Anyone know who it was that makes ceramics on here or where I can get some?
Actually, I sorta did the same thing to test out colorings before I tackled some PYOs. I actually just found some little plaster (?) statues at Walmart of all places. They’re only about 2-3″ big overall, but if you just want to practice colors or techniques, you cant beat them. They’re about a buck a piece, which is even better.
If you still want actual ceramic stuff to paint, check your local yellow pages; they may have some places listed so you don’t have to pay a fortune in shipping online. 🙂
She’s my second PYO dragon, painted in shades of pinks oranges and yellow (with a bit of turquoise), and she’s up for grabs on ebay. She comes with a 6mm little pearl that sits on top of her tail.

When do we hear who we got in the swap? I can’t wait.

Yeah, I actually asked to switch names in the event I get someone asking for a wolf. I’m happy doing the other three styles, but still not too sure how strong I am with the wolves. Does anyone else get paranoid that the recipient won’t like their sculpt? Is it just me? I’m that way with any commission or gift item I do..

Oh! Hi! I wondered if anyone out there who bought them had found the site. Nice to see a familar face, I’m glad you liked him.

Not at all! Theres’ just a lot of great minds out there who happen to like the same things. I’ll just concentrate more on doing “unique” colorations, then go back in the future and make the ones I wanted to do initially. I’ve got a ton of ideas, and a TON of feathers at home for inspiration, so there’s no shortage of paint schemes coming!
Just curious, did you end up keeping him, or selling him? I’m trying to figure out what percentage of the ones posted here are sold or are commissioned pieces.

Very pretty! The dark around his eyes makes him look really stern, but I LOVE the color & patterning down the wings! Very nice.
Very pretty, but with the gold highlights and such, is he too close to Melody’s dragons? I’m still trying to figure out exactly what the limitations are for the whole copyrighted paint schemes.. I know you can’t do her colorings on the PYOs, but I do feel a little lost in this department.
Hi! After about two months of waiting (turns out I had some sort of computer problem), I’m finally here! I’ve been a random lurker on the boards for a short while since I couldn’t post yet.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Andrea, I’m from the US. I’m twenty-something, work retail, and make assorted crafts & commissions for sale on my website as my hobby. I’ve painted two PYO’s so far (both were commissions), am working on a third commission, and have a few more tucked statues away, waiting for a package of craft goodies to arrive, plus a spare bit of time when I can work on them all.
I initially had a ton of ideas for paint jobs before coming to the website, but I see a good handful have already been done (like the Magpie and Starling griffens- gorgeous!), so now I’m trying to come up with original ideas to do when I get the chance. I can’t wait to be able to start painting how I see fit- not too much longer- just one more critter to see off to his new home.
I LOVE dragons; I dream about them, I paint them, I make them, I sew them, so I’ve been an admirer of the WS sculptures for ages, oogling them in magazines when I could. I don’t own any statues yet (though not for lack of wanting), but that will change shortly; I know I’ll end up keeping some PYOs as I go. I’ve posted a few photos of my first two sculptures: an ocean colored dragon and a lorikeet/clouded- leopard griffen (photos are waiting approval I guess). The photos are here somewhere on the site..
Lastly, though I’ve previously done so in private emails, I would like to publicly thank/apologize to Watergazerwolf. After I started an ebay auction (with no photos yet because I couldn’t afford to buy the beginning statues to photograph), she was gracious enough to offer me her photos to use. After a bit of a miscommunication (completely on my behalf!) as to which photos, she very kindly allowed me to finish the auction out with her photos as an example of what beautiful work can be done with them. I’m very sorry if I hurt or offended anyone here or on ebay, but I have been waiting for about two months to be able to post this. I wanted to get this off my chest the first chance I got; hopefully everyone will be kind and not flame me.
Well, that’s me. If you would like to know more, there’s email or the boards, ask what you will. I’ll be posting pictures as I finish them up.
