might want to warn the family that they should not have kittens in their home for at least 6 months. Pan sticks around like parvo does, and is a nasty way to go. I am sorry and I hope that everyone realizes that none of this was your fault and apologize to you for making you feel like this.
Dragon, just my 2 cents here but….I have been doing cat rescue with one of America’s largest no kill cat sanctuaries for the past couple years, so I have some knowlege though I am no expert.
To the person who is mad at you for the family putting them down…
Flv/FIV are 100% fatal…end of story, so whether it was now, or a few short, sick months from now the end result would have been the same. Flv is usualy fatal in the first 4 months of life, so it would have been a very short life, and most of it spent sick. FIV takes a lot long, but is just as fatal…
To the family, when you take kittens from unknown origins, as ALL rescues are..there is always a risk that they are not healthy and may pass. It does come with the territory. I am very sorry for the family who has 5 children now that have been affected, but in no way is this your fault. And yes a 230 bill sucks…but thats another part of rescue. Vets are not cheap and those kitties who need the most, usually have the highest bills.
Point is, no one, especially you, is to blame here. Everyone involved was trying to do right by the kittens. Its not fair to blame anyone for what happened. Sadly both of the diseases I listed are fatal, and Leuk. can be very nasty and devistating to watch as they slowly die. Instead, the kindest thing for them was done before they suffered.
Take heart sweety. You were doing everything that you thought (and what I think) is the right thing to do. No one should blame you for any of it, things like this in the rescue world just happen.

Fish can sometimse be banned (especially in Japan) because of cooking methods over there. Just saying… If you like fish without fishy taste…try some Grilled Thresher Shark with Sweet Thai Chili Sauce….best fish I have ever had and I learned how to make it. It’s a captive bred fish/shark (I don’t eat unusual things found in the wild cause I believe thats where they belong and not in my tummy)….just in case the ‘shark’ thing made you wonder….
