient at the moment (I plan on going to Japan in a few years and then to grad school maybe), so it wouldn’t be fair to the bird.

When I was little, I had really bad eczema. I actually would scratch myself raw from the itching until I bled, and then I would scratch it even more. I itched more than it hurt. Freaked everyone else out more than me. I had some lotion I used a lot to stop the itch (some anti-steroidal of some sort I think) and a specially ordered soap that had absolutely no fragrances in it. The lotions and soap I had were very expensive (prescription I believe) and I don’t honestly think they make them anymore. I’ve grown out of it (thank goodness!), but I’m sensitive to chemicals and artificial fragrances on my skin (industrial cleaners and kitchen soaps give my hands a rash).

Aveeno is something to try. I tried it at least once when I was little and it was soothing at least. Lush is all natural. I use for some things and love it! I even found a cleanser for my face that works great when all else has failed (anything else was too harsh, or didn’t work). There are stores in some parts of the states (not sure where you are located), but they do ship. There is a cleanser I’ve used that is made with 100% olive oil (olivella). You literally feel squeeky clean after. They have liquid and bar soap, and lotions too. They do have a baby line too that leaves out any added fragrances, just in case. Olivella is NOT the like dumping a bunch of olive oil from the cupboard on yourself and washing 😛 My mom loves it and I use it on my face in the shower with my cleanser!
