I think Im leaning towards getting the non-dragon sculpts for now until they produce a color scheme I like better than whats out there. I have found my peacock male so Im happy :). But my current wish list is pretty much Gryphon oriented and there is only a small niche as I was able to find quite a few recently. The only other windstone Im thinking of trading out is a crouching pearl gryphon chick that was repaired by Kyrin, Im hoping someone might trade me a tan gryph chick for him as the pearl crouchers are generally a bit pricier than the tans and I have already invested the extra costs on having him fixed.
2 huberts Im glad your Gryph is on his way to being whole again!!! You should post some pics of him when hes done….did he have the light or dark blue eyes?
Ola everyone,
Here is a tale of girl who once wanted a peacock dragon shortly after they were retired, after being outbid several times on ebay she had given up all hope of ever having one so decided to purchase herself a silver male dragon instead. While he is a beautiful piece he still was not the peacock male to compliment her peacock female. One day as luck would have it a slightly damaged peacock male was purchased and repaired by said lass so now she finds herself with a dragon love triangle that is awkward for her poor female dragon at best.
So now I am left with a Silver Male dragon (im going to say mint as he has been displayed untouched on my shelf) with tag and original box who is not as loved by me as he should be. I am hoping maybe there is someone out there with a good/mint condition male wolf Gryphon or stripped winged tan female Gryphon who may wish to do a straight trade where each party pays to ship to the other.
If someone is interested in this trade let me know, I would love to see someone own him that would appreciate him more than me as well as maybe fill out my own collection wish list.
February 15, 2009 at 2:38 am in reply to: Will there be a Yearly Special Windstone Members Only Pieces #751021I dont think any international members would be offended that shipping costs to Canada or elsewhere are more expensive, thats not Windstones fault thats just how life works. I was thinking the $150.00 (non-refundable) would be the payment for the Windstone itself it gets one made painted and ready to go, no left overs. Once they are ready to ship then shipping costs get emailed out and made by members if a member refuses to pay shipping then Windstone hasnt lost any money on the piece they made for them because it was already paid for and worse case scenario if someone decides to skip out on their piece over something silly like shipping (highly unlikley) then Windstone can auction it off on Ebay.
As for the pre-alert I dont think quantities for a store issued Lp would be a huge issue as they were planning on making them for the store anyhow, this isnt specials made just for the club, its a pre alert for members on what was already planned for instore, if say there are 40 pieces and 60 club members and 45 decide to order them maybe once items are paid for the last five pieces missing could be made to fit the demand. Then if Melody decides the club demand was pretty high she may want to make just a smaller batch for instore.
There is almost always a high demand for those special “extras” and if someone is willing to pay for a club membership they are a pretty hardcore collector, I think having too little product will still be a big problem. If you always make just a little bit under the club member amount then you’ll still only have a handful to selll in the store if your lucky enough to have left overs. Also if its only a small fraction under the club member limit then if everyone wants one or two it wont be a huge amount of work to make up the extra 20 or so pieces, Im also sure if you were worried about something like left-over pieces at this point alot of members would happily pre-pay for the item before you started batch 2.

Also if I signed up one year and the club member piece was something I wasnt crazy about ie: a black dragon it woulnt be hard to find a non-member or a late joining member to purchase it here on the forum or on Ebay. So even if your Windstone picky….looking for someone……anyone…… 😀 The prepaid membership fee wouldnt be a problem because there will always be someone who wants a limited production piece that missed out when it rolled around.
February 13, 2009 at 6:27 am in reply to: Will there be a Yearly Special Windstone Members Only Pieces #751010I didnt mean she would give an exact date to have pieces ready (other than at some point that year :)), I meant as an added bonus when they know something in an Lp color/production will be going to the store they give members a pre-purchase option a few days before they go in store, like the small orange flapcats.
Not every member will want to buy these items (or be obligated to) but it would be nice to have the option as a club member, it sucks to feel like you’ll miss something awesome because you happen to have a shift when they go in store, I only just managed to get a few items by fluke on the days I check instore four or five times. It would be an added perk!!!
and the catalog would just be the regular little five or six page one they send out to the brick and mortar dealers, some people like to display them with their collections.
February 13, 2009 at 5:27 am in reply to: Will there be a Yearly Special Windstone Members Only Pieces #751008The pre-order thing would work too if there was a yearly membership fee say $150.00 (as most decent sized dragons/gryphons etc. are around that price mark, and its not so expensive as to limit membership to people in the highest income brackets). Then everyone who signed up for the club would have the piece (valued at $150.00) or two smaller pieces (valued at $150.00) bi-yearly sent out to them.
Also to add to the club feel each member could be mailed a copy of that years store issued catalog/ brochure and be signed up for pre announcement emails on Lp items arriving in store…ie: this tuesday at 12:00 pm “such and such gryphon” will make it to the store click here for option to hold said piece and have credit card/ paypal charged to your account.
This way your only making pieces that are gauranteed to be already sold. Also you may want to limit the period when membership can be applied for. Example: membership must be signed up for by May 30th of 2009 after that people will be signed up for membership starting the following year. Then everyone who is a member can have a certificate mailed out with the club piece letting them know it is one of only 1000 pieces or however many members there are that sign up…..
if you ever decide to add a crouching black (peacock) baby gryphon msg me!!!! hes the next on my hit list and you were a pleasure to do business with before :).
Im sorry to hear about all the drama that ensued. Its always a little bit iffy when you buy from someone who only has a few transactions on their account even if they have a 100% positive rating. If the tan gryphons werent so few and far between I would have held off bidding at all for someone with a few hundred transactions and good user rating.
I learned that the hardway when I got screwed out of a peacock dragon the last time I dealt with someone who had a low tansaction record. That time paypal did decide in my favour but the scam artist cleaned out their account before I could get a refund for my money. At least on the plus side you did get your Gryphon and if the guy does pay for repairs he will be as good as new!! Kyrin does awesome repairs!!! she fixed up my pearl gryphon chick and it looks brand new!!!.
not me this time 🙂
pm’d you!!! 😀
I was wondering which items in the store listed as limited production and currently out of stock will not be refilled. My main question is involving the tan female gryphon without the barred wings, will their be any more? also what about the spotted gryphons??. Thanks!!
I am still looking for an old school tan male gryphon if anyone wants to rehome one let me know. I can offer a silver male dragon in trade OR I will pay up to $200.00 for one in good condition.
Yeah!!!
It was pretty funny I was just thinking last week how I wanted to get the tan male and then there he was on ebay! I figured I lost out so I would see if any forum members have one to part with, alot of people seem to be weeding out their collections latley. Congrats on the win though!! The male gryphon is my favourite sculpt and my new goal is to get him in every production color…pearl and black peacock…success. Tan, spotted, sunset and wolf to go!!!
Does anyone have an original tan male gryphon they no longer love? if so let me know I am hoping to trade a silver male dragon for one.
She finally arrived in the mail a few days ago!!! I was trying to let you know she showed up okay but the forum was down!! I love her!!! she looks like she was done by staff at Windstone so professional!!!!
