I went to see “Cats.” It wasn’t what I expected, since there’s no real story or in-depth plot line. It’s more like a cat audition. Of course, I could see the ending coming from the start, so there was no real mystery or surprise at the end. Needless to say, I didn’t really like it. It was very disappointing too, since I had wanted to see it for most of my life. Sorry, that’s just my opinion.

It is one of those things that I could see some people not liking, because it almost seems disorganized with no real plot, but I knew it would be like that and knew not to expect a plot.

So it certainly isn’t something everyone would like.

It is easy, but you must use a candy thermometer and get some silicone baking sheets, if the mix is too hot when you spoon it out..it will cool like caramel. It is a project that you need to make one or two batches to get it right,

Do not be frustrated if it doesn’t work the first time πŸ™‚ The mix is so hot it actually will melt the wax paper. So get silicon baking sheets…

Email or pm me if you have questions…..

I sent some Pralines to Windstone for Christmas and I hope others will enjoy this simple recipe. Susie and Karen seemed to enjoy them.

    Pralines:

Make these on a low humidity, cool day for best results:

    1 cup sugar
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup evaporated milk
2 tablespoons light karo corn syrup

Cook until it reaches 234 to 238 degrees F on candy thermometer, stirring constantly. When 234 degrees remove from heat. The mixture will be bubbling a lot! It takes about 15 minutes on medium heat.

Add 2 tablespoons real butter and stir in, keep stirring and let cool down to about 180 degrees and

    Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract,

Then stir in 1 Cups of pecan halves. Keep stirring as mixture gets thicker. It will look like and smell like hot caramel

For best results use a silicon baking sheet laid on the counter top and spoon a tablespoon of the mixture at a time on the sheets.

If the mixture gets hard or sugary, put back over the heat for a few seconds to re-melt the mixture and then spoon on the baking sheet.

If using wax paper, the pralines may stick…the silicon sheets are much better. Let cool and then pull up and store in an airtight container between layers of wax paper in a cool dry place.

Recipe makes about a dozen large or 16 to 20 small pralines.

The hotter the mixture gets on the stove, the harder the pralines will be…at 234 they will be softer and at 238 crunchier, be sure to sample the cooling leftover sauce from the pan, it is to die for!!!!

    Melody,

I know I posted pictures of him in another section, but I really wanted to thank you for auctioning him. He is the most fantastic Griffin I have ever seen. Spectacular…I bid on a bit of a whim and I am just astounded. I can’t stop looking at him.

Any chance you did a female in a similar color or is he destined to be a single male forever?

in reply to: Gold Sunburst Peacock Griffin! #642752

    Hehehe…

You know I only bought this guy because
#1 I thought he was gorgeous
#2 because it was the last few minutes of the auction and he was only at $400.

I don’t know if I would have gone after a $1000 griffin..because they are not my favorite sculpture.

I have the Old Black and White families, but I have many more Dragons, which is what I mostly collect.

In the end, when I saw him for real, I would trade all my other Griffins for him. He is just fantastic!!! If a female and chicks pop up, I will certainly be bidding on them.

I just can’t stop looking at him!!!!

For the first time ever..I went to see the Stage production of Cats!

I have seen Phantom of the Opera and I love Andrew Lloyd Webber….

But I was blown away by Cats! The actors were not only wonderful vocalists, but they are also fantastic acrobats! I was able to get front row tickets at center stage and I was simply blown away!

Fantastic production, very much a fun and entertaining evening..like going to see a Cirque du Soleil presentation…

in reply to: Cat Problem / Question Has anyone had a cat with this? #642516

He has had two doses of antibiotics and antifungals and he is lapping up pieces of cat food and swallowing them whole.

He was active today and is playing with a catnip mouse..with his mouth no less.

Amazing!!! After the Vet visit, I felt really doom and gloom and the whole “there is no cure” worries.

ALso everything I have read on the net is kind of doom and gloom. I will just have to keep treating him and keep hoping he will do okay. I just couldn’t stand to see him suffer.

I also have a 13 year old min pin Terror, who has breast cancer and her lesion has pushed through the skin, it is also a bad situation, but she is happy, she eats, she bounces around. The vet and I are just watching her and when it starts to hurt or starts to affect her quality of life…we will make the decision.

My problem is that I have a lot of rescues and I have 4 dogs over age 12 and 6 dogs over age 6 or 7. So I know I am going to loose many in the next few years…I have lost 3 dogs in the last year πŸ™

But, I keep thinking that All Dogs Go To Heaven πŸ™‚

in reply to: Warning! About Ebay Seller! #642498

Thanks everyone…this seller is obviously nuts…I hope the person who bought the dragon is happy….sigh…

It was more than a slight imperfection…..

in reply to: What do the Windstone Staff like to Eat or Drink? #641500

So far they seem to like home made Pralines and homemade Brownies….I am not sure what was in the third box….but Karen and Susie sound very happy!!

They just might get to sugar coma stage….so perhaps we should all plan that trip to the factory…

    Hehehe…Merry Christmas!

If I win Castle of the Hawks, I will have them all including Mystery Castle #1 and Test Paint Mariner’s Watchtower #1…I also have the logostone and the brochure…that is why I want The Hawks so much.

I do plan on one of the 3 Hawks being mine πŸ™‚
