“Melody sometimes ‘hints’ too soon! She tried not to this time, but she got excited about them (Unicorns are like that – they like attention) and spilled the beans! We are still casting more Resting Ponycorns for her to paint so its going to take a while before the whole Grab Bag batch is ready. We have not yet decided exactly how we will do this grab bag, but it will be announced through the ‘Subscribe’ email newsletters. We will most likely use a waitlist on our website posted with lots of sign up time so that everyone doesn’t try to sign up all at once (that causes our site to crash).”
Well, I showed the photo of the pony corns because I thought I was done painting this batch, and they were very close to being done. -but from the reaction to these, this batch needed to be bigger. I had to wait for more ‘corns to be cast and that moved the finish line. I am painting more now.

Mine should go out today!
I’m on time for once!I use stuff called “earthquake hold”. It really does hold things! I use it for plastic toys too.
Another problem with cats is they sometimes EAT Windstones! No kidding!
We have several that have had their noses eaten off.I have used it to fasten smaller things to shelves, like the size of a Gothic unicorn. It holds things well, but I’m not sure how well it would work with the pads on the bottom. My pieces usually don’t have pads on them, because they are beat-up paint samples. If you can stick the putty on the edge of the bottom where it touches the gypsum, it would probably work fine. It takes a day or so for the putty to stick down firmly. It is amazing stuff! I use it for all my other toys and figures too.
There is a family tree for some of the dragons, but it isn’t firm… The gender of the various dragons is uncertain too, but this is how I sort them:
There is one clear family: Father, Mother, young dragon, baby, and hatching dragons. The Bantam can be one of their kids too.
The Fledgling and Royal hatching dragons are the offspring of the Secret Keeper, who I call a “she”.
The old Warrior and Emperor are male, and I consider them to be uncles of the main family unit… not sure where the Mini keeper fits in…
The Lap dragon ( Female) and Scratcher ( male) are siblings… maybe the Lap is the mate of the Old Warrior. Not sure.
The Spectrals are in their own family group. Could be a pair, but I have never made baby Spectrals so their gender is unclear.
The Oriental dragons are all one family, they are related somehow.
The Hearth dragon is an old granny.
The Coiled and Curlies go together
Then there is Toaster…Beautiful!
Looks like the granite that is all over our old place in California.
If a pyo you want is out of stock -check back! We are always casting more, but they need time to dry.
The only “Join waitlist” one that I didn’t see on the drying cart today is the PYO Oriental dragon.February 13, 2024 at 12:58 pm in reply to: Question About “Melody” Store/Limited Production Editions #1680730February 13, 2024 at 12:36 pm in reply to: Question About “Melody” Store/Limited Production Editions #1680728I know I’m probably beating a dead horse. I only ask because the store seems pretty well stocked up with dragons and has been for some time now. A few years ago, like back during Covid-ish times it was said that this was the focus was to get the store stocked with dragons and at this point it seems pretty darn full of them. I just wonder when some of the waitlists for other things would be addressed (if ever). Some items have been on the backburner for almost a decade. I’m a patient person, but I don’t really want to dish out test paint prices for a limited production item, but that’s what it’s basically come to.
Nearly all the Flip Flaps and Kirins haven’t been restocked since 2015. Standing Oris came out once in 2019 and then never again. Those are just examples. I don’t personally need Ocelet Griffins and Pegasus, but I know many others looking for those. I’d imagine the waitlists must be extensive for those items.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but is it to keep the ebay auctions for these pieces in demand? I just don’t see why none of these other sculpts seem to get any attention. Especially ones that don’t require horns like flap cats and pegasus as that was the big problem mentioned for kirins many times over the years.
Gina has been painting Flap Cats and other random pieces for eBay because we have very few of these pieces cast at the moment, or they are super time-consuming to cast, (like the Oriental dragons and the Scratcher).
The adult Kirins have horn issues so they are not in production.
The Emperor Dragon has serious casting issues so he is being worked on to resolve the problem.
Yes, we need to do some production F. cats.We haven’t been painting Kirins because of the horn problem, and having too much else to do!
February 9, 2024 at 1:44 pm in reply to: Question About “Melody” Store/Limited Production Editions #1680650We need more hands! The painters are working hard to keep the normal dragons and unicorns stocked, and then I go and make new things that need painting.
I am working on the Toaster, so I’m not even painting! So many tiny scales.Aww! So pretty!
