I’m SO HAPPY!*doing happy snoopydog dance* Your comments make my heart sing! I don’t know how to separate out your comments so I’ll address them all in one post.
I got my first Windstone about 20 years ago when I spotted a peacock male in a shop in Old Sacramento and told my best friend “I want THAT!” I was totally blown away when he gave it to me for Christmas that year because we didn’t give each other presents like that usually. It became very special when he was killed in an auto accident the following October. I got my first 3 Ki-rins the next year, then stopped for many years until I was once again in that shop in Old Sacramento and found a peacock emperor. From then, the addiction started in full force. At last count I have 109Windstones and I guess I haven’t stopped. 😀
I have them all in my office. I had quite a few in my inner office, but it was so crowded, there was no room for me or my clients, so I packed them up and put them into my storeroom. Then I thought, “What’s the point of having them if I can’t see them and nobody else can either?” So I looked in the paper and there was an antique store retiring and selling its display cases in the next town, so I bought 2, one little one and a bigger one, 6’long with mirrored doors and lights and glass sides and top and shelves. It has heavy metal supports 12″ apart and 3/8″ thick glass that holds 40lbs per foot.
That held me for awhile, but soon the cases were full and overflowing and there was no more room for another case, so I hired an out-of-work carpenter/finisher to build another case on top of the old one using some of the old glass and staining it myself, and adding mirrors to the little case and moving it to the opposite wall. Both cases are firmly attached to the walls with 4″inch woodscrews, but they are also bolted together so if I ever have to move them, they can be separated, and I had wheels put on the bottom one. I’m really pleased with the way it came out!
The sitting spectral was bought with a badly broken wing because when someone moved, a lot of their Windstones got broken, so they were selling a lot of them, and I was told this one was an empea. When I got it, I thought it didn’t look quite like the rest of my empeas, but it didn’t look quite like a peacock either, it has so much more green than they do. With the variations in paint jobs, I thought, maybe that’s the problem. My peacock OW is brighter than the rest of my other peacocks, but he is from a newer batch. So, I really don’t know! I’m going to take a picture of him separately when I get my camera fixed (I broke it yesterday!) and post it so maybe we can get it figured out. I think you’re right about the coil. Again, I was told I was buying an empea, and got an emerald. I didn’t notice until you mentioned it, but his forehead jewel is bright red, not lavender like the others. SO! It looks like I’m in the market for an empea coiled and sitting spectral I didn’t know I was! I learn so much from you all!!!
So Thank you, thank you thank you!! It feels so good to finally learn to post pictures. It took me so long to learn it, I hope I can do it again. First, I have to get my camera fixed! And then to get such a wonderful response! It was really worth all the struggle to learn how to do it!
P.S. I just got a ruby sun dragon! Next picture!

That hit me where it really hurt: an irreplaceable hurted Windstone (sob!) I’m so sorry! 😥

Yah!!! I finally got all my pictures posted!!! I am SO happy! I got the bottom part of the cabinet at an antique shop that had retired, so I brought it back to the office and put wheels on it so I could move it around. I also bought the other smaller one across from it. Then I ran out of room so I had an out of work carpenter build the second one on top of it to save space. It’s really strong. It has 3/8″ glass shelves and metals supports every 12″ and it’s attached to the wall. When these pictures were taken I have 104 Windstones, but now I’m selling some of them to make room because even though I thought I would have enough room, my Windstone addiction got me and I decided that rather than get yet ANOTHER cabiner that I don’t have room for, I will sell some of the dragons I have. I am so PLEASED that you like my collection! I like it too!. I just got my flion today.
Now that I have figured out how to post pictures, I’ll post some more when I get the rest of them. I broke my camera yesterday, so it may be a while again.

Thank you so much for your responses! 😀 I think I have answered everyone, and if I haven’t, please PM me again, it was an oversight. One male Kirin is sold for sure and the rest are being considered. No mentions yet of the black-golds or the ruby. More on some other pieces later. 🙂

A preacher and a cabbie were waiting at the Pearly Gates while St. Peter was making his decision about whether either one of them was going to get in. The preacher said “Well, I’ve worked hard all my life, preaching and doing the Lord’s work.” So he got a cotton robe and a wooden staff and was let in. The cabbie said “Well, I’ve been boozin’ and womanin’ and cabbyin’ all my life.” So he got a silk robe and a silver staff and was let in. The preacher said “Hey, I was being better all my life than he was, why did he get the silk robe and silver staff and I got the cotton robe and wooden staff?” St.Peter explained,”Well, see, up here we look at results. While you were preaching, the people were sleeping. While he was driving his cab, the people were praying!”

For the very first time I’m selling some of my Windstones! 😯 😯 I know, I can hardly believe I’m doing this! I just built my new display case and already I need more room! I want to offer them here first because I know you and you’ll love them and you’ve helped me acquire this addiction(is that a good thing?) 😆 Anyway, what follows is a partial list. I’m not good at prices so please PM me with what you think is fair.

Male Kirin (2) mint, no tags, no boxes
Female Kirin (2) mint, no tags, no boxes
Baby Kirin (2) 1 mint, 1 tiny chipped hoof, no tags, no boxes

Rainbow emperor, mint, no tag, maybe a box
Rainbow hatching, mint, no tag, box

    Black-gold hatching, mint, tag, box
Black-gold male, mint, no tag, maybe a box
Ruby hatching, mint, no tag, box

I also have 3 greens but 2 have some damage and I haven’t yet figured out how to post pictures, so until I can do that, I’ll have to wait.

I know to pack carefully, safely and well. I have a LOT of boxes that I can probably match up with the dragons and double-box. When I first started collecting, I didn’t know about not removing the tags,(I thought they were like clothes tags!)so I took them all off. Live and learn from the forum!

I guess we can figure out shipping as we go. Insurance will be added, considering the state of the shipping services, unless you insist otherwise.

    So, what do you think? 🙁 🙂 😥 😕

in reply to: How to post photos #660776

Jennifer, I feel so stupid! Maybe it’s just because I’ve been struggling with this for so long and now I’ve been up all night just getting the photos on photobucket because I couldn’t find the other one, and it kept dropping the titles and I STILL don’t have them in the order I want so now I’m doing this on a 3-hour nap because I just want to learn how to do this SO MUCH!! It looks so easy and effortless for everyone else. I don’t think I’m hopeless, I just feel that way! (I’m having a meltdown!)
I don’t want to start this until I can complete it. I got the photos on the computer and into photobucket. I get stuck at “URL to your photo COPIED” I don’t know how to do that. “write your post and insert it by clicking IMG(Right? Left?)”???paste your URL”???) “Click IMG”(Right? Left?) again” Am I hopeless?

in reply to: *sigh* Another copyright infringement. #666376

They look like a parody of the real thing! Those things would give me nightmares! 😡

in reply to: Silver or Old Green curlies #666061

The one on ebay is a lavender-eye if that makes a difference. The seller is a shop in Wisconsin, bidding is up to $69 as we speak, shipping is $7. FYI
