I also vote for the colorful ones– but how the heck am I going to get one? 🙁 If the chicks sold out in 23 seconds or whatever?? I wasn’t that interested in the griff chicks since I don’t collect the griffs anyway– but I really want one of these guys… I almost don’t want to get my hopes up.
Someone want to team up with me and if any one of the team sees them up we will buy for eachother? I am a stay at home mom and can be on the lookout if I know what day etc… just let me know as I really want one. Is there a limit set as to how many one can buy? FOr the chicks it looks like it was 5… These will be availabale to you guys first. We’ll have a pre-order list here on the forum, or something. There is no limit that I know of on ebay.
( availa-bale?)emerald212 wrote:You had said on another thread a while back that you were planning on doing more of the Birman Flap Cats for your Buy Direct page. I was just wondering if there was any progress there? Or if you knew when (stop laughing :)) they would be available? I would just like to try and plan my money.
I plan to make more, but they aren’t high priority right now. Maybe in a week or two. The most important thing now is the production griffin colors!
What color Poads(tm) should I do first?

I’m not sure exactly, I will have to count!

You can pre-order poads ™ when they are ready to sell, right now they are unpainted. What color?
By the way, my lawyer, Alan, said that I must put “tm” after the name “poad”(tm),because it is trademarked. Argh, this seems so stupid. Does anyone know the way to get the “tm” symbol with the number code like the © mark?skigod377 wrote:Melody wrote:This is a test paint piece. He doesn’t match the other flames, he was a test paint that I did to come up with the flame color for the limited edition of flames. This guy has copper on him, bold violet on his wings, and gold spots on his wing webs. He isn’t as “Flaming” as the flames, because the orangish color on this dragon is copper instead of ruby and gold paint.
We also purposely tone down the ebay photos. John worked hard to make this dragon not look too bright in the photo.
I also meant to call him “Violet bronze” not flame, since he is really more bronze color.LOL @ flaming…Thanks for the explanation. I think this one looks better than mine.
It doesn’t look better, just different. I chose to paint the violet flames like yours because they were brighter and more impressive than this copper-based one. I’ve got a cart full of OOAK’s that look somewhat like the limited edition colors. I test paint several dragons before I decide on an exact color/pattern good enough to do an edition of them that are all the same.
I have lots of test paint OOAK versions of black gold, regular flame, black peacock, gold, silver… etc. They are all different from the limited edition ones.skigod377 wrote:Yup! I saw it. I was kinda surprised when I saw a OOAK violet flame ow when I have one sitting on my shelf. Im not sure I understand the OOAK in a series thing, but I did ask how many are in a series.

Hmmm… maybe. We could do them direct sale, these end up at about the same price as the retail in the stores… or we could do them in production. We hesitate to do new production colors however, because we are producing two new colors now, and we can barely keep up with them.

You can pre-order the sitting pearl griffin chick.
This is not for any of the other colors or the other pose, this is for the pearl sitting griffin chick only.melody wrote:Karen and Susie said they will take pre-orders on the next batch today(which we will start on tomorrow)Our toll free number(800)982-4464
Since we’re on the subject, I thought I’d offer a suggestion — how about adding a pre-ordering feature to the website?
This would eliminate the problems that people have been having with trying to buy a piece in the few minutes before it sells out, and it would also be good from a business standpoint since Windstone would know exactly how many pieces to paint — no need to worry about excess inventory sitting around! And best of all, this wouldn’t result in any extra work for Karen/Susie since the pre-ordering is handled automatically via the website.
Having a feature on the website to allow people to order automatically is pretty common on most web stores that I’ve seen. I would suggest also adding a feature to allow people to order the direct sales pieces — this would help reduce Karen/Susie’s workload, and it would also allow people in different time zones to order outside of business hours.
Just my 2 cents… 🙂 We are discussing ways to do this, to avoid ebay scuffles,(thought they are exciting). I have not been encouraging pre-ordering because it is one more thing for Karen and Susie to worry about, but I think next time we need to get some idea, ahead of time, how many pieces to make of a new thing.I should of anticipated the demand for these, and made a larger first batch!
We are working with our website guy on setting up a real Windstone “store” on our website, with a check out and shopping cart and all that stuff. We could have a section for Pre-ordering too.

I think Karen sends the email after the auction is listed, she didn’t have time!

Out of curiosity, would I be able to call and place an order for a griffin chick tomorrow morning? I think it’s too late for me to call now.Yes , that would be fine.

Melody, are the pre-orders for pearl chicks or the next color? Have you decided the next color? For the Pearl sitting chick

Question…. are you taking pre-orders up to a certain number? IE: you’ll put 30 more on ebay and if you get 30 pre-orders will that be it? none for ebay at this time?
Or if you get 30 pre-orders will you cast them…. and then do some extras for ebay too?
::is debating over whether she wants to call now or not…:: I don’t know, pre-order all you want, we will take pre-orders into account when we paint more. That’s why it would be good to get pre-orders before we start on the next slew of them.
