those statues are impressive in person. they were on display at the national gallery of modern art in dc a few years ago. my bf and i spent so much time looking at the details. (but not all of the images on that link were in the show)

there is not that much gold in the face. most of it is near the bottom. i think it would be fine just around the eyes. you dont even need to totally go around the eyes. maybe jsut gold eye brows! (ok, that was corny, dont do the eyebrows)
my parents are non-practicing diabetics, so i dont know how good an example this is.
my mom makes a lot of apple crisps. and she also makes her own apple sauce; she adds equal or sweet and low to the latter to make it sweater.
