I usually use a mandril, but as long as the paintbrush handle is a uniform thickness, it’d work, as long as your wire isn’t too heavy… The hardest part about that (I think) would be keeping an even tension while you were winding. And a mandril doesn’t have to be fancy… We used ones that were just a couple of pieces of wood with a metal rod to wrap the wire around, until one of the metalworkers got creative! If I can find some pics, I’ll send them to you…
And I forgot… You just need pliers and something to cut the wire. End nippers work wonderfully…Ok, cool! Thanks for the info, I’m going to have to try this again. Maybe the wire I was using was just too thin.
Oh, and I didn’t mean making chainmail was lame! I meant that the bracelet I ended up with was lame. ^_^ It fell apart!
I didn’t think that was what you meant… I thought you meant your efforts were lame, and my meaning was you gave it your best shot with the resources you had, and that certainly isn’t lame in my opinion! If I had something that did video’s, I’d do a short one showing you the basic weave…Hmmm… Have to do some checking. And I’m still looking for pics. All of them are still boxed up in the basement. Behind windstone boxes… lol!!

lol… if it’s anything like the curlies, it won’t be so bad next time… which is a good thing… considering I forgot to get one for myself… LOL!!!
