      WHA’ HAPPEN TO THE ADS????
All the embedded pictures and links have vanished! They are still there when I go to edit my ads, but they aren’t visible in the completed ads – mine or anyone else’s. Only the photos uploaded to this site show.

Okay, I saw Kim’s ad showing linked pics, and looked at the source. It looks like it is the “a href=” tag that is not working anymore. Anything enclosed in that tag disappears. This also means I can’t include a link to someone else’s ad in mine. 🙁

I wish it wouldn’t keep changing what kind of links work! First, just entering the URL to the photo worked as long as it was http and not https. Then that stopped working, and I had to enclose the jpg URL in an IMG tag. Then that stopped working, and I had to switch to flickr’s “share” link, which was a shortcut URL. Now, that isn’t working, and I have to go back to the original “embed” link, but delete the “a href” tag from around the IMG tag.

That is a new forum issue. The only reason we could edit old posts on the old software was because of a bug – they weren’t supposed to be editable. On the new forum, you can only edit your posts for a short time. I think it’s 5 minutes.

Not sure why bulletin board software is like this. Maybe to prevent people from changing offensive posts and claiming they never wrote any such thing?

Awe, I really wish I could get one, they are so amazing. But I’m moving in about 3 weeks and do not know what my new address will be. Boo.

Do you at least know what your zip code will be? Or within a few zip codes? If so, you can have it sent to
          (Your name)
          General Delivery
          City, ST zipcode

At least, that used to be an option. You do have to remember to go to the specified post office and pick it up. Maybe you can put a reminder in your calendar.

It’s actually not that cold here in Calgary right now GardenNinja. The last couple days it was around 20 degrees C outside which is about 68 degrees F, a nice room temperature. Although it snows every once in a while too.

It snows in Saint Louis, too, though not the way it used to. We usually get snow that sticks once or twice every winter. It usually melts within a few days, except the plow piles. It has been quite some years since I got more than 2-3 inches, though I recall some people out in the county (suburban, I live in urban area) got ~6 inches last year when I didn’t see any.
Saint Louis has both urban heat island effect and gulf air influence – it comes up the Mississippi River valley, making Saint Louis warmer than other midwestern cities at this latitude. Saint Louis theoretically can get below -10°F/-23°C, but most winters it doesn’t even get down to 5°F/-15°C.
I remember the blizzard of 1982… Over a foot in one day, and it didn’t warm up and start melting for over a week. It was so much more than normal, the whole metro area was paralyzed for a week. Outlying areas even longer than that.
On the other hand, another effect of the gulf air is the 95/95 days in the summer. I could do without those.

                  Courtney,
There is one particular person who is notorious for that. Check the white list and black list to see who – that person is on both. If it is someone else, then maybe something has happened to her. If it is who I am thinking, you may be SOL.

Hmm, I wonder if there is something about going to the forum or the classifieds. Sounds like a question for Clay. I think Susie said he’s back next week.

Is this the first time you’ve logged in since the switch to WordPress? The name thing happened to everyone. You can change it back from your profile-select edit, then base if it doesn’t come up on that tab. I strongly advise skimming through the “New website concerns…” topic to see other things that have changed.

I just tested photobucket – select the address labeled “IMG”

                            Thank you very much.

By the way, the way I tested was by pm’ing myself. The system lets you do that. Just go to the “Compose” tab, and enter your username in the “Send To” entry box.

                              Etruscan,
It is simple if your photo site will give you links directly to the picture. I use flickr. On my phone, I select share -> copy URL. On my desktop, the selection under share is called something else, don’t recall what. But the URL will look something like http : // flic.kr/p/JEDJ7w, but without the spaces. Other photo sites may use other formats, but it has to start with http. If it gives you an https address, delete the ‘s’ – that seems to confuse the website. You can test pm me if you like.

I’m not getting emails alerting me to new PMs again. I also checked my spam box and they’re not in there either.

I don’t seem to be getting them anymore either, and my account is set to “Yes” for emails. I had been receiving emails until now so something has changed.

I haven’t gotten the notices today either. Not for PMs or for this thread. 🙁

Those critters don’t look quite like mice to me. I wonder if they are chinchillas?

Chinchillas don’t have long hairless tails like that. How about jerboas?

Hmm, my first thought was “but jerboas are so obscure.” Then I realized if both you and I know about them, then surely Ms. Melody does, too.
The reason I was thinking chinchillas in spite of the narrowness of the tails is because the tail hairs are so coarse compared to the body fur, that it tends to lie close to the tail, and that would look the same as bare in silhouette. But jerboas are definitely a possibility.
