Love his colors 😀
what about ‘desert twilight’ or something along that vein for his name?I think it’s perfect, now that you mention it he really does look almost like a sunset over a desert! Thanks for the name 😀
I also have updated the pictures above – my father let me borrow his HD digital camera! 😀 I kept the one with the black background up because i like glitter XD I’ll have to try to take pictures of my next PYOs with that background and this nicer digital camera – I have the feeling it might actually look good!
He’s all finished in the pictures now, I sprayed him with a couple of thin coats of glossy varnish and his eyes are finally glued in for good 🙂 Will be putting him up for auction on ebay in the next couple days!

After thinking about it for a while, I think I will be putting both of these up for auction on Ebay – will be my first time trying to sell anything, so if anyone has any tips – I know this may not be the right forum for it, but if you can refer me to any good pages – let me know 🙂
Also, if anyone has any particular interest in either of these guys, please don’t hesitate to PM me an offer, I won’t be putting them up for a few days.

I have nearly finished my griffin – all I have left is to give him a top coat, and I’m waiting for a sunny day to do that!
I took a bunch of pictures of him in all different lights, with and without flash, etc. He is just a pain to photograph! I spent hours on the detailing around his eyes and on his haunches, and although I got a couple of good pictures of his hind side, the eyes are increasingly difficult to photograph with my camera – it just can’t focus right. When I get him outside on a sunny day I will try again, but something tells me it’s just my camera’s fault and not the lighting 🙁 (*edit – it was definitely the camera! Borrowed a nicer one, and the photos have been replaced*)In any case, here he is. He doesn’t have a name yet, but he reminds me of fire, and a sunset, and a little bit of Bollywood XD
^^ I liked the idea of putting him on a mystical looking background, but I think my camera wanted to focus on the glitter rather than the griffin ><Commission spots are currently closed! Please message me for details.

I suppose if it looks decent, it’s better than nothing 🙂 Thanks for the advice!

Awesome! I may have to try that with the griffin that I have, I’d been planning on giving him a deeper color scheme, purples with blue interference. I think that technique may work perfectly! Thanks 😀

He definitely didn’t come out the way that I had first imagined him, but I am totally in love with him now 😀
Here are some better pictures of him in his final-version form. I’m not sure that I want to give him much gloss – does anyone know if it’s safe to NOT give a topcoat, or is it recommended to at least go with a matte top coat? I just don’t want to ruin the beautiful look that the interference has right now, I love how pearly it is on the cream colors.

I tried painting my dragon a darker brown and then painting lighter on top but I was worried half way through that I wasn’t doing it correctly XD

Thanks for the compliments! I knew I wanted to do a blue/brown color scheme because I always thought those colors go great together. I ended up painting some gold scales with a touch of Blue interference too just to make the blue scales work better with the rest of him. I took some pictures this morning but I’m at work now so I’ll have to post them later 🙂

Still not sure if I’m completely done with him or if he still needs some touch-ups.. Sorry for the terrible cell phone quality pics, I’ll replace them when I get a chance in the next couple of days with something that looks much more clear.
As I’ve seen said in so many other threads, the colors don’t come out quite right with him in photos but it’s the best I can do at the moment. Maybe some natural light will do him some good.
I used mainly Liquitex paints and I brushed him with a coat of Golden gold interference and Golden blue interference on the blue parts. He looks quite golden right now, but he started out almost as brown as the towel behind him XD This was an excellent learning experience, I know now what to do at the beginning of painting, and I definitely know what I want to do better next time. Oh boy oh boy, I’m already really looking forward to tackling the Griffin that’s sitting in his box downstairs 😀 Much different color scheme planned for that one..
EDIT: I took out most of the photos from this first post because I didn’t want people to have to scroll down through a bunch of shoddy quality pics to get to the good ones 🙂 Left one for comparison XDCommission spots are currently closed! Please message me for details.

Ugh.. Yes!! Stupid UPS! I won’t be using them again let me tell you! I recently shipped a package to a friend across the country, and UPS was a heck of a lot more expensive to ship things.. and now, I’m wondering why! USPS all the way!
Oh.. and the UPS guy just dropped off a package at my front door… XD (EDIT: It was definitely the griffin!!)
It’s double goody day!! I’ve already started mixing the paints for the wee dragon 😀

OK, Good to know ^^
So today, I got a package in the mail from Windstone! Hooray, hooray, hoo- bwa?? It’s the dragon that I ordered just a couple of days ago! I’m super excited, but this makes me even more worried for my Griffin, which I still haven’t gotten yet 🙁
Has this ever happened to anyone, or should I start contacting the good Windstone people to see what I should do?
