      Melody,

I have been looking for older/retired pieces for about a year and a half and I have run across 2 that had cracks in the paint/sealant (from different sellers). The finish was smooth to the touch and the paint wasn’t peeling or anything like that. It can only be seen when the sculp is being held at an angle to strong light. (Looking head-on you don’t notice it.) I was wondering what caused the finish to do that? And is it in danger of peeling or flaking off later on?I don’t know. I haven’t seen this. Can you photo it and show me?
I can’t imagine the finish cracking, because it isn’t brittle like a ceramic glaze, it should stay a little stretchy, because it is a plastic coating. The very old pieces had a different coating from the one we use now (it is more matte) The older dragons I have here haven’t done that, as far as I know.

okay i understand changing the color for the em /pe run as in the darker more blue/purple does blend much better with the colors. but ! i have now a momma and a male who need a youngster. i’d preffer a young dragon but a hatchling would be okay if thats all i can find. what are my chances of finding either of those with the more violet purple ?!
or anyway i could beg one to be made :X
        thanx !

We sold all of the first version, (if we ever did any young or hatching with the brighter purple on them, we may not of)
I compared a bright purple male I have with a bluer purple young dragon, and honestly, the difference in the color is so slight, I think they will still match just fine..

How big is this wolf going to be, compared to the PYO wolf?

Bigger. She is about the size of the large flapcat, but a little taller. 8″ tall, 7″ from chest to back wing edge.

I woke up this morning and I was looking at my new em-pea male (thanks wolflodge!) And thought… you know, a desert-coloured male dragon would look awesome o.o Like light tans for the chest to a darker brown or something around the back and wings. It could be called “Desert” or “Desert Shadow”. Just an idea 0:D Or an excuse for there to be even more male/female pairs for me to buy. *squee*

I did one! I have it at the shop. I love sand color and light blue together. It is kinda what the original brown color was supposed to look like, before it escaped my control and became burnt orange.

              Hi, Melody

Once upon a time; long, long ago, did you tell us you were working on a winged wolf for production? Did I dream that? Is this something we can still look forward to somewhere down the road? (after Poads of course 😆 )Yes, I am still resculpting the rough master sculpture again, since the other one was stolen… insert deep growling sound… I am about 3/4 of the way done with this one. Our mold maker is taking a month off soon, so we aren’t going to see big winged wolves for at least that long.

Wonder if anyone has ever asked this…but have you ever thought of producing one of those coffee table photography books of all your art? There are so many original pieces that have been sold, are still on the back shelves of the factory (paint tests?) and are still being produced, that I have no doubt you could put together a quality book and sell it for about $60 apiece. The old Windstone booklets were really cool and something along those lines on a larger scale would really sell like hotcakes. Especially for those who want to own, but can’t afford some of the larger pieces (all the OWs, Secret Keepers, etc). Plus, it’s a great way to display your one-of-a-kind sculptures that will never be sold. I know a lot of artists have had success with this type of endeavor and it also works as advertisement for the Windstone name. Anyway, just a thought. 😉

We want to do just that. I don’t know if it will be a big beautiful “coffee table ” book, but a book of the Windstone collection. Maybe we can get it together for Windstones’s twenty-fifth aniversery in three years.
Or, maybe have a series of collector books, since we are always doing new things..
We just don’t got time to work on it now!!

Mel, are pearls considered a “retired color”? I so want a pearl mother (hen) someday…

No, the Pearls will be around. They are a direct sale (from ebay, by ordering directly, or the not-quite-ready-for-prime-time pre-order list and Windstone “store” [which isn’t running yet] on our website). They are limited production though, which means we don’t make tons of them. We will sell out from time to time, but will paint more when we get around to it.

I mean I love it, but I am suprised that anyone else does… It is such an odd combination of colors!

Any time I’ve won or bought a Windstone directly I get prompt, informative emails and there has never been a mistake in any of my (many) orders. Plus, they are really nice! 😀 Just wanted to let them know how much I appreciate their hard work! 😆

The Flion. How many were made and were they all numbered? There is one on e-bay with a #13 on it. So I looked at mine and it looks like a backward 7. Would that be a #1?

Jackie I don’t know how many were made. We probably still have the sales records for all the things we’ve sold, but it would be a huge job to go through them and count.
The numbers on the wings are mold numbers. The flionâ„¢ on Ebay is out of mold #13. We put those numbers on them so that if a piece came out with a defect, we could trace it to the mold. We often have a lot of molds being used at once. The markings on the very bottom, if you have one without felt, is the caster’s, or our detailer’s initials. One of them makes a “B” that looks just like a “13”.
The backward 7 is probably a 1. That would mean it is one of the first Flionsâ„¢.
